Tau - a break from guard

you may (or not) remember my guard thread(s), and well, they are a major drain to think about, so i've decided to take a small break of tau, with some FW suits i've had for a while, and some old stealthers

heres the first i've put together, and I must say they are much betterthan the GW ones, note.. the base isn't finished, and that the suit is not attached to the base yet

and the second, the feet are not glued, and the base not started yet

the third, needs another good wash (rh'ymir) but is going to be started soon-ish

lastly, my two stealthsuits that i got from a friend (mising their backpacks) their new ones, are made from the back of a fusion blaster + an ariel from the battlesuits

still need to get a shas'ui for them

lastly, i'm making/painting two gun drones, which will be a test for a scheme.

C&C? the bases will all be city-fightish.

also, i still need a colour scheme, any suggestions?

    You stole my configuration!

Very niftily done. I like the jetpack fix on the stealths (oddly I use the other half of the FB to represent my Monat's vecored retro thrusters). The XV89s are both looking very cool.

I imagine him saying something like, "You thare! Yes, you! Would you be sooo kind as to Die for me? Yes, that's it, jolly good."

Re: Tau - a break from guard

    Yay! more updates!

both my cats are getting "fixed" today, so i've got a day of work, and maybe a morning tomorrow.

first off, the first baase, only needing sand then paint

(it does look messy and cluttered, but all will be fixed by the glory of sand!)

next, the second base, less cluttered, but harder to do (the filing is the key here, not very fast coming) is also only needing sand/paint. you can see the two "lines" of GD, which are a link between the two, the drone on the first has crash landed, and the "skid" goes to the next

see the firewarrior head? yes, that's a knife jammed in there. =P

finished putting together R'hymir, not much to say here:

and lastly, how i plan to set them on their stand (though, not for a while yet), also a comparaison of poses i guess

still need to do his base, though that won't take too long.

oh, and still looking for ideas on a colour shceme, any suggestions are welcome

    *edit* fixed links

wow nice poses with those very sexy forge world suits and i love those backpacks for the stealths, very creative.

I dunno if its the right place to ask but with those Forge suits can they be mounted on the flying stands cause i always see them on foot (though always looking very cool)

Re: Tau - a break from guard

    whoah! a post!

yesm they can be mounted (smirk) on the flying stands, same backpack as the normal crisis'

as to progress, finished sanding the three bases, just need some larger rock, then i can paint

I also picked up the shas'ui forthe stealth team. he's ready to go, all three are based a-la cityfight, also waiting on larger rocks

lastly, i picked up a squad of 7 pathfinders, no 'fish yet, but they're all based and also waiting rocks

pics to come tomorrow (12:00 here *yawn*)

oh! almost forgot, i've found a scheme to "borrow" i'll link that next post as well, very city-fight. just gotta email/pm the maker, and get his opinion, and a colours-used sorta thing

Re: Tau - a break from guard

thanks all for the comments! =D

jsut got a reply, that'll be the scheme i'll be using, first thing to be painted will be the FW crisis suits (they are dead sexy aren't they? =P) just need to get some larger rocks to put on top of the sand, then spray away!

i'll get some pics up of the bases once i finish that, but if anyone desperately needs to know what rh'ymir's base is like, its basically a rhino rear door on the base, sand around.. going to have some more rubble as well, but it just the jist of it

    anyways, on to those pictures!

this one is of the stealth suits, basically done minus the larger rocks

the pathfinder squad - again without the larger rocks, but basically done

painting should commence before the end of the week, but depends on when i finish the crisis' bases

Re: Tau - a break from guard

    Wooo! update!

    well, sorta

    finally got my paints:

painting should commence tomorrow, priming them (minus bases, still need that darn rock) after i get back from school: around 2:30-ish i guess?

anyways, three colours for the black/brown, lenses will be green, but only after i do the main body work.

test painting a pre-primed drone tonight, should update sometime (somewhat) soon

Re: Tau - a break from guard

    well, test is up:

had to prolong the exposure, very dark right now , and thus, the picture is blurry..

a note, the three colours are there because i wasn't too sure what to do when the earth turned out a bit different, so I mixed up two different colours, one with earth/black, one with earth/black/bone

i think i'll go with the earth/black/bone, but all opinions are valid

oh, and note, this is very very rough, highlights are off, paint isn't too smooth, so don't think this is the best of whats to come

Re: Tau - a break from guard

thanks! if anything, that's my one pride

a small update, undercoated the three suits today, spray can ran out, so only two are primed. the third i'm hand priming (slowly).

also, one of the legs broke off due to a large fall while priming, so that'll be re-glued pre-paint

i hope to finish one or two this weekend, though I need to mix up a fairly large bach of the brown i need to use. we'll see how much i get done

I dropped by XV89 right after building it, and the ankles have never been the same.

Re: Tau - a break from guard

ouch. the ankle would be the worst par to break, i was lucky it was only the knee-joint dis-attaching

and some more updates: finished the first basecoat on my stealth squad, the colour isn't exactly that which i wanted, but i'm happy with it, a very neat military grey sorta thing.

pictures forthcoming, in about an hour or so (maybe less)

Re: Tau - a break from guard

    EDITED due to extreme largeness

just a test on the camo, still needs more coats, but i think i'll need to bulk up the black a bit.

    what do you think?
