Steel legion - goodbye & farewell

    heya,

As a long time lurker on these boards i've finally decided to post up my steel legion army which has been sitting around for nearly a decade now! I'm looking to get rid of the army, but i do want some sort of record of the time i used to invest in it.

After a ten year hiatus i've got back into playing with toy soldiers. These photos were taken about a year ago.

So my Steel legion army, I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Cool. I got into the hobby around about the Armageddon campaign. So the steel legion are cool in my book. You need to PM an admin/ moderator to change the topic title as far as I know.

Some very cool conversions here. Good use of brass rod. Semaphore is perfect, very 40k in how backwards it is!

    A really nice characterful army

The medic and turret gunner especially. Not so keen on the use of the cadian commander figure - I think the platoon commander is a much nicer figure (I'll be steeling that one )

Love your SL collection, some amazing conversions here too. MY favourite would have to be that Medic or the Standard Bearer.

Re: Steel legion - goodbye & farewell

    Well... back again it seems.

I'm going to try and keep up my painting regularly. I have a regular couple of people i play against now so i'm getting urges to paint so i can have a really bang tidy army on the table.

I've pulled out a squad i started over 8 months ago! (that must have been the last time i painted anything!) Since then I've had one broken relationship, moved twice and got a promotion at work (in that order), so 2011 has been a rollercoaster year!

But things should be settling down now and the long nights makes for great painting time!

here's how far i got in the spring with them:

love them, but i am partial to the old school Imperial Guard armies.
i am currently collecting Valhallan and Praetorian Guard.

i could never bear to part with them, they were my only friends growing up

    great looking models

Steel Legion are my favorite official guard army, no question. Your command squad conversions are superb - the commands with the nose tub is particularly fancy. That's a great way of keeping him in theme without covering up his wonderfully dour face.

    Excellent stuff, keep it coming!
