I'm wondering if there is some sort of co-relation between Mantic's Kings of War range, and the Beasts of War guys. Beyond the, we send you stuff to review one.

It's the 'of War' that got me thinking along these lines, and the mention of the upcoming announcement for BoW via the Mantic Blog.

Maybe, just maybe, I could be on to something, or it is just wild stabs in the dark, but in a hierarchical order, a beast would be below a king, suggesting subservient to, and there is also the connotation of beast of burden, which leads me to think that perhaps, BoW are due to do a lot of labour for Mantic.

What if their new 8th edition WHFB table ISN'T for playing WHFB on? Maybe it is just some prep work for the Kings of War game playtesting, what if the BoW site is just a cunning plan to gather a playtesting group?

As I said though, it's all rampant speculation.

Maybe they'll do a Gears of War range! Or one based on Age of War! Maybe they'll hold a Tug of War event!



I think you're looking a wee bit too much into it, but yes, I'm looking forward to the supposed collaboration we're going to see between Mantic and BoW.

Then again, maybe you're right and we're going to see models of the BoW guys, one to lead each of the 4 Mantic armies (once Orcs come out).

But then, they review everything like that. Just ask Wargames Factory. All the big boys love BoW because they are so...enthusiastic.

Beasts of War have been going a lot longer than Mantic Games. They review nearly everything. I'd say BoW's mainstay is usually 40k amongst others.
If you'd want anybody to playtest/review a game system it would be BoW as they really know their Ausf from their Kugelblitz. Tanks for understanding.
The "of War" is shear coincidence/shared good taste in names.
I thought I was looking into it too much by thinking the upcomming announcement about "Beasts of War" could have been a play on words. Mantic may have some wild feral critter "of War."
It could have nothing at all to do with the BoW guys. Then again it may very well do.

Bah, I had my own theory about what might be happening a few nights ago that seemed logical at the time but I've forgotten it..

My current guess would be that the upcoming stuff with BoW is to do with the upcoming Mantic ruleset. And I don't think the two companies are secretly one.

That's my suspicion too. That BoW will get to do the rules unveiling in conjunction with Mantic.

But I wouldn't bet on it. Mantic has pulled too many surprises out of their sleeves in the past.

And that is basically what makes this company awesome. All we would get from certain other companies is a deranged lunatic saying "where did you hear that? I didn't hear that. Its not TRUE!"
