Thread: JT's Plog o' Plod

  1. #321

    Re: JT's Plog o' Plod

I took some pictures of what I'm supposed to paint, but I think I forgot to transfer those pics to the comp!

In any case, I have a few things for show and tell for today.

    First up!

    A snow-scape forest!

Next, an army shot of my painted tomb king miniatures, with new color for the bases!

My pal suggested that I painted the bases the color of the sandy ground, so that the miniatures themselves would pop out more, especially on a desert-scape game board. I thought it was a nice idea and proceeded to repaint all my tomb kings army's bases as a warm-up to re-joining the tale of painters.

And last but not least, a new release for Riceball Miniatures!

    An Oni!

Thanks Daniel You don't need a Paypal account to buy from my store though. It's actually just like buying from any other online store (like Amazon or GW for that matter). You just need to use your credit card and check out like any other online store.

Well, that's the thing. Credit cards are very rare here in Holland. We never use them. That's why I do need a Paypal account. But rest assured, once I have one, I am definitely ordering!

Thanks very much E-Dog. It's people like you that keep me inspired to actually keep plugging away and showing my work here. I really appreciate it.

So I finally managed to get my pic of my July TK painting quota uploaded (some of the photo storage sites don't seem to be working for me, I'm not sure why):

So it's going to be 2 princes, 1 king and 6 skeleton warriors (the tomb swarm is my unit filler for my spears unit - couldn't find a place in my army for swarms, so might as well use them in this way, I thought)

I found sculpting both Settra's arms a little too time-consuming, so I tore them off (Oo! How many people can say they tore off Settra's arms! ) and just glued on a regular tomb king great weapon and the shield.

Well, that's all for now folks. It's on to more painting and sculpting!

Short answer: Yes! There's another product release that's in the works now before I return to the Oni

Thanks very much Lazuli. It's always nice to hear such encouraging comments.

And I have some progress on the one-off gift sculpt:

Any more guesses on what it will eventually become?
So far, what's been correctly guessed is that it's female and it's elven.

Is she gonna be holding a wine jug? Superb work so far on her. Looking forward to seeing the completed model.

    A sailor!
Or a ballet dancer doing a plié.

    Re: JT's Plog o' Plod

@Tzarinchilla: Ah no wine jug, I'm afraid... though it would be humorous!

@EmperorNorton: plie! hilarious. Never thought of that. How you know your ballet moves, though, is now what I'm wondering... do you put on the tutu every now and then?

But you did get it right! A sailor! So elvish, sailor... answer?

And plodding along... some progress on the elven sailor-ish sculpt:

I've added a shield (not a wine jug!) that still has some way to go before it's done, and sculpted the ponytail.

And also, some progress on the samurai!

I've got 11 done now, up from 6 the last time, if I remember correctly.

Loving the elven sailor, has a real uniqueness to it. Would fit right in with a GW unit but stand out as being its own thing.

Now sculpt a few dead High Elves and I'll buy a load off ya

    Re: JT's Plog o' Plod

Thanks for the compliment, Sinzaren It's actually supposed to be for a high elf player.

a bucketload of dead High Elves to fill the bases of your massive Dark Elf army eh? I'm amazed at the size of your army. Cant' wait to see the army shot.

Thanks Daniel! I hope to get it done soon.

And, after rummaging through part of my miniature collection, I find a nice piece of unused 'terrain'!

This will be serving as my 'wyrding pool' (as opposed to a 'wyrding well' - I don't have a well terrain piece lying about). This was the base that came with the Mcfarlane dragon I got for my wood elves. All I did was to stick that beastman skull in the middle and then give the whole thing a snowy paintjob.
