Made my own GUO with a LotR Treeman, spare Daemon Prince bits and Hot Glue for my "Daemon Forest" army.
It stands as tall as the FW Kipper but fits fine on a 50mm base

So, I see a lot of people loving fiends. How much better are they than crushers? Is the better movement, extra wound and lower price enough to offset the better weapon skill, strength and killing blow of the crushers?

Hey all. What should I think about adding to this 2.5k list to take it up to 3k?
For me it's either something like a biggish unit of Plaguebearers, some Slaaneshi Chariots or a Soul Grinder.Lords

Any of those would be fine options. Keep in mind that the list is illegal currently. You can only have 2 units of the same rare choice, your fiends will have to be changed around.
I was wondering...
Once the current white dwarf with the upgraded rules and units will be out of sale. how will new players know that the AB they bought for daemons is not really "valid"?
If you live in Toronto and would like to have a game of WHFB, I'm Just a PM away
Either a) they won't because GW are stupid (I don't think you can get any of the sisters of battle rules from GW at the moment!) or b) they'll release it for ipad, possibly when the full book goes didgital, because GW are stupid or c) they'll add it to the pdf errata because GW aren't stupid. The Correct answer is probably that the new book is out by febuary (that's the current rumour) and so it's not a priority to provide the rules in any format other than WD.

concerning the update, what about tzeentch chariots, do their screamers change as well (as usual nice of gw to overlook stuff they can't sell models for yet)
I guess I'll just have to clear this with any tourney organizsers before I play......
Happiness is having an alibi and a big backyard to bury the bodies
What are peoples thoughts on Ku'gath? I only play tested him once tho he never made it into combat but his shooting attack and ability to poop out more nurglings was very effective. Should I still keep to the balesword GUO or give him a few more trys.
I think a bump is needed here! At the bottom of the last page. I guess all of us are waiting for the new rulebook and hopefully the goodies thats comes with it. But that is still some time away!
So to teh topic of discussion. I have just wonn a Keeper for a nice small sum. And how to field the guy?
I have browsed the web too see different builds, and some nice ideas.
For thoose of you that have used him before, how does it work best? And what type of units do you run with him?
I cant run a pure slaanesh list. So will mix in from the other gods aswell.
Is the ld banner needed for him to be any good? I dont have it in my list now, but can make room for it.
I was thinking lvl 3, allure of slaanesh and soul hunger. With that I will prob get LD banner to make the allure more useful.
So, thought?
At 2500 pts games, LV4, Allure, Siren, Torment Blade.
Check Lord Inquisitor's Battle reports - he won a 5 game tournament with a Slaanesh army~ (:
The biggest problem for the keeper is 5 Wounds - a cannon can remove him with some luck on turn 1, 2 cannons have a much easier time getting rid of it right away, anything more will just guarantee it and there goes your general and all his points..
If you can survive heavy shooting lists, you can heal him back up with Lore of Life or Spirit Swallower~
lots of possibilities.
Sorry to bring this up again, but I don't think there was ever a definitive answer...
Does the torment blade give +1 attack on the basis of it being an additional hand weapon? I know it can (and has!) be argued either way, but what is the general ruling at comps in particular, especially etc based ones? My personal opinion is that does. Thanks.
A rules-question rather than a tactics-question..
I am - as I would imagine the vast majority of people - in the 'camp' that simply ignores the Hand Weapon description in the Staff of Change/Torment Blade entries.
I Think it's an oversight of the designer - a moment's forgetfullness of the fact that Daemons do not have mundane Equipment.
It doesn't say 'Extra Hand Weapon' either.
In the case of the Torment Blade adding an extra attack to a Keeper for the manageable cost of 5pts also looks rather 'off', wouldn't you agree?
Sorry, I should have put more emphasis on the ruling at comps that people have encountered. I know many people take your view which seems based on points value, there are loads of cases where items are undervalued. I dont agree that the hand weapon is an oversight either, gw have had multiple chances to amend via errata if that was the case. With daemons there is no provision for additional hand weapons, many armies can give an extra attack to their general for small sums too. I can understand both sides to the argument, however allowing the extra attack seems more based on the actual rules, even though they are as clear as mud in this case.
After a long break I'm dusting off my daemons again, I used to take torment blade on all my slaanesh heralds because with the extra attack its a no brainier. I have a game at the weekend using mono slaanesh, so was hoping to get an idea of the general consensus on this. Except for siren song, the other gifts seem fairly poor, if torment blade doesn't give the extra attack, I guess the majority will be running naked, in both senses.
Has anyone had much luck with big units of fiends? I'm looking to run a 6 and single in my next battle, in a mono slaanesh 3000. Quite an investment though points wise, but brings some much needed strength 4.
@ Drago Daemonis:
In the case of the 'Hand weapon' issue we're just gonna have to settle at a disagreement I suppose. What the 'Hand weapon'-description is doing there in the first Place is a damn mystery because 'Daemonic Gifts' are otherwise described as not weapons per say - in the sense that they represent 'abilities' or 'perks' rather than an actual 'item' (such as Magic Items).
So I find it a bit rules-lawyery to claim that the Staff of Change/Torment Blade would grant an exta attack - but Firestorm Blade, Balesword, Axe of Khorne (etcetera?) doesn't(!).
To be fair, the Staff of Change would pretty much be crap even if you did get an extra attack (well not for a LoC perhaps) but - and like you say yourself - the Torment Blade becomes a no-brainer if you play it like that.. A no-brainer for the HoS and totally off-the-charts undercosted for the KoS.
That fact by itself is enough for me, personally, to not feel like pushing this issue with my friends.
It's true what you say though, pretty much anyway - Siren Song is the only general go-to Gift for Slaanesh Daemons (a bit too much of a no-brainer too) aside of Spirit Swallower for the Keeper of Secrets.
Running Fiends in units of 6 is definately Worth doing if you're playing mono-slaanesh. I mean: What other choice to you have for delivering some punch in combat outside of the Keeper? I've run units of 6 in mixed lists as well, with varied results. It's a pretty expensive unit when you concider that you can't front-charge a lot of stuff - but a very potent flanking hammer if you're facing T3 stuff. Superb speed and agility.
That is the problem with mono slaanesh really, good vs t3 but struggles against tougher stuff. Re the torment blade, it would only work for characters on foot, it certainly won't give the extra attack for heralds on a steed or chariots as per the main rule book, and I agree on the keeper, I think its pushing it even if following raw. I like running spirit swallower anyway so no room for tb. Great as a defensive mechanism but also to encourage throwing him into action.
Personally I would back the extra attack on heralds on foot, unless my opponents have a real problem, I'm hardly power gaming though with mono slaanesh so I can't see it being an issue. Will try the big block of fiends, will be interesting. Considering there will be a kos ex chariot and a soul grinder (slaanesh themed) I think the fiends should avoid being shot off the table.
