Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

    Our newest tabletop adventure-
a random pickup game with the davion heavy guards facing off agains tthe lyran 10th

The davion player was running a few proxies but his overal force was-

    .heavy gauss marauder MK II
    .gauss victor
    .RAC 5 argus
    .pheonix hawk

i decided to swith things out a bit and went with
    .heavy gauss goliath
    .improved heavy gauss (4t)barghest
    .challenger X MBT
    .typhoon (RAC) urban assault vehicle.

Ihe table was amix of rolling hills and city outskirt.
i set up to funnel my opponant into the city where i could be more effective and he split his force to oblidge me.
the hawk worked to circle around to my left but he and the victor were so far out behind interviening terrain i ignored them and went full on after the argus and the marauder. the argus took the brunt of my assault. loosing a torso and his engines along with it.

the marauder got into a duel with my tanks and lost his gauss and an entire side of the mech.

my quads turned about to engage the hawk and the victor. this allows the hawk to get behind the goliath and open up rear torso armor, but fortunately no crits were rolled. i proceeded to take off both the victors arms and put the hawk donw on the ground with a single leg.

My return damage saw me loose most of a torso on the barshest along with the medium laser. both tanks got hit hard, but it was mostly armor damage. the typhoon locked up both his RAC and the challengers crew got stunned.

In the end with most of his firepower nuetered and only 2 mechs standing, the davions surrendered the field.

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

Returning to battletech after a bit of a break i got in a challenge game today against a goliath scorpions player. since his galaxy strictly adheres to clan honor code(zellbrigan) i decided not to use my hells horse since Iota galaxy never follows it. instead i subbed in a thmed blood spirits upsilon galaxy force
    .blood asp E
    .blood kite 2
.blood reaper B(i know it is a wolf mech but the name got me)
    .crimson langur
    .blood drinker protomechs

His force was mostly clan invasion era-
    .daishi
    .thor
    .cauldron born
    .glass spider
    .ryoken

Even with my initiative penalties i still managed to win the frist couple turns with the exchange of fire slightly in my favor. on the third turn i rolled really bad and he got to use his over-run special ability which put some serious damage on me, but he tended to spread it around. this move did allow me howwever to get close with ATMs. HE-ATMs put out some hurt.

A lucky crit on his daishi blew out his AMS ammo and a further head hit put his pilot to sleep. the kite managed to pummel a leg on the cauldron tearing it off and forcing the mech to withdraw.

With 2 mechs effectively down and only armor damage and a single dead protomech to show for it he conceded defeat.

Those were hex bug playsets being used for indoor battles for the game infinity.

Today in Geneva (Switzerland) I found a shop containing literally hundreds of old 80's / early 90's Battletech blisters. I have no idea of the price (I was too busy grabbing the old late 80's Space Marine blisters), but if anybody wants some more info I will going back in a couple of weeks - with a note pad and possibly a camera - feel free to PM me.

Dude buy up all the "unseen" mechs (the robotech/macross era stuff) like the marausder, rifleman, warhammer, archer etc.. and put them up on ebay or something. people still want those old unseens.

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

Man was this weekends game a bloodbath

Both myself and my opponant were tying out our new toys. we each had to do a bit of proxy work but we were both doing clan specific forces.

For me it was my gells horse-
    .hellstar A
    .thunder stallion B
    .enyo strike tank(2)
    .garuda heavy VTOL(2)
    .savartfala protomech(5)

    My opponant was running-
    .dire wolf(daishi)
    .night wolf
    .timber wolf(madcat)
    .tundra wolf
    .blood reaper

I finished this report once already and IE locked up on me and i lost everything so i will be saving and editing as i go through this so check back if it is not finished.

First off i will say this game could have gone either way and lasted alot longer than either of us expected considering we were both running assault stars. The damage to pilots and equipment was heavy and the number of pilot hits i recieved was well above average, my hellstar took 4 hits to the face which put him asleep causing his mech to fall and make another pilot hit. he wol back up finally and got in to the fight again but i was in a similar situation with the protomechs with 3 running around with 5 pilot hits and 3 on a fourth.

The MVP for piot checks went to protomech #4 who made all 5 consecutive checks including number 5

Setup wise he went heavy across the center while i focused left, hoping to let my tanks flank him from the right.

He managed to score the first kill with a rotor destroyed crit on a garuda. . killed a protomech outright and got a commander hit on tank #2 i ficused on the tundra wolf and took it out of the game. most of his fire the next round was on the protomechs and the hellstar. it allowed one of my tanks to manuever up behind the timberwolf and do crit damage from teh rear....unfortunately was close and it was ammo so the blowback from the CASE destroyed the tank whike it crippled the mech. he shortly there after returned the favor by getting behind the other tank with his blood reaper destroying both mech and tank in the ensuing explosion.

MY greatest loss and turning point in the game came after the hellstar fell asleep. his night wolf switched targets to the completely undamaged thunder stallion and put a heavy large laser through the cockpit. killing my star commander. the loss of the undamaged assault mech hurt but i fought on. the hellstar woke back up, and while badkly damaged, used his remaining weapons to finish the nightwolf in a MAD shootout. the garuda finished off the timberwolf. it left me with 3 severly damaged protomechs and a garuda facing off against his dire wolf, albeit badly damaged it was still an assault mech. . it managed to take down all the remaining protos and finsh off the garuda through cumulative rotor hits. giving his wolf forces a hard won victory-

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

Back in misery.....this week i got in a game against the kell hounds mercenaries. since we were playing inner sphere i broke out my house specific 2nd swords of light fast heavy C3 lance.

    The hounds-
    .gunslinger
    .tempest
    .wolverine
    .arctic fox

    The sword-
    .shugenja(C3 master)
    .daikyu
    .ninja-to
    .grand dragon

I set up a hilly table with a river and some urnban areas.

the hounds tried to sucker me in close by using the urban areas so the gunslinger to block my C3 network with his ECM jamming. we ended up dancing around the terrain quite a bit doing fits of damage and lots of no-good to interviening terrain.

I killed the fox with an engine kill torso destroyed and then set my sights on the tempest. i sacrificed the ninja-to to return fire but i cconsidered it a fair exchange.

The daikyu and grand dragon managed to circle around behind him while his gunslinger traded shots with my shugenja.

a couple head hit/pilot shock points later and the gunslinger was down and out. pretty much ending the game because teh wolverine wasn't going to be able to hold off 3 heavy mechs long enough for the gunslinger to wake up, get back up and into the fight.

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

As it so happens got a little match in today against my capellan foes-

    His force-

    .Maruader

    .marauder (stealth)

    .rifleman (lao PPC/laser boat)

    .men shen

    My force

    .goliath(heavy gauss)

    .thunderbolt 10SE

    .barghest 4T(improved heavy gauss)

    .blackjack BJ3

The table was a mix of city, hilly terrain and rivers,

We set up and i chose to pair off my lance in teams of 2, fortunately he put the menshen far off to the left so its comparatively short ranged large pulse lasers stayed out fo the game for the first few turns.

I managed to draw first blood on the rifleman tearing off a PPC

I ended up just taking pot-shots at the men shen or just flat out ignoring it while i chased down his rifleman and killed it. on the other side of the table my jack and goliath were danceing with the marauders. it took several turns but i managed to drop his command marauder in a big shootout which also saw me loose the goliath to an internal gauss rifle explosion.

The men shen tried to run and was chased down by the barghest. i missed with my lasers but i put a heavy gauss slug in his center torso rear, damaging his gyro which forced him to fall. he attempted to stand back up on the following turn, failed and fell on his already damaged rear armor coring out his mech.

In the end he used his last marauder to try and sucker me into the maze of buildings. is still managed to tear off a torso and an arm. then the thunderbolt finished him by jumping to a roodtop and legging him with a single PPC hit.

Victory for me with only a single assault mech going down on my side. with him being forced fromt he field fo battle.

Very interesting log Took the time to read it through from start to finish. Really inspirational stuff ^_^

Have to ask though, you mention some of the buildings are old epic buildings but what about the rest? What materials have you made them out of? Some look suspicously like the ones found inside the video games

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

Been a while since i got a batrep up, i remembered to take some pics of a little pick up battle tonight

    Davion heavy guard tank detachment-
    X3 ajax's(one of each)
and a scout manteufell tank. all with C3

I was a bit under the weight of metal against me but i threw down my 2nd swords of light assault lance-

    .warhammer 8D
    .shugenja
    .awsome 9M
    .sunder-OD-DR

The dice we not in his favor tonight. i managed to isolate and destroy one tank at a time and he was doing far less damage to me than this lance usually does. he also failed most of his confirm crit rolls. i fared a bit better except the factr my warhammer and awsome couldn't seem to keep thier feet under them.

I scored first blood by taking down his point tank(manteufel), he managed a cumulative number of hits on the awsomes head and managed to kill the pilot.

As i slowly gto savaged while still managing to wear him down he got obsessed with killing the warhammer. i finally took out his last tank and the warhammer lived, although a bit worse for ware-

Interestingly the shugenja avoided taking any damage the entire game since he apparently seemed less dangerous than trhe rest of the force.

Re: classic battletech campaign log-picture heavy

Well we have gone and started another campaign that is part RPG and part TT wargame. we all rolled up characters and were given the option of any light mech up to 35 tons to use.

    Our force-

    .wolfhound
    .uller
    .talon
    .tarantula

the era is post jihad. In this mission we are a scouting/screening force for aq convoy moving forward to set up a FOB and weypoint 1 and additional mission objectives at points 2-4. after a hard push we managed to make our way through the screeing defensive forces and take over the enemy base. we had barely enough time for minor repairs before we had to engage a returning lace of mechs assigned to the base. some of our mechs had taken minor internal damage so we had to jump into some captured units..

After a brief one sided firefight the retrning units were swiftly dealt with. they were pretty heavily damaged and gun camera footage indicated they had been fighting a well equiped enemy force. salvage and repair operations were completed and we were back in our original rides.

We were then sent out to find the units that had hit the defenders earlier. as out luck would have it, a rogue blakist experimental assault mech. it tore us up pretty badly,

the talon took engine kill damage, the uller was legged, the wolfhound retreated after taking massive internal damage. and my stalking spider while hurt managed to stay behind the enemy mech and nip at it heels. our reserve forces from the FOB engaged the enemy mech and managed to crit ammo and blow it apart.

Unfortunately my tarantula was a but to close to the explosion and was destroyed. fortunately i managed to eject.
