Indeed! Seraphon is too much of a 'man of the match' not to. And yes, I should tell my pal to give him a promotion. In the grand scheme of things, he may have been just another marine on another hostile planet, but from the individual perspective, he has done some rather superhuman things! For other than the grey kerniggits, who else has encountered and bested so many daemons?

Hm... actually, for a really cool story hook, I should ask another friend of mine who plays SoB to play against him next. The Inquisition send their forces to 'purify' the planet, in the course of which, they encounter these marines, who have been there for several months/years! Have they turned rogue?...

Thanks for the compliment on the halfling

    Nice scenery setup as well!

you are one of the few lucky ones that has realized 40K needs this much large scenery to work. I will soon start work on my own 40k table and I will steal your roads Idea a little.

Nice halfling! Can I ask if you have any tips on sculpting hands? When converting my blood bowl team I ended up having to fix/resculpt a fair few and generally they turned out pretty bad. Certainly they're my weakest part of the models.

Thanks for the compliment! Yes, the terrain indeed is as essential as the armies. As for thr roads - Steal away!

The easiest way to rectify the problem would be to give them a hand guard on the back of their hands, like on the back of the hand of the halfling samurai. If u want to cover even more and avoid sculpting any fingers at all, check out my bloodbowl ogre. If u give him a hand guard that covers most of his hand, u don't have to worry abt it at all.

If u still want to know, I can post up a tutorial with pics, because teaching sculpting without pics is like trying to grasp water in one's hands.

Dont mind if I do. Big large scenery really levels the playing field and throws a wrench in the works of the whole inet list thing. I am always surprised how everybody ignores the bit in setup that says 25% of the table is scenery.

Not to try and derail the thread; but I would advice to get a set of "clay shapers" rubber tipped tools. They are not too expensive and they are the best tools for GS work

    Re: JT's Plog o' Plod

I like the Halfling Daimyo (and the spearmen, too). However, my advice for you is: try to sculpt sharper edges on your models (example given, the sun hat helmets), since your miniatures look a bit blunt when compared to those of other manufacturers. You could also aim for a bit more detail in the models, such as more cloth folds and wrinkles, studs, tassels and little rope knots that seem to have been common on Samurai armour. Your minis are not bad, but when selling stuff, improvement is vital for expansion. I hope you continue to sculpt a lot of Nipponese stuff, and soon enough also conquers a little niche akin to how Titan Wargames did before the Warhammer Forge Chaos Dwarfs: http://www.titanwargames.com/

Good idea about Nipponese Halflings, by the way! Know that we expect at least one Samurai dwarf, like GW produced in the ol' days: http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:OHx-01.jpg

Sculpting hands is quite tricky, but I actually find it more difficult to sculpt eyes. As with everything, the key to success is to practice. Also, look at your own hands or photos of hands, and try to repeat the way fingers bend on a model sculpt. The back of the hand is hard to get right, but you might want to look on Lotr miniatures for realistic hand sculpts (such as in this video, from about 3:30 and onward- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8hsLBDZqSc). The best hand sculpting tutorial I've found is this one: http://xenite.wordpress.com/modeling...th-greenstuff/

Thanks for the links Karak! Im sure they will come in useful for the future. That xenite one was particularly impressive. I feel I should get some better tools for next time, the GW sculpting tool struggles too much with the finer work.

@Karak Norn Clansman: Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to hear what people think about my stuff.

@bluewolf74727: Thanks for the compliment. And indeed, here is more:

    It's a shape-changing kitsune!

I haven't been able to do much else, painting-wise, other than to prepare for this release. My four month old keeps me really busy these days...

Still, I'm happy I managed to get this prepped and now it's out there. Hope you like it!

Very cool new mini! I wonder if we'll see these as Sabretusks in the Nippon-themed Ogre armies out there.

Its a Wii game (originally a PS2 game, but the wii versions better). All based around japanese mythology. Its a brilliant game if you like the action adventure zelda type games. The artwork is all made to look like japanese brushwork and looks stunning. One of the best games available for the wii in my opinion!

The Kitsune's really well done, nice job on getting the whites so crisp. I know about those 4-month youngsters... it can be hard to get them to focus long enough to get some good painting assistance out of them. They inevitably tend to try and eat the brushes, don't they?
