    Safe-house Games

    With the departure of one of the Safe-house residents, we felt it wrong to continue with our "Epic of three gamers" thread as our new Safe-house resident is not a gamer/painter/collector (for now, mwhahahahhaha). This period of transition was quite difficult for Silentsmoke and myself, hence no posts for quite some time. Now that every thing has settled here we have decided it appropriate to begin anew.

    So the people you can expect to see here regularly are now:

    Wulfen_Kind (Resident - DAs)
    Silentsmoke (Resident - DKoK)
    Wolfen (Veteran Member - 'Nids, Necron Menace, Smurfs, Sons of Russ, Blood sucking mother F%$@ing Angels, Heretics & Space Elves)
    toonboy78 (Member - GKs & Cheese wielding Marines)
    Commandojimbob (Member - Tau & Necron menace)

    I have been working on my DA battle company which should be completed very shortly, with the view to be building a Shadowsword Domination Force Apoc formation to play Silentsmoke at some serious "Spearhead" games utilising the full length of our 6'x12' surface. Silentsmoke has been doing his usual thing of filling FWs coffers with Gold pieces and questing for world domination with millions and billions of DKoK infantry advancing under the overwhelming barrage of artillery and rumbling of steel death.

    So here are some pictures of our new and more efficient arrangement:

    Well, good to see you up and running again. I'm resisting the urge to ask what happened to Alex_H, I assume you didn't sacrifice him to the ruinous powers. The new arrangement looks great, although I feel for your non-gaming housemate.

    As requested, here are some pictures from a 5000pt Apoc game with my DAs and Commandojimbob's Necron menace, good game. Commandojimbob won, I believe mainly due to the ridiculous amount of warriors on the board, for them to phase out I would have had to reduce their number to 31 models FFS over all a good game, shame about the time restraints...

    Ah yes - you've gotta love fielding 110 Necrons Warriors ! Anyway, my contribution to the above (hopefully not to biased) :

    Our forces :

    Necrons – Since my bargain ex-GW shop display army did not include much Elite, I had no formations, but I had a shed load of Warriors

    Nightbringer
    Deceiver (Once this bad boy gets in combat he is awesome)
    Lord - Res Orb, Warscythe, Phase Shift, Veil, Gaze, Phylactery, Shroud
    Destroyer Lord - Res Orb, Warscythe, Phase Shift, Gaze, Phylactery, Shroud
    1x 20 Warriors (Lord joined)
    6x 15 Warriors
    1x 5 Destroyers (Destroyer Lord joined)
    4x 2 Destroyers
    3x 6 Scarab Bases with disruption fields
    4x Heavy Destroyers (in units of 1)
    2x Tomb Spiders
    2x Monoliths
    Strategic Asset : Resurrection Scarabs (Awesome !)

    Wulfens DA - Knowing full well he was up against Necrons, he did not bother much with Vehicles, and how could blame him.

    1x 5 Grey-Knight Terminators with psycannon, Brother Captain with psycannon
    3x 5man Shooty Terminator units each with Assault Cannon
    Landraider Crusader housing (with Chronus upgrade):
    1x 6 Assault Terminators with Lightning Claws
    1x Chaplain in Termie Armour
    2x 10 Assault Marines with x2 plasma pistols, Sgt with power weapon & Plasma pistol
    2x 10 Sternguard in Drop Pods, each unit had 2 Plasmaguns and 5 combi-meltas, each Sgt. had Plasma pistol and Power weapon
    1x 10 Man Devastator Squad with x4 Lascannons
    2x Thunderfire Cannons (I really rate these at the moment)
    3x DeathStorm Drop Pods (2 Whirlwind, 1 Assault Cannon)
    2x Lightnings (each with x4 Hellstrike missiles)
    Ancients Assault Force Formation: (which did F@%k all by the way)
    1x Techmarine with thunder hammer
    2x Dread with Assault Cannons + CC
    1x Venerable Dread with Plasmacannon + CC
    1x Venerable Dread with Twin Lascannon + Missile Launcher
    1x Venerable Dread with Assault Cannon + Missile Launcher
    Strategic Asset : The one where you can re-load all your fired hunter killer missiles !

    Ok so this is no battle report, but I will give some accounts of stand out moments during the game which took about 8 hours to play and ended turn 5 :

    o I went first, and decided to use Veil of Darkness straight away, promptly misshaped on a scatter but was only delayed (first thing I did) – with the rest of my Turn 1 doing nothing, with Wulfen rolling great save dice, saving everything (I feared this would be how the game panned out).

    o Termies with L. Claws and Chaplain assaulted a unit of 15 Warriors, after forgetting they were in a LR (doh) – and although being beaten up severly – I managed to kill 2 Termies for the Destroyer Lord and a Tomb Spider to join tie them up a couple of turns, and kill them (gotta love Warscythe and T6).

    o Deathwind Drop Pods all rolled “Hits” (Wulfen managing to roll hits about 80% of the entire game) and promptly caused in total, on about 5 different untis (3x Warriors, Destroyers, Monolith, H Destroyer, Nightbinger), about 40 saves – thankfully, power armour + WBB + resurrection Scarabs = few casualties . It took about an Hour (maybe a bit more) to just work out and roll for this attack alone.

    o Assault Marines were butchered. One unit lost about 6 to mass destroyer fire and fell back. A DS’ed monolith appeared behind the other unit, and 4 Termies and the 4 fallen back guys – 15 warriors appear out of portal and were charged by termies and 14 assault marines – Warriors die – consolidations saw squishy assault marines bunch up to be Fire Arched, destroyer shot and Particle whipped, killing 13 Assault marines. The termies die to mass fire next turn.

    o Lord veiled back in near back of board and promptly ripped a Thunderfire apart (I hate these, they are nasty), who was subsequently charged by 10 Termies. After managing to kill 2 (thanks warscythe , 20 Necrons and gaze of flame), but losing about 7 warriors, running away – I got recharged by 6 (they lost 2 to shooting), I lost combat by 4 but rolled a 6 meaning I could jump out of there next turn – leaving 6 Termies out of harms way !

    o Lord unit then jumped near one of the Dreads (see below) and through mass Gauss fire immobilized it and took both weapons off – then jumped again in Turn 5, covering one of the minor objectives.

    o Dreads arrived turn 2 and 9 Scarab bases (kept near mass of orce for this very eventuality) managed to hold the 2 Dreads until end of the game – initial turn 2 charge saw one Dread lose its DCCW.

    o Wulfens Grey Knights Teleported in near the Destroyer Lord / Tomb Spider / Termies combat, in front of 15 Warriors – The Deceiver had positioned well – he charged in killing one (damn rolls) losing 1 wound. Wulfens turn, Deceiver jumps out of combat leaving 4 GKs open, promptly losing 2 to Destroyer fire, with Deceiver jumping into Combat with a dread, ripping DCCW off, then jumping out and then into another dread, promptly doing the same !

    o A Venerable Dread charged a unit of 15 warriors with the Techmarine, placing as many warriors around techmarine as I could. Suffice to say it bogged them down, and in came the Deceiver !

    o The 2 10 man Sternguard landed near the Deathwinds but thankfully I had my other 9 scarabs near by. One 10 man unit lost 3 guys to shooting, but assaulting 12 Warriors to which they were held there rest of game, slowly being reduced down to 4. The other 10 were charged by 9 scarabs, who finally shook them off his turn 4 – but for my turn 5, if not ended, would of seen them being Particle whipped and then charged by a Nightbringer.

    o Destroyer lord was killed in combat by a Dread – he had 1 wound left, to which the dread took off, but I did blow it up in return. Decided to use resurrection Scarabs on him and promptly rolled a 1 - feck!

    o A note on the Thunderfires – they were awesome – along with the Deathwinds, they probably did the most damage to my Necron Hordes !

    So at the end – I held the central objective by 4 Destroyers and 6 Warriors, Wulfen_Kind held 2 minors and the other 2 were contested. We ended turn 5 as Wulfen had no way to get any more than 2 and if it went to turn 6, the 5 Marines from devastators (combat squaded away from Lascannons) had a Lord and 12 Warrios about 2” away – which would of seen me disengage the lord for assault and rapid fire into them, whilst moving up to contest.

    I think we added up at the end i still had about 60 Necron units - so still needing about another 30 casualties.

    Looks like it was a pretty good game then. I absolutely love the shot of the Devestators with the Lascannons looking out over the battlefield and spotting the monolith!

    Well, spotting it and then realising that they hadn't properly charged their lascannon's batteries

    Edited my post for your correct list Wulfen !

    Lascannons did not do too bad - Don't forget Wulfen, you got 4 weapon destroyed results on the Red Monolith, thats a massive -4 on the Gauss Flux Arc

    right then, result of last night game

    my list is a few posts back

    wulfen_kind took

    chaplain in TA
    7 terms with LC
    crusader
    ven dread in pod with plasma cannon
    dread in pod with assault cannon
    tact in pod PG PC
    2 tacts PG PG PW and MB

    silentsmoke rolled mission and set up for us...2 6's DOW and annihalation

    Wulfen_kind went first

    he deployed his 2 tact in some big buildings. i didn't have anything to deploy.

    his first turn saw the 2 dreads come in, the ven on target and the other one scatter 10" way back to his side of the table. crusader rolled on 12"

    my turn 1.....my 2 dread landed next to his raider, my redeemer moved on 12" and the normal raider moved on 6". i made a sligt error in shooting due to that i forgot about my search lights, however...ironclad hit failed to pen. dread hit...pen the KABOOM. crusader out turn1. my redeemer then failed to spot the dread/or pod can't remember, and the normal raider failed to see the ven.

    turn 2

    no reserves turned up so he moved both dreads twards my raiders and popped smoke. he shot my dread with a tact and took off both its CCW arm and stunned it.

    one of my speeders turned up and adropped near his dread and that went pop. the iron clad marched over to a tact squad and got in to combat with that. my raider tried to shoot the ven again but didn't do anything. redeemer moved forwad and took out a pod.

    turn 3

    tact squad turned up and dropped in so it could shoot at my land speeder. which they did and took off it heavy flamer and made it so it couldn't shoot. other tact shot the other arm off the dread. the ven assauted my raider and hit with all 3 attacks then failed to do any damage. i think the ironclad finished off the tact (they ran off)

    my tact squad came in and dropped near that ven and with 2 melta shots it sorted it out. edeemer moved a little forward and positioned itself nicely for the tact squad and the 2 flamestorm templates caused 11 hits which killed them all! ironclad took out a pod and the dread assaulted the terms, who would be unable to harm it.

    turn 4

    by this point wulfen_kind didn't have much left and shot his tact squad at a pod, no damage and hos terms were still locked in with my dread

    i moved my redeemer over and out got Vulkan and his term bodyguard. another speeder came in and shot the tact killing 1. ironclad took out the last pod.

    my terms assualted his terms and killed all but 1! he had enought and promptly legged it.

    turn 5

    well it was a sorry place for wulfen_kind to be (afternoon beers were taking their toll now) and with a final bit of shooting he took a weapon off a speeder and in my last turn i moved over to his last squad ready if we went to another turn

    luckily for Wulfen_kind the game ended and when we added up the KP it was 10-0 to me.....(a bit of bad form on my part as i don't think you go to someones house and tonk them...sorry mate)

    i liked my list just need a little more practise......Wolfen SW or BA next.........hopefully
