    Starting with large Vermin (lord).

Some things I'm doing towards a pestilens horde. For now a 1/6 of what im trying to head this army towards.

Here's my vermin lord so far, i wanted him much larger something like the size of what the fw avatar is to the eldar army.

but he came out tad larger than expected. The head being tone of the few actual model bit I've used till now is an Ogre standard. and the spikes are from a rat ogre set.. but arms and weapons will consist of other model parts.

i still need to finish off his legs but they're nearly done.

still to be done are: the rest of the legs, tail, arm, trophies, weapon and a necklace with bells and skulls.

also in progress at the moment are some plague monks beings made from clanrat models, as i really like the new plastics and the plague monk set looks very stocky imo.

    c&c welcome

edit: resized the pics, seemed a tad big to see the full pic on screen.

    cheers guys.

@Cragum, well I have no empire models to go by, but he is 2.5 times taller than an ogre bull if that helps , But I'll take a comparison pic next to a skaven clanrat and some other models on the next update.

quick update, more for scale purpose than anything else, worked over ribs which i did in oven clay and reworked them with gs for a better form. I will be doing this with serveal other areas, especially the chest. But a lot more work is needed, such as rags, trophies, bells etc.

the small model next to the vermin lord is one of the clanrat models which I have converted into a plague priest although he too needs some gs love.

Wow that is one large model, it will certainly be intimidating on the battlefield!

yh he is a big boy, luckily he fits perfectly on a large square base which was something i was a tad concerned about when i began sculpting it.

His Hooves and arms are now done too, but i wont be posting a pic till i attach his arms to t the torso and give him some shoulders. And the blade of his glaive is currently made of two bloodletter swords attached together, for that otherworldly weapon look.

Update, arms are attached but i still need to add the left hand with the weapon.
soon I'll be adding the tail which I'm kind of dreading due to how delicate it might be to make.

Nice vermin lord. Now all he needs is a tail and a weapon and he's ready to paint. Can't wait to see whats next.

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

    cheers guys,

@Larrylimerick, thanks though the hand probably good because it's one of the few things I haven't sculpted on it , it's form one of the fw plague ogryns, but find it very suitable for the plague look.

@Dino, cheers, though he needs much more than just the tail. Trophies, more spikes for the spine which are drying as i type, and some form of cloth covering his pelvic region. oh and bells, need some bells.

@Mr Ultra, he sure is, tallest miniature in my warhammer collection thus far.

@Anardakil. True, but he's going to take so many missiles due to it's ominous size i reckon.

work is moving slowly on the vermin lord as I'm trying to shape up a suitable sized glaive for the demon to wield, so far the bloodletter swords look way to small for him to hold, even two glued together. Though i seem to have a replacement but requires some sculpting work on it too.

Oh yah I didn't mean that, because the stuff you have sculpted is incredible, but I meant that it fit nicely with the rest of what you were doing.

@ halelel, your too nice, my flaw is that Unless the model has a Nurgle/disease/rotting focus I can't sculpt it, I would have loved to have doen a vermin lord in style to that of the art work, but large smooth muscles are a real drawback for my sculpting :/ thanks though

@ Larry Limerick, no yh i know you didn't , infact the texture foe the whoel model was focused that the hand s would fit in without standing out.

The spine is now done as well as some work in the leg areas but i wanto to complete some more (eg, left hand and the tail perhaps) weapon is also done, made from two ogre swords and a skaven spear, so i can get the curved glaive look.

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

    update.. again.

did his tail though I'm not all so thrilled nor sure how thats turned out.

his weapon, handle made from several plague monk staffs, and as mentioned several blade and luckily enough the plague monk box provides a bit which is near identical as to what the verminlord miniature gw makes has at teh end (some form of claw with a warpstone).

also I'm currently working on some rat ogres more in the style to the latest gw ones (screaming bell and IoB, my they are pretty), which surprisingly are easier to convert from the current rat ogres than i thought .

It's looking good, I think the weapon turned out well, and the tail looks all right, but I do think that something about it looks more reptilion than vermin to me, but it does look pretty good though.
