i just wanted to tell you that i ain't dead (yet), it's just a "little bit" busy at work and then i met a very charming orthodontist which occupies the rest of my free time...but i'll try to post some progress on the griffons soon , probably on the weekend.

Whilest the washes dry on the griffons, something else is stirring in the desert sands...
this ist my first and fast take on the regular Necron warrior: slightly straightend the pose, debulked the muzzle and replaced the glowing rod with a normal plastic one.
I plan to build as many of them in similar poses as possible to enforce the robotic behavior of the normal warriors.

Haha, thanks. I always thought the necron gauss-gun to top-heavy for those poor, skelleton-thin necron warriors. Now it looks like a gun you can reasonably field.
2 out of 3 griffons are painted and already crewed, i just have to aquire 3 heavy bolters since the forgeworld package only comes with heavy flamers... :-/
And to top things off, my cameras batteries died and i have no spares in the house...meh...

Nice necron and all, but how's the orthodontist that takes all your spare time?

Haha, i hope he has a better hit-to-miss-ratio onboard of the griffons then before when he still had to walk...
The ruin is from the exellent "ruined hamlet" set from warlord games. It includes enough parts to build three ruined houses, but with a little creativity you can squeeze some more out of it. I plan to build a little ruined oasis complete with walls, houses, a well, some palms and cactus.

And i found and ordered these:

So, today, i small life-sign from me: Two Platoon Commanders, for i plan to extend my infantry after that wave of armour.
    And a small fluff-snipett:
Leutnants in the armies of Çorum are often referred to by their men as 'effendi', which means 'literate man'. On one hand it's a sign of how under-educated the soldiers of the padisha often are, and on the other how revered the (holy) scripture and the men who can read it are on Çorum. It also shows the wisdom of the adeptus mechanicus to construct the holy weapons of mankind in their sacred simplicity so that even the man who can not read the word of the emperor can still smite his enemies!

Re: The glorious 4th Çorum Alay - Ottomans in Space

    Good morning everbody!
Back from Istanbul two small pcitures and a short review from the Askeri Müze in Instanbul:

The museum is very oldschool...if you don't take an audio guide, be prepared to stare on lots of lots of weapons, armour and guns without any explanation except where it's from and in which century it has been made. On the other hand, there are some bigger displays where they tried to recreate a feeling of how the battles looked like, but it's done with great panel-paintings in verrrrry bright colours and some dressed up display dummies thrown in (always the same figure, but with a different moustache). Also the museum is full of nationalist pathos, every people who has sat on horseback and built an empire or won an important battle fits in the looooong tree of turkish genealogy. If you are an armenian...don't go into the museum except if you want to get a stroke in the room "on the armenian question"...
But if you overcome theses shortcomings, you get rewarded with a stunnig collection of curious, rare and beautiful weapons and armours from all over the world, and you get to see mustafa kemal ataturks old schoolroom.
and to top it off: Everyday from 15:00 to 16:30 the mehter band plays old turkish military marches in the courtyard or auditorium of the museum, but don't make the mistake to seat yourself to close to the speakers, these guys don't mess around regarding volume... ;D

And on a more or less unrelated sideline, what do you think about some catachans with some fancy ANZAC-hats?

Re: The glorious 4th Çorum Alay - Ottomans in Space

Haha, no, not only for inspiration. Starting some years ago i have a weak spot for eastern and south-eastern europe and try to amass as much historical knowleged as possible. Since then i wanted to take the trip to Istanbul.

Some fluff, what do you guys think about it?

    Carver's Coven:
Carver's Coven has been a prosperous mining world since mankind has first reached the Bellheim Subsector and has provided imporant exports of ore, grems and gold to the Imperium, especially to Fleist, the bloated industrial heart of the subsector. But everything changed with the thousand-year long 'heretic wars' that devastated the subsector in it's lenght and width. The worlds hit by the fighting included besides Celestis prime, Hun, Antilles, Lacrak, Cholista and several others also Carver's Coven. The small population was overrun by waves of heretical soldiers from Cerot Tertius. The imperial armies where thinly stretched and were in no position to retake the planet in a forseeable future so the high command authorised a prolonged naval bombardment by the retreating fleet assets to deny the emeny his price. The ozone layer of the planet, already worn thin by millenia of industrial explotation was almost completly destroyed by the bombardment and when loyalist forces finally retook Carver's Coven after fourhundred years they found nothing but a sunburnt wasteland.
Not willing to let the mineral rich soils of the planet go to waste the planet was forcefully repopulated as a prisonworld. The first prisoners being from Cerot tertius and other retaken heretical worlds. Since then their ranks have been swelled by criminals, insane, minor heretics and other scum from all over the subsector, but especially from Fleist. They all toil away in great day-mines under the relentless sun of the planets sun.
Over the millenia a certain hierachy has established itself in the planets "society". On top there are the organized gangs of criminals who rule the other inmates with iron fists and have been handed over a certain degree of liberty from the thinly streched overseers. They keep the other inmates in check, supress rebellions, organize work and therefore get the first pick on supplies and food. Whenever there is a need for an unscrupulous and expendable cannonfodder the authorities raise regiments out of the criminal clans and cartels and ship them off-world to kill, burn, plunder and die in the neverending wars of mankind. The regiments are kept in line by a great number of Commissars, the promise of plunder and freedom if they survive long enough (which only a handfull of former inmates have achieved up today) and the threat of summary execution of all their gang members and families back home if they should desert their sacred duty to lay down their sinfull lifes in HIS imperial and holy campaings.

Re: The glorious 4th Çorum Alay - Ottomans in Space

I dunno, they brew a pretty strong coffee down there.
The hats are the ANAC-Heads from Maxmini.eu

    More fluff:

    Regiments from Carver's Coven:

Regiments raised on Carver's Coven usually consist from members of related or allied clans and gangs to keep the internal strife to an acceptable minimum. They are armed with whatever the meagre arsenals of the prisonplanet can provide, which is not much, as the authorities fear to store great amounts of wargear which could fall into the wrong hands in case of an uprising. This leads to an very uneven distribution of the few flak-jackets and steel-helmets and heavy weapons and many of the soldiers keep on wearing the iconical fungus-felt hat that most inmates wear to protect themselves against the sun. A custom that has lead to the widespread nickname of "Hats and shirts" for armed forces from Carver's Coven, often deliberally misquotet as "Heretics and *****" . The few steel-helmets that one finds are of inferior desing to the widespread cadian or celestis pattern but still prized possions among the soldiers.
Tattoos are widespread and often show the clans spirit animal/coat of arms and sometimes in a show of faith saints and angles, for all their crimes in the past, the clans stress the point that they are faithfull adherents to the imperial faith and therefore superior to the heretics and ignorants who form the dreggs of whatever passes on Carver's Coven as society.
Outsiders often wonder about the swelling muscles and squat physiognomy of the combatants, these are the result of hard work, "natural" selection and the widespread abuse of cooked-up stem-roids and the criminals take extreme pride in their thuggish looks and strenght.

The gang-lord beyond the stars: Nobody knows when und where it started, but there are rumors that one of the regiments raised on the planet not only won their freedom, but for their faithfull service where granted the lordship over a conquered planet. And that one day they will return to free the faithfull and take them to their dominion. After some centuries people begun to question this belief, for no savior had appeared. This lead to an episode of battles and strife which left three main stands of religious belief: 1. The Sinners: They believe that salvation has yet not come, because they aren't devote enough and have not yet redeem themselves enough to be saved. 2. The Prophets: They believe that the events have not taken place yet but are a prophecy of things to come and the future gang-lord beyond the stars has not been found/born yet. 3. The Naysayers: To these the stories of the gang-lord beyond the stars are nothing but lies to keep the prisoners in line and to better exploit them. Salvation will only come in the afterlife at the side of the emperor.

    The 63rd Auxiliary 'Ingatius' Irregulars'
Formed at the end of M40 to battle the renewed wave of heretical shism in the wake of the 13th black crusade the 63rd Auxiliary consits mostly of members of the jackal, spider and sun clans. They are more or less feverent adherents of the Prophets and therefore have shown an exceptional record in battling everything they are thrown at. Casualtiy-rates therefore are high and the regiment has molten down to a hardend core of insane and bloodthirsty psychopaths that no one touches without gloves and a very long stick. Trophytaking is rife among the soldiers and rumor has it that if they don't get them killed first they are earmarked for summary execution. But at the moment high command seems content with dropping them out of navy-valkyries on high altitude as shock-troopers whereever their ruthless skills and devotion are needed.
