    Binds when watched, +2 randomness

    Hey everyone.

Seems that once you start investing in a few systems and more tabletop stuff it's more or less inevitable you start one of 'em random logs.

    So, here is mine.

Currently in the works; a birthday present for a friend of mine. Been working on it since last weekend, and it is turning out rather nicely.

This time I am trying to keep it low with speedpainting and getting it done-techniques. Just washes to smooth things out here and there, and a bit of drybrushing were it would actually add something to the mini rather than just quick and dirty highlighting.

Things that are left to do; 2nd layer of red on the spears (red ones kill faster), the ropes or whatever that connect speartips with the sticks, all leathery bits, cleaning up some of the teeth, details on the banner and the bases.

    The banner looks very good.
The highlights on the robes are a bit too bright for my taste, though.

I wanted to go for a bit of shiny leather approach (testing out stuff for my SM-Nazichicks in Incursion), also I had them toned down a lot with badab black... but the highlights were too subtle for tabletop gaming - making them look almost just primed (then again, it might have been just the right amount once everything else is done... learning all the time ).
So, I went back and re-highlighted but the highest / most raised parts. It's very effective under typical tournament conditions (bad lighting) though.

They guy who gets 'em can decide wether he wants 'em overly popping or tone 'em back down using a black wash. I think I don't dare to go back and ruin stuff, I have a habit of managing that just before the finish line

I regularly fall into the trap of highlights being too subtle, so I can understand where you are coming from.
They look great, don't get me wrong. It's just that the fifth picture makes it look like they have a glow in the dark effect.

Been taking a break from the Goblins for the weekend and built me some Ork buildings. I got 3 in total, and decided to paint one up just to get a feeling for how much time it will take... it's still WIP though.

The ladder isn't finished, I am missing some oildrums to put in front of the first floor door and the Post didn't bring the package including some ice poles... so I couldn't chop up some ice poles and do the building in a proper, orky style.
Also, I am not satisfied with the checkered pattern... used a piece of wood and stamped away. Gonna use a sponge on the next building, and see if that is any better.

Also, built and primed my first bunch of Lootas.

Love the gold on the Goblins. They are very nicely painted.

I am not sure if I can like the Ork house... I don't know... It just feels like it should be yellow, but perhaps that is just my autistical brain not willing to accept the fact that everything is open to interpretation. That said, the way it is built looks very nice. I do like the dirt effect and the glyphs as well.

Oi dere... dem boyz be dun'

I am quite pleased with the bunch. No exaggeration when I say they are the best-looking miniatures I have painted thus far. No flock cause I am clueless what base-material the guy is using who's gonna get them (the lucky git )

As Emperor Norton suggested, I toned the hard highlights down in certain places.

    @Daniel36: Thanks

Well, yeah... yellow... however, I am playing on a very dark table right now, and my own table is either going to be ash wastes or a snowfield... so, bright yellow desert houses would feel a bit out of place. Blackish walls also seem to fit the GOFF style nicely that I am aiming for... now with the goblins done and my ice sticks in the mail today orkifying 'dem fingz properly will probably start by tomorrow evening.

Like the varied skin tones on the gobbos, and the Ork house looks very 2nd edition 40k.

I like the lot - a lot! Understand the comments on the highlight, although I often make them a bit bright myself, as it works well on the tabletop. Your banner is just great, your friend had better be happy for this gift..

    Been a while...

Finished another present, this time it's Eiryss for the same friend who recieved the Gobbos a while ago.

    Tell me what you think:

These delicate Warmachine-models are quite tough to paint in my opinion, and there is an awful lot of detail there that serves no real purpose except being there

I really enjoyed painting the cloak and her face though, tried something new on the blades too (with mixed results).

Very nice. I like the basing and of course the green back of the cloak. The quiver on the hip looks excellent too. I see what you mean about the detail. I think that an awful lot of companies are overdoing the detail on miniatures nowadays because they still think that more detail equals better miniature.

The blades look fine to me; maybe the dagger's blade could do with some tidying up towards the heft(?) but overall they look good. Are you going to add a layer of matte varnish in the end?

Oh well, after some discussion on CMON I think it's not that great at all anymore. Mainly because I didn't take pictures BEFORE varnishing... wether or not this one will get hit by some anti shine is up to the guy owning the mini now.

Good thing I have another one for my own army that I am going to paint at some point, so I can try my best there.

I personally dislike to paint minis with a lot of (unnecessary) details. That's why I gave my Space Hulk stuff to you. Talking about that, did you check my reply on your offer yet? Today I had an idea, maybe we can get the Space Crusade stuff done in best quality, for your price if you might be interested in cash and about 200-300€ worth (depending were you buy it ) of current 40K Orc models?
