Blood Bowl is my only game, so though you have some other excellent work in here, I have to ask you; how's the Ogre team coming up?

Love the Ogre conversion! Your Boar Centaur is also very nicely done.

Thanks for the compliment, korinth. Unfortunately, my gaming group has left bloodbowl to gather in dust (foolish!) and focus on fantasy and 40k (well, okay maybe not so foolish). Hence, my projects have been slanted more towards projects to do with these game systems. I can't play bloodbowl against myself, so that's how it is. Still, if it makes a comeback with my group, you'll soon be seeing more bloodbowl minis on the plog!

    And more terrain for show...

I'm making terrain for an ice/snow planet, so I'm dusting everything to make it have a frosty, 'winter-y' look:

    A Statue...

    ... and a power generator...

... with a close up on the fallen statue thingamaboo that gives that atmospheric feel.

As long as one is happy with the setup... I couldn't bother with larger projects like 40k or fantasy, been thinking about painting a party for Malifaux though.

If you are interested in playing blood bowl games, but havn't got any league running you only need one more player. Built your teams to a higher TV (around 1150), and apply skill packs (something like 5 normal or 2 double over the players). Then you can try out development of differently composed teams.

The statue looks ace and the snow piles are very effectively done, particularly on the power generator, how have you done those? I would comment that from the angles given I would never have guessed it was a power generator (im sure thats just the angle though). Do you have some kind of control panel/interface on them anywhere? Would make for a nice detail.

That sounds like a brilliant idea! I'll talk to one of the more bloodbowl-inclined friends of mine and see if we can't get a game or 2 going.

You're both right... come to think of it, it's hard to spot it. It really looked the part before I piled the snow on, so I think I must have lost sight of it (literally AND metaphorically) after I put the snow on it. Thanks for the suggestion of having a control panel, I'll do one up and stick it on. I was thinking also perhaps some of those 'danger' posters stuck around somewhere will also help. Any other suggestions to improve it is always welcome.

The snow is actually a combination of a few things, randomly sprinkled here and there. The method is:

1.) sprinkle some sand on some part of the terrain.
2.) undercoat it whatever ground color you want. I went for black since all the other terrain I've made for 40k are grey.
3.) Drybrush (heavily) the sand with white paint.

After the above, if you want to add the heavy snow cover like the one on the not-so-obvious generator, apply the white wall putty in varying degrees of volume. Do not add water to the mix, just make sure the original wall putty mixture is mixed nice and evenly.

I find that the combination of sand and wall putty produces a nicer effect than just having the wall putty alone, but I've seen a friend's army which was based really quickly for snow with just the wall putty alone (no flock needed, and no need to paint, since it's already white). It achieved the desired effect quite well, so I guess it depends from person to person.

This danger sign would certainly make me think generators:

I assume its fairly standard outside the UK.

Thanks for that! I'll go print it out and stick it on the piece of terrain.

Thanks! Yes, I should get down to painting the crew next...

Well, what I've done, however, is to make and paint more terrain. I'm kinda on a terrain-making high.

    Here's this week's effort:

    And some more stairs:

Not the prettiest of terrain, I have to admit, but it's functional and fast to do, which is the whole point of what I'm doing for my terrain now. I've had grandoise projects that end up languishing in the cupboards that never see the light of day. This terrain projects are fast and easy to do (thus will see the light of day), and because of their neutral, dull colors, will help the miniatures to stand out well. At least, that's excuse ...

After all the plain pieces of terrain are done, then I'll get my pal to help me to paint the more intricate stuff like the buildings and whatnot. There'll be that inspiration then to finish off the terrain (I hope!).

Thanks guys. The mural is actually a real army recruitment advertisement in a magazine.
    Here's how I did it:
1.) I cut it out and glued it on the white foam board that I used to make the walls.
2.) Then I cut it at certain places to make it look like it had been hit by a massive firefight.
3.) I undercoated the white foam board black, but carefully leaving the magazine advertisement part untouched.
4.) I then drybrushed successively lighter shades of grey onto the walls and floor. On the final highlight, I also drybrushed over the magazine advertisement to make it blend with the wall.

Thanks! I'll keep plugging away. I have a game planned for next month so it should give me enough time to do up enough painted terrain for it.

    Re: JT's Plog o' Plod

Because of the 40k terrain I've been doing, I've been inspired to re-base and touch up my daemons army.

Here's a shot of my great unclean one:

and the image below is of my Daemon Prince, Angcalagon the Black (still WIP)!

(WARNING: Some nudity here... don't scroll down if you would be offended by it or want to hide it from the eyes of a child or are in the office)

So the story is that this Daemon Prince once fought and captured an Inquisitor called Inrid. He fused what remained of her broken body to his armor, keeping her alive and conscious through foul magicks, ensuring that she lives her pain unceasing. Angcalagon uses Inrid as an psychic augment, boosting his already formidable sorcerous power.

Anyway, I sculpted Inrid onto Angcalagon some time back and never got down to painting the model. The recent 40k craze of mine revived interest in this project and of course, I had to paint what I had sculpted first, just to see how it turned out.

Sorry about the 'some nudity' thingamaboo... how should I warn people so that they won't be offended or inconvenienced? Or is what I have done appropriate enough?

It's interesting that anyone would worry about nudity when in fact the warning is about a severed body on a great demon. Great job anyway!

Ah well, back then I was thinking "hm, these new daemons seem like a cool thing to explore... the cruelty without the conscience to temper it... I wonder if we were bereft of emotion, of compassion, how would I express this on a model?"

Not to worry, I'm still me . It was just a thought and an expression of it.

Thanks HereBeDragons, I'll be tying in the army with the bases, which will be snow themed, given that my terrain is snow-themed. That's the only way I see it being possible while giving the various powers their respective colors.
