Junk Pirates! - an Uncharted Seas Blog

Ok, so I start a new work contract next week and I needed a holiday project. Since people at my local club have picked up Uncharted Seas, and have been playing for almost a year, I decided it was here to stay. Then when someone showed me the Ralgard force I knew I was going to be drawn into playing this game. Still havn't read the rules or played a game But I absolutely LOVE these models so im bound to have fun playing, I know it..

So heres my force, I went for a chinese look. Nothing special just basecoat, wash and highlight. The pictures are not great I will try and get some close ups of the fine details on the back and side of the larger (Cruisers?) ships.

    C&C welcome

Very nice - they are the new fleet, right? The colour scheme really suits the sculpts.

They look great! Do you like the Uncharted Seas Rules?

I love the models but am unsure if I should buy them.

Cheers, have yet to play a game hopefully it will be this month now my gaming group is over the summer break. However I listened to the D6 generation review and really like the sound of the rules. Link

Now that's a nice looking, very neat looking fleet - I like the bases, straightforward, but complement the paintjob nicely.

    What are you planning next?

So, this is what has been distracting you from AI.

Makes me recall the olden days of Man-O-War.

Great painting. I really like the sails.

Forgotten to post updates in a while I've finshed the starter set and bought a few airships for some games at the club 40k tournament.

This is the colour scheme im going for but didn't manage to finish it in time. You can see the airships and the battleship if you look close enough at the big battles pictures.

What do you think of the game in terms of being able to replay it?

    Cheers,

    Allan

Thanks, the game plays fast. Once you know what your doing it plays fast and bloody !

    Very fun game.

I imagine replayability will suffer if you intend to 'line up and fight' every game. I believe my enjoyment of the game is moving towards fighting difficult sceanrios.

A feeling similar to cracking a difficult computer game level/ puzzle, I will enjoy finally cracking that hopeless ambush sceanrio and earning my stripes (or is it pips?).

Also the iceberg game was ALOT of fun ! and the group is working on other fun rules like Volcanoes, Tsunamis e.tc. There is so much scope for expanding play from this game ! Im very pleased with it.

I also dont feel any of my units are over/underpowered, they are have a great synergy and a definate playstyle.

    The airships look pretty cool.

I also love the idea of the floating icebergs! Consider it stolen!

    Consider it stolen twice!
    That's a neat idea for a scenario.

The Ralgard models are utterly stunning and you've painted them up very nicely indeed.

I've kept an eye on Uncharted Seas and Spartans other games seeing if there was anything that really jumped out at me from a modeling stand point simply because I don't know how likely I am to be able to convince friends to start a new game on top of all those they already play.

My bank balance is getting a little worried.

And thanks for the link to the D6Gen review too.

I have the exact same problem. As it is, we don't even get enough time playing the usual games we play :cries:

Re: Junk Pirates! - an Uncharted Seas Blog

    Update

I have been working on my Airships, and thought I would post up my progress. I am really pleased with the material colour of the balloons, which is Deneb stone, washed with Gryphone sepia. I am very pleased with the Jerak war balloon (pictured), but I forgot to photograph the tugboats which have been finished for a while (you can see them in the action shots). I recently bought the Raknarl cruiser (only after receiving it did i realise I need at least 2 to field on the sea of battle I also bought a great bit of terrain called "Skull Mountain" which you may be able to spot in the pictures below.

    Enjoy!
