At the end of the day, though, the photos give the clients a perfectly realistic idea of what their minis look like. If they're a bit shiny, they're a bit shiny. These minis have been glues, painted, varnished and re-varnished. They're bloody indestructible in terms of normal gaming use.
Don't sweat it, the pics are good enough. I have a lot of the same issues with my own photos of minis. My camera just can't do the job, and when I manage to borrow one that is, I live in an area where sunlight isn't always around at this time of year.

Sure I could rig up a lighting system, but I'm not that ambitious

Anyways, the Beastmen look great. Keep up the good work!

No wonder that you thought 2nd ed 40K sucked. You weren't even playing it.

We've got some more Beastmen coming along in Precinct Omega, including a couple of lovely hero models from the BaneLords range from Maelstrom Games. Here's a WIP of the first one:

Nice model to use for the revival of this thread. Not to completely derail it, but how'd the not so new technique of multiple people working on a painting line going for you? Made life easier?
Glad that the client is liking the work, and this chap is starting off real nice.

    Nearly done:

@Grisnik - It means we can work on many more projects simultaneously and meet shorter deadlines. However, if has proved an issue with items lost in the post or freelancers who are occasionally less reliable than others.

@Confessor_Atol - Actually, I think this one is a Shaman. I'll be doing the BSB next.

Post and reliability.. not always something that can go hand and hand.. but still good to see that you can work smarter instead of harder in some cases.

Also.. loving the skin on this model here. The reflection on it is just perfect.. Great job so far!

I'm just waiting for some Tamiya Clear Red to come in the post so I can add weeping blood to the devotional wound on his chest.

The musculature on this mini is very rewarding: easy to paint and with a great final effect.

Here's my own next contribution: nearly finished the BSB.

I must post up the pics of some of the other models painted by freelancers contributing to this army. The big monsters, in particular, look lovely.

And this was achieved with the help of magnetic paper from http://oggames.co.uk (and no, I'm not sponsored by them - I just appreciate good service). This self-adhesive sheet can be cut with scissors or, for more precision, a hobby scalpel. One sheet stuck itself to the regimental base and I cut an identically-sized sheet up into 25mm squares and simply stuck them to the bottom of each base. The glue is strong enough not to need any additional help, but can be repositioned a couple of times if needed (and it's important to get the sheet properly lined up one on top of the other, as, if you turn one sheet through 90degrees it won't stick to the other sheet anymore!).

Anyway, if anyone's interested, I might do a tute on this with the next regiment I attack.

Did you get a tutorial done for this in the end? Would be very interested, good work on the beastmen

@MOMUS - One more thing on my list of "stuff to do", I'm afraid. The good news, though, is that I've learned a lot of things about how to do it better since I first did it for the Beastmen in that old, old project.

Finally, I'm finishing the movement trays for this batch of beastmen, so here's the first of the regiments painted by Freelancer Martyn:

A quick shot of the Harpies so far. These aren't finished, but I'm getting the last three up to this level before I finish them all off in one sitting.

Looking supercool, especially the horde of gors.
