Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

With Space Hulk approaching a year old now, I've been finding it hard to even find somebody to discuss Space Hulk least of all play it.

Upon raising the subject in my local GW (Merry Hill) I was told that Specialist Games are not allowed in store so I can't even take it there on a game night. Why this is so is a different issue.

So, are you still getting your Space Hulk fix or not? And what can you do to solve the drought?

Specialist games are allowed in GW stores... they get played a lot in my local GW. Aeronautica Imperialis, Necromunda, Mordenheim, the occasional blood bowl...

Space hulk is only played if I convince some people to play me, however. Mind, I have my 3D board, and that does make it easier to convince people.

Well in my local GW Belfast, they do not let you play specialist games and I'm pretty sure it's not the only store.

Apparently it's because you can't buy the specialist games stuff in store and if a random passer by went in and saw it and wanted it, they can't just part with loads of cash there and then on impulse buying. Also space hulk is discontinued so that could have something extra to do with it. I'm disappointed because the first thing I ever bought from GW was Space Hulk and it got me into the hobby.

The official GW stance is they are not allowed in stores, and any manager allowing them could get into bother.

So, I'd keep the name of your local GW quiet

Space Hulk will never die! But yes naturally you need some friends to play it with, as with all board games.

GW not allowing Space Hulk in the stores is ******** retarded. Not that I play in my local GW, but if I wanted to play Space Hulk and they said I couldn't I'd punch whoever said it and tip over one of the display cabinets. Find a local gaming club and play what you want and let the GW stores choke on their own redundancy.

Well, i'm actually quite scared that it's been a year already. I'm also somewhat embarressed that i've still got 9 Termies to go!

Once complete i'll be hassling most of North London for some games, though not in a store it would seem. That is particuarly poor, assuming that it's GW's policy.

Just another reason to stay out of the stores then!

Yeah I still have 90 3rd ed Genestealers to paint plus two Broodlords, oh and 3 C.A.T.s and 3 Grails. And 60 Door bases. Makes me depressed when I think about it. Baby steps is the way forwards I think - just a few models at a time!

I usually play when I visit a friends for a gaming weekend, usually have a loooong session on the evening til about 4am. Good times.

Man, I wish I knew someone who loved hulk as much as me nearby. I play first edition (as that is where I started) but no one seems to play any more after the initial excitement. Just fantasy.

Would it be worth while having a 'find players' thread, stating where you are (roughly) so that people could find and message each other to play?

If I had a bigger table I'd play it more, I've found I struggle for space playing anything other than the first mission... Although if things go according to plan I'll be moving somewhere bigger soon.

However WilsonGrahams, I'm only in Wolverhampton, so if we can find a decent location I'm not a million miles away if you want a game?

I manage to play space hulk every now and again, fortunatly for me my girlfriend enjoys playing; that being said I for one can't get enough space hulk in, would love to be able to play more frequently than I do.

I've been putting off getting it all painted up though, I wanted to make sure i can sit and do it all justice so I've made a vow to wait until xmas, get stocked up on the paints I need (just about everything at the moment!) and then take them to task

Interesting seeing peoples locations, I myself am in Stoke so not a million miles away from all you other midlands folk. I sense a hulk weekend brewing!

Well I'm in Dudley Port so it does look like we're all local. I have a gaming table due to be set up in my garage that will fit any soace hulk mission on, which would be a bonus if that was an option that appealed to anybody?

A Space Hulk Weekend would be great. I'm sure that between us all we have at least a couple fully painted sets to use that would make the time playing it more interesting.

Well that puts me about an hour ish away from you wilsongrahams, so that's no distance at all really. I'd be up for some Garage Hulk

I only have space available at random intervals unfortunatly, but when I know there will be free space I'd be happy to host if people were available, and there's room for all the missions as well except mission 2 (it's do'able, it just hangs over the edges a bit!) and I haven't tried 12 either but that doesn't look as 'spread out' as 2, even though there is more than one map.
