    The Kingdom of Rohan

"The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time."

I have finally started Lord of the Rings. Watching the movies again has really inspired me to finally start a force. Being mostly a Warhammer 40k player, I was looking for something a little bit different. I like the fact that LotR is a skirmish game, and the fact that building an army is relatively cheap compared to other wargames.

I decided on my chosen force of Rohan because I really like their role in the story. The battle of Pelennor fields was a memorable moment as well, especially Theoden's speech before charging into battle.

My brother who is also starting up Lord of the Rings has made his own log, check it out Here

With that I give you my first finished models.

Looking great so far. I like how nice and neat your painting style is, as well as the muted tones you've used. Keep it up

Thanks Orodreth, glad you like them.

I painted Eomer today. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. He ended up being quite easy to paint. He doesn't look the best close up but looks nice from table top distance.

Here's a picture of the finished force as of now.

Very nicely done, the dirt on the capes is a nice touch.
I'm a Rohir at heart myself, have been ever since I first read the books some 15 years ago.
    Looking forward to more!

Awesome! Clean and effective way to paint. I have a Rohirrim army planned as well (see it as 10 year plan ).
What is next to be painted? ^^

Very nice rohirrim, and eomer is spot on, always liked the first miniature they did of him on his horse rather than the newer one, and you've done great justice to model very clean red armour.

    Thanks everyone.

Here is Erkenbrand on horse. I have to say, both Erkenbrand and Eomer were a lot of fun to paint.

Up next I have Gamling with a royal standard bearer, Erkenbrand on foot, and more riders/normal on foot warriors.

More excellent work, I especially love the colour of the horse. The shield looks really good as well.

Great looking models. I must admit that painting the characters in LOTR is great as they have some of the best looking models out there.
    I'm back.

Tonight Michael, I am going to be painting... My painting plog. Come and have a look.

This is great stuff, I just posted on your brothers thread too.
I really like your warriors of Rohan on foot. The brown you have used on their clothes and shields makes them very distinctive, I like it a lot. Can I ask what paints you used?
