Re: Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

Mission 12 is smaller than most missions in actual space needed and time to play if you ask me.

I'm able to travel, and host after fetching my table legs!

My Mrs wants to know if I should give her spending money if she drives me about for my Hulk Weekend, what do you reckon? Spending money and lift, or train? (I can't pinch the car).

Looks like this really could happen in the near future.

Re: Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

I wont be able to host any time in the near future but traveling is no problem for me, so driving somewhere is easiest for me.

Well if the Mrs is good enough to drive you about then you've got to keep her happy. Always keep the Mrs happy!

It sounds like everyone is enthusiastic about the game, it would be great to get a gaming group together to keep it alive.

I may have space... But no table - things are abit up in the air at the moment in that regard though (trying to sell up and move)
Can easily travel though with no problems.
Although my version o fHulk is nowhere near painted...

Re: Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

With preparation and a weekend booked off work I should be able to host, and that looks like the better option for you guys anyway. My table once the two parts are joined together is 8 x 4 foot so a decent size for space hulk missions.

I have my Terminators all painted up nicely but not the genestealers yet. The Broodlord is behind a few elves on my painting backlog so should be done soon and I have some (roughly) painted genestealers from the 2nd ed box so at least there is a fully painted force.

Painted models aren't so much of a necessity though, more a bonus, as long as some good games can be played. I've always been passionate about space hulk and have been very enthusiastic about getting games in.

Well, hey. Count me in...... I have Hulk edition one with deathwing and genestealer, all purestrains are painted as are about twenty termies (BA). Have car, will travel.

Just in the process of moving out of my flat into a house but that should all be sorted soon. Work permitting.

Looks like we may be able to have more than one game going on at the same time, space permiting. That would be better for the atmosphere.

Just as an interest, what ages are you all? With cars etc I assume over 18? Mainly, anyone under 18?

Re: Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

Painted models are always a bonus and the hulk contents is the next project I have on the list. Still, for now getting some games in would be great, and probably make me even more motivated to get it painted up.

Multiple games would make for a good atmosphere if there's room for that. Will we need a second set bringing?

As for age, I'm 23 and have been into the hobby for as long as I can remember, must be a good 15 years-ish... now that I look at that written down I realise that's the majority of my life. Curse you Games Workshop!

Phew. This is a major issue really. Or is it? I was wondering how to bring it up.

I am 37. Which is not old.

Started playing when I was 14 but had a big break to pursue work and life and stuff but I grew out of that nonsense and started gaming again about four years ago. Fear not I am rubbish at games and just love a laugh .

Well, it was something I was wondering about too, and I'm 27. Seems we're all mature enough for things not to be an issue such as refreshments et al, as well as no teenage tantrums!

My first GW experience was buying the 2nd ed space hulk, so 15 years for all of us seems to be the average.

I have three 3rd ed Space Hulk sets but only marines for one set so would need more models bringing. The bulky parts are the tiles anyway.

Do you also punch the staff at McDonalds out when they don't let you eat KFC in their stores?

Not the same I know, but but you can't buy KFC at McDonalds either so if someone walked in and was like " That looks delicious! I'm getting some!", the staff at McDonalds would be pretty pissed.

It makes me wish actual specialist games stores existed.

Actually it's more like buying something from McDonalds and then McDonalds immediately telling you to get the hell out. Playing a GW product in a GW store shouldn't really be an issue.

Hehe, I did wonder about ages myself but it's good to see people have got a similar amount of experience and more importantly seem to be on the same wave-length. I've always been rather laid back when it comes to gaming, just like to have a laugh win or lose and nothing spoils that more than someone throwing the bottle out of the pram!

I agree - they allow you to use out of date miniatures, so out of date games shouldn't be a problem really. I keep the peace and abide by their rules though - it's not the staff members fault what GW policy is.

Like you say, age isn't as important, but age tends to bring a different attitude, and the younger players - some below 12, just don't get that playing a game is as much fun as winning.

My Space Hulk models are based as for 40k too even though I don't play 40k, but I haven't had any real issues either, and I just wanted to base them up a little neater.

Re: Is Space Hulk still being played in your area?

How would people be fixed for planning a Hulk Weekend day in say January? This gives time to prepare and arrange when exactly, and shouldn't interfere with all the xmas shopping that needs to be done.

Only, be warned, my garage is cold, but with people in it should warm up quick enough.

It also needs a sweep, and clearing of spiders, something I think I'll be doing alone seeing as the last one to be seen yesterday was a good 5 inches legspan!

    Just name the weekend!

But bear in mind I am at the 40k throne of skulls thing on the 22nd and 23rd so not that weekend! If I am settled in my new house by then I am sure something could be sorted to avoid cold garages!

Okay, It'll likely be the last weekend for now then - the 29th? Any other thoughts on when is good. The middle of the month isn't possible for me becasue I can't take the time off work then.

I should be able to get or borrow a heater for the garage just to take the chill off til it's warmed up.

    Sounds good. Just put it in my diary... Let's wait to see if anybody else is interested then start pm'ing each other with details;

Could always meet up in town for a pint before christmas anyway, just to say hi! If the German market is on, greasy sausage and a pint... Haha.

Sounds good to me. I'm new to the area and haven't actually met that many people yet, and I still have to celebrate the birth of my children properly!

Welcome to the Midlands!!!! Congratulations all round....

Just give me a shout when you fancy a game. I am a freelancer so when it all goes quiet in December I am free. Especially as my wife works all the way up until Christmas. Shame. Hahaha.

29th sounds good to me too, I should even have some marines painted up by then If I could find the time I'd be up for meeting up in december, I mean, who can resist the lure of a german market!

And indeed welcome to the Midlands, a lovely place without any of those weird Northerners and Southerners
