@Mr. Shine - when I run 40 warriors it is always in the widest formation possible to maximize. They start at 10 wide and go higher from there if able to get all the models in. They pretty much wreck everything in combat - but they make a mighty big target. Cool points for filling up your entire core % with one unit though.

Currently Listening to (Keeping me sane whilst painting) - Deuce - Nine Lives
So u run them 2 deep 5 wide??

I have 10 knights, and I generally field them in 2 blocks of 5 for multiple threats. You have to be careful about this though because if your meta has a lot of Lore of Shadow or Lore of Metal you can be one spell away from a very bad day. Luckily my meta is free of said lores.
When I run them in big blocks I run them as wide as possible - either 5 or 6 wide to start, wider if I am staring down a horde or the flank of a steadfast bus. The ability to change formations on the fly is one of the reasons I have started taking musicians on my bigger units.

Ok I'm playing a game this Friday, a friendly one at my local club and am still waiting on my lord on jug. So I come up with this lord on foot in the meantime.
MoK
Berserker sword
Dawnstone
Enchanted shield
Gamblers armor
So that upto 9 str 5 attacks, a +2 armor save reroll able and a 6+ ward save.
I only looked at this for 5 minutes but is there anyway I could tweak it?? I'm running a mono khorne army.

Illegal combo; two items from the magic armour list. Also saves are written n+ (+n designates a modifer; there is a big difference between +1 to a save and a 1+ save). Also remember if you were to give him heavy armour it would replace his default chaos armour. Based on this I'd suggest dropping the Gamblers Armour as a 6+ ward isn't too likely to trigger, even on 3 wounds.
Now those niggles are out of the way what kind of targets is your lord going to be attacking? At the moment he is optimised for killing T3 5+ armour chaff (or elf elites :P). Personally I think that's a bit of a waste. Sticking to your rerollable 2+ theme, I'd give him either the Axe of Khorne (+1S, Kb) or the Sword of Might and Helm of Many Eyes (+1S, ASF for rerolls). If your opponents tend to put a lot of characters in a single unit the Sword of Anti-Heroes is always a good laugh. Even against a unit containing a single character the SoA-H is good value.

What is the advantage of the 50x50mm based lord in a unit of knights? I was thinking of getting the mounted Nurgle Lord for my army, but then thought it would be bad strategically since he takes up 2 spots in the front line and I would be better off with a mounted lord on a standard 25x50mm base. If I get the Nurgle Lord should I (can I) mount him on a standard cavalry base instead of the the larger one he comes with?
As long as you use him as a lord on standard chaos steed (better idea, anyways) then yes. He will fit, for sure.
Daemonic mounts are a pretty bad choice right now, since fear is ******, they prevent the lord from getting a LoS, they give less armour than a normal mount, and they don't attack -that- much better to be worth 34 more points.
Help me with my campaign rules! http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324441
They are alright for a 'roving' hero choice though, though a steed of slaanesh/disc of tzeentch is better at that job.
Which unit size is better for khornate knights, 5 or 6?

i would take 6, than if you get a flank charge on lets say a big monster you get 18 attacks. maybe you can even take halberds and the flaming banner. s6 flaming kills a lot of stuff.
and people don't expect chaos knights with lances.

What base size do I need to use for a Chaos Lord on Dragon? 50mm, I presume?
Yes, I am in the process of making a Chaos Dragon-Lord. And yes, I will be using him. Any tips?
Want Warmachine Rulebook, Khador, Lizardmen models, Lizardmen, Dark Elf and Beastmen Army Books, Grey Knights books or some awesome Banelegion models? Check out my trade thread!
you can use a 50mm one or a chariot base 50/100mm. the old dragons came with the 50mm but the highelf ones come on a chariot base. maybe if you have the new zombie dragon as a base to convert your dragon from you can put it on the freaking huge monster base that comes with that model.
as for advice on builds on chaos lords ill redirect you to this threat: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...0lord%20builds everything you need and want to know about chaos lords is in there.
