thanks larrylimerick, it is exactly what you said, the reptilian vise is that the first 2 cm attached to the verminlord were to wide and i think thats more of crocodile thing, where as rats are much more slender and unified all over (same circumference all round basicly, but I'm changing that once the gs is completely dry.

Vermin lord looks very cool. How soon till you paint this bad boy up?

have to admit kronos, you have dwarfed any vermin lord i have ever seen in my time. albeit that not being a lot but still...

the weapon looks great really looks nice and rustic, fits very well with the whole vermin theme. the tail is ace, i see where larry is coming from but i think that with the right paint job it will take it straight into the style that works to look verminy and gross!

whats next for him? and also what size base you putting him on?

He really looks fantastic, a tremendous amount better than the old model. Also The fact that isn't smooth muscled is better in my opinion a beast like that living underground would be dirty and pock marked bumpy and the like instead of being a gleaming oiled ripped bodybuilder rat.

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

    cheers for the comments guys,

@Dino,thanks, hopefully this week, really itching to get some painting on him done.

@Cragum, thank you. the same type base as other greater daemons use 50 mm i believe, the one thats a size larger than the ones rat ogres use, which i believe is the right one to use for vermin lords, and luckily he fits without going over.

@petsamd, i guess your right, and makes me feel better about him , then agin the image of a 6 ton oiled rat-humanoid is something rather distressing

    anywho update.

fixed the tail and wotk on cloth around the waist has begun, though there is much work on the cloth left, more leyers, sanding etc.

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

@Larrylimerick, yh the tail comes out better now when in contrast to the cloth which can hide some of the wider areas.

anywho.. as my vermin lord rests safely at home I'm continuing my skaven with a Moulder Clan led by throt himself, along with some random species whihc could only be found in hell pit of course.

now along with the pictures, first up Throt, now i really like the metal miniature, but i think he would stand out way to much in comparison to the new line of skaven models... so i made my own from several miniatures and some gs for sculpting. he's is still very wip with much much to do.. yes yes (sorry couldn't resist).

pictures have been highly brightened because the orignal was near to dark.

Now for some random beasts, I'm using these strange looking critters as doom-flayers, with heads going kindly towards my hellpit abomination, once I get round to making a suitable base to build upon. Handlers will also be made for them, goading them forward with some sharp pointy sticks.

Update on Throt, sculpted the cloth around his face, chest and back. and his eyes, his left warpstone eye won't really come out till I paint it I reckon.

you have had a great idea with the doom flayer thing, and great slucp of throt, i like a lot the vermin lord also, its a mess that i havent seen this plog earlier.

cause some warhounds like yours could look to cool.

Excellent. Your doom flayers remind me of something from the film 'the thing' - very hellpit.

@ekxw, thank you, I do quite like the warhounds, it's one of those simple conversions that just happened by messing about and sticking things where the head once was, simply because throts teeth are made form several warhound teeth stuck together.

@Nemesis_the_warlock, thanks , I have to say I haven't seen the film, but i may have to as it may strike some inspiration for other critters.

These are some seriously good looking models, Throt is especially cool. They all look very dark and sinister, you've got some great sculpting skills and imagination.

yes but it works perfectly, you will use the island of blood beastmaster weapon for throth?

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

Throt's looking really great, and same goes for the Verminlord, except the weapon... The shaft looks way too thin to me, like it'd snap as soon as the Verminlord took a swing at anything besides a wet paper bag...

the weapon on the VL looks too thin. looks like it would break with a weak wind. perhaps sculpt the shaft?

Re: Starting with large Vermin (lord).

    @wishing, thank you very much

@ekxw, thanks again, I will not however be using the Island of bloods pack master weapon as when I do get the set i want to keep it with it as I really like what gw did with the model. I will be kitbashing throts weapon and partially sculpting where necessary

@Unwanted and Lord Marcus, thank you for tip and yes i do see what you both mean, however as the vermin lord is at the moment back home and wont be returning for at least 2 months due to uni I will have to keep that note on memory (and well this log ). And as i will be sculpting it i think I'm going to go for a rusted pole look, much like the weapons of the corpse cart and skeleton sets where holes indicate rust and ageing on the weapon, and that should hopefully tie in the model together, and again thank you for the tip.

Now I said I was going to post a few updated pics of the living doom flayers, warhound conversions) but due to and over load of sculpting and other uni work I'm going to put this on hold till tomorrow. So keep an eye out. Throt should also be finished soon as soon as i finish his whip, sword, and Thing catcher.
