Thread: Precinct Omega paints Beastmen

    Re: Precinct Omega paints Beastmen

Well, with the lone exception of the BSB, the army's done (for now!), so here're the photos I took of everyone ranked up on the right regimental bases for the client to collect:

    Bestigors, with Beautylord Viktoria:

    Gor Regiment 1:

    Gor Regiment 2:

And the Ungor Raider regiments, all in one big blob:

Now, before I go, could I make an appeal? The rating of this thread has dropped from 4-point-something to three in the last few days. Now, I appreciate feedback of all sorts and if someone doesn't like what we've done with this project that's great. But dumping a 2* or 1* rating on our work without any explanation is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

So if you just hate dipped armies, or think that professional painters should stay the hell off Warseer, then feel free to say so and justify your low rating. But my painters have worked hard to finish this army to a tight deadline and I happen to think it will look brilliant on the tabletop (especially with the client's own Cygor and Ghorgon conversions added to its ranks). So to all of my painters, however large or small their contribution to this project, from the ones who assembled, based and primed the minis to the painters of the hero and command minis, thank you for your hard work.

This army is far from done with and I look forward to sharing its expanding ranks with you over the next few months.

The same thing happened with my thread, I got a 1 a week ago, I think it's someone being an ass.

    The army looks great.

i think its looking good. the only things i would change the bases don'y match the trays. i would rim the models again and get the trays to match.

i will give you a five to try and balance out the scoring.

The problem is that the star system is completely arbitrary, and there is no way to police it. I think its atleast a 4 star job, dipping is a very different way of painting models, and without a doubt is easier, but it can be, and is in this case a very effective technique.

Best of luck with your business.

I had the same thing happen a few days ago, some chump decided to go and drop a 2 on all my logs, you know my opinions on dipping but I certainly wouldn't say it looks awful. I think Sheep hit the nail on the head, its a shame you can't see who has voted and what they voted.

BTW Mr J, you sorted them woodies out

They're on their way from the US, apparently, Mark. Ooh, having said that, though... A work offer will be en route, shortly!

    Re: Precinct Omega paints Beastmen

Yeah, this looks really nice. I would be proud to own this army.

As far as the jerk dropping one and two ratings on people's plogs, that's just lame. But, I can't say it surprises me a whole lot. It's just someone being either jealous or petty.

I gave you a good rating.

Well, the client's happy, because he's sent me more minis to paint. Here're the first ten Ungor Warriors, all painted:

Why are using a flash? can you post some bigger picture please

    Re: Precinct Omega paints Beastmen

I have learned, by trial and error, what settings give the best pics from my camera, and in most circumstances, this means using the flash. Especially at this time of year.

As for larger pics... not of this unit. There's not much to show. However, the source image on my hard drive is much larger. If you want pics of any units or models from projects in which you're a collaborator, just drop me an email and I'll send you the source image.

I've just magnetized this regiment and finished the movement tray. Just got Kazrak One-Eye still to come from another freelancer.

If you are having trouble with lighting then I might suggest you try a daylight bulb, It has certainly done the trick for me, so much so I don't even need to use Gimp to alter the lighting of the pictures.

BTW are you going to the GW thankyou in December? I just got a letter through the door, I think I might go, will make a change to actually get some warhammer in on my Birthday.

    Re: Precinct Omega paints Beastmen

    I'm still negotiating with SWMBO.

Believe me, there is no combination of lighting I haven't used. It's not that my lighting system is perfect. It's that I can't afford a camera that can get the better pictures. But I'm working on it.

At the end of the day, though, the photos give the clients a perfectly realistic idea of what their minis look like. If they're a bit shiny, they're a bit shiny. These minis have been glues, painted, varnished and re-varnished. They're bloody indestructible in terms of normal gaming use.
