Slavers of Zharr-Naggrund ToFP Conversion Log

For my chaos warriors army, I'm doing something different , and having them lead by a chaos lord, and the rest of the characters been the good ol pointy hats, the chaos dwarfs. The theme of the army, is going to be an undivided force , with several chaos ogres, chaos giant, and other "slave" creatures in the list.but without further ado ,here's my exalted champion on war bull , counts as either a chariot or monstrous mount, haven't decided yet.

And the necessary scale-shot,please not it wont based on this over the top base ,and will just be put on a slated standard base.

sorry for the rubbish pica, will take some higher quality ones when i get some more time, so expect alot of conversions and sculpting work in this log.

    it's a sculpt from Scibors moscals(chaos dwarfs) range,heres a link.

    http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=936

it's quite pricey but has amazing detail on it, its going to be a shame to cut the wing socket/stems off to make it just like a big bull. Also going to be sculpting a few bits on it and filing of the 7 pointed stars that are on him and add some proper chaos marks, was going to take the head off and put a chaos chosen helmet on , but really am indecisive about what to do :/

Re: Slavers of Zharr-Naggrund ToFP Conversion Log

Got some sculpting done on my general ,a count as chaos lord on daemonic mount, took a great deal to take the wing stems off to keep it as a bull, and not a flying one.

Quite abit of clean up and work still to do on the model, and the weapon , currently has a stand in flail,im thinking about using the hammer from the Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount,as it seems to be the only hammer that would be fitting for such a lord, but i don't know if i could justify spending £16~ for that piece, also considering head swapping for the lord's head aswell.

so if anyone has them bits shoot me a pm, or if you just want the horse and rider i'l see what we can come to ! , right well onto pictures.

resculpting a larger cloak, to hide some unsightly work fromremoving the wing stems.

I'm considering sculpting over most of the diesease/chains/cuts in the flesh to make it more consistant, but as he is a chaos dwarf is it fitting? whats your opinions?

Ordered yesterday was a chaos battalion and another box of chaos warriors, and also finished priming up a unit of 10 of the old 6th edition knights (love them models) and also starting to sculpt/convert a few chosen models based on the lovely chosen of the raven host.

edit: sorry for the inregular image sizes, photobucket seems to have issue with resizing some and not others

The Lord on the Taurus is looking great! Personally, I like the rotten parts on the bull, I imagine them more as cracks/wounds where the molten core of the daemon is exposed rather than open sores. I prefer the original head on the dwarf, but it may fit into your overall scheme better to switch them out.
I'm excited to see where you take this, your project is one of the most interesting in the TOFP and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
That Chaos Lord looks nice, I really dig the subtle red highlights on the armor.
You have convinced me to save up for that Scibor mini, it looks awesome up close! Keep up the good work.

Re: Slavers of Zharr-Naggrund ToFP Conversion Log

thanks for the comment !,i was looking over the model again at the cracks and think i will keep them as it seems more chaos-y than just riding a normal bull.

The colour scheme is going to be like the studio's undivided theme (so i can use any mark). The force it's self is going to be a small contingent of chaos warriors than have joined with the chaos dwarves, so their be a unit of chaos dwarves eventually and other slave types such as ogre leadbelchers, hobgoblin wolf riders (marauder horsemen) and of course a big daddy giant.
Also a couple of units that follow tzeentch.

So far is a list i have planned.

Chaos lord (archaon on foot model)

Exalted champion on daemonic mount/chariot (scibor's moscal general)

    Chaos Sorcerer (scibor's moscal sorcerer)

    2x units of chaos warriors

    1x marauders with h/w + shields.

    1x unit of 10 knights

1x unit of slave dogs (warhounds)

1x unit of chaos ogres (ironguts with chaos armour sculpted on)

1x unit of ogre leadbelchers (added chains and chaos dwarf "pointer")

1x giant (the giant model with armour sculpted on

    1x hellcannon

1x unit of chosen tzeentch warriors (sculpted using chaos knight models, this is going to be the toughy unit )

and a ushabti converted for this badman.

depending on how carried away i get with this, it may end up with 2 seperate armies, chaos warriors and chaos dwarves.

Got around to doing more sculpting working on the arm/hammer and cloak.Has a temporary dwarf shield to see if it fits, will probably have the chaos star freehanded on.

the temporary shield, might jsut replace with a knights shield :/

possible hammer, just needs filling down , might also be replaced by something from the knights sprue :/

Going to start work on my test model,a chaos knight, as my order from maelstrom hasnt been dispatched yet

Re: Slavers of Zharr-Naggrund ToFP Conversion Log

Unfortunatly my order wont be shipped out till the end of the week :/ so cannot finish my general's mount with all sorts of chaos gubbinz. So went searching for somethings to paint and came across my box of kreig stuff,it's not fantasy, but shows what type of painting to expect from this log..

theres tons of paint on them , so tried the dettol strip method, for which actually works, but just turns the resin slighty pinky,I just had to be extremely carefull not to brush to hard.

My new scheme is easier to paint than my last one, as relies on just foundation paint, wash, highlight. For every colour and the metalics.

Re: Slavers of Zharr-Naggrund ToFP Conversion Log

After a very very dry spell, waiting on stuff to arrive, i had a few packages over the week

-Chaos warriors battalion and Chaos Warriors Box Set.
-Flow Enhancer for Painting (love the stuff !)
-Winsor & Newton Series 7 Brushes , can't recommend them enough!

and I also won an auction for a bitz pack/parts, which had the hammer i needed !, so armed with these new pieces i got to work on general and putting some warriors + hounds together.

Still needs a few bits and pieces, but i think the chaos knight helm, really add's to it , to make him more "chaos warriorsy" than the moscal original.

Love the dwarf general. Really is a beautiful sculpt! The helmut did look a little too big for the body, but having a second look at it, that's mainly due to the skull sitting on top of it. Love the warhammer! I can't wait to see this painted!!!!!! hurry up and paint it!

    Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the kind words !

I think it may be the camera angles, but the helmet is about the same size as the original head.I'm probably going to be painting a unit of warriors before my general but it depends in the mood, painting 2 characters in a row for tofp might be pushing it :P.

I've got a pile of marauders looking for paint

Did a test warrior today, in the typical chaos undivided scheme.

    Fairly happy with it .

I have been following your TOFP updates and I love what your showing us! I'f you ever feel like typing I would love to know more about your marauders and the steps/colors used. Also MOAR pics! So far your color choices are the only ones I want to use to paint my army. (I have been unable to decide on what faction but it's gonna be undivided now.)

I sure can, I've 5 to paint by tonite, so i'm going to jot it down then post it up

I chose undivided , because when writing army lists, i can say they are any marked, rather than having to buy lots of units and converting and that chaos dwarves are more likely to team up with them.

Okay Newish post from me, if you've been following my tofp posts, ive completed, one Archaon on foot,10 marauders,10 warhounds and a sorceror.

    Here's pics.

Ive also been working on a chaos giant, still waiting on the chains to make the second weapon, also working on getting putty in place to create a chaos warrior style helmet on him.

Ive also had a play about with my unused knights sprues ive got and a spare warrior legs.

    Also size comparison.

Chaos chosen, still needs putty but may order some legs and have a chosen unit with great weapons.

Nice sorcerer, but I cant recall any citadel catalogue with him.
Is it a GW's mini or I'm just much mistaken?
Anyway all looks cool, cant wait for more pics of chosen .
    Cheers!

I always like to see Dawi-Zharr project logs, especially ones that promise to contain extensive converting of the large hatted individuals.

I'm already a big fan of the Taurus conversion and I must admit to being intrigued as to what will be filling in the gap on the Giant's hip...
