Well, generally I start with some florist wire and bend them into a rough 'skeleton' of what I want to sculpt, and then add and shape balls of putty from there. I use the traditional metal sculpting tool for shaping, but I think you can get clay shapers if you like them better. Some people swear by them.

FU-UK! (FU stands for Frothers Unite... and I suspect they might be taking a cheeky swipe with the acronym, though I can't be sure) is a forum for miniatures as well. For an idea of what they're like, this is their typical welcome to new forum members (scroll down to see some of the replies) . The idea is not to take them too seriously and if you have the appropriate mindset, it can be quite funny. There's a time and place for everything, and they do fill a place for that kind of time . Not for everyone, though...

I'm convinced that neither tool works. At all.

I've finally gotten the Hasslefree kiddies painted and they're ready to be shipped to Daniel, our resident Zelda and erstwhile sausage-slayer to do part 2 of the painting and the basing.

Some pics before they get magically transported to the other side of the world...

@Daniel: Wow, you've played a lot of pc games I see Well, you'll be holding these in your hands soon...

Now I'm wondering what to paint for my tk army now... I've been a little lazy where painting them is concerned and I've got like 5 chariots and 2 liche priests to paint before I'm done with the 2k for the ToFP. I'm a little uncertain now though. What do I paint?

Should I paint character models for now? Maybe the rumors will firm up a little by April and I could decide better then...

The kids do look great. Kudos.

I feel they need to be used - maybe some kind of D&D/Pathfinder campaign referencing the youthfulness of the D&D cartoon characters?

Yeah! Well, they WILL be used in my Empire army, I have a very special plan for them.
I wish I had the guts to try D&D again, but I don't. Instead I will just focus on Chronicles.

For the TK i'd probably go characters, as I'm sure with new chariots their may be a few extra nice bits you may want to add to your existing ones? Perhaps.

Have to say I like the kiddies, pretty funky, I might also be tempted to get a few of the samurai to paint for your TK I would be tempted to hold off painting anything until the models come out because we both know if the new models are damn sweet going to be buying them even if you have the older version!

Thanks! I won't be putting anything on the bases because Daniel36 will! So once these guys get to him, you'll have to jump over to his blog to see what he does with them next

This cross-plog thing is fun. I'll probably do more of this in time to come...

They do look that way, don't they? Hasslefree has some of these really great-looking miniatures that are also very nice to paint.

I can't wait to see what you will do with them

I think you're right! That's a good suggestion. I'll go do that. I have a Settra somewhere that I've been wanting to field as a TK on foot after I do some light conversion work... now the question is if I can find him in the models storage bin...

Thanks for the compliment on the kiddies!
You're most welcome to get some samurai
And you're right about the TK, the rumors do sound very promising I might just do one character in between to keep my interest in the project up. I did mention a Settra model somewhere... now to find it...

Thank you logan054 for expressing the exact sentiment I was looking for. These kiddies are indeed pretty funky.

I'm looking forward to Settra now.

I found my Settra model! Nothing much to show now, so photos of him will come a little later when the work on him has been more substantial.

    Totally sweet! Love 'em!

Are you going to be using them as stand-ins for Warhammer or are they going to be for another game? And ranked or skirmish?
