It's a really nice gutterrunner. I like the skin tone, fits well with elite skaven feel. Maybe you should do something to emphasize the slings on some of them? Anyway the ratogre is amazing! Just one question, is your colour scheme yellowish or is it just the lamp?

Very nice work. I thought of using the black reach power claw as well on a rat ogre for my Mordheim Skaven, but like your average gamer, I bought the bits and they're unhappily sitting unused on my table where they're likely to stay for all eternity. Luckily I can live vicariously through your conversion. EEEEE!

    Thanks for the feedback.

Glad you like the skintone Echunia. I guess the lamp gives a slightly yellow light, however the colours of the gutterrunner and rat ogre should both be pretty accurate. I've got a few slings waiting for the other gutterrunners, not sure what models to use as base though.

    Good work!

The plaguemonks are awesome and the ratoger is stunning. How did you paint the warpstone in his right shoulder?

    Keep it up

Yepp, vermin brown stippled with chainmail, and then shader to add some more depth. I'm quite used to stippling metal, so does not require far to much effort to get the highlight / stippling effect as I want it. Glad you like it, its quite a fast way to paint it. Spent alot more time on my Tyranids (the balks on the lower Zoe p1 and Hive Guard p4) with washing and dabbing vermin / fiery orange on chainmail coat, without shade.

Thanks! The warstone was painted after the skin, starting with scorpion green (thinned down more and more the farther from the source, for a light effect). Then highlighted with scorpion green + white, the stone itself then washed with snot green, then rehighlighted with scorpion green + white and then pure white.

I'm so glad you think it got lots of character, just what I aimed for! Sometimes ideas gets so great in your head that its hard to know if the final result is any good :P

Any ideas for skryre'esk unit fillers and hellpit abomination conversions would be appreciated. Also, suggestions for models to base more gutterrunner conversions on are very welcome. I'm thinking maybe some pack masters, or some of the hooded clan rats.

Thanks for boosting my motivation guys!

Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

I recently painted my Warlock Engineer and since I'm eager to show it, I will do so even if the pictures are not top notch. I'll try take better pictures in daylight tomorrow.

    Warlock Engineer

Its based on the IoB engineer, with armswaps, headswap and backpack swap. The lightning rod is from the IoB pack master, the pointy hand and tail weapon from the stormvermin command sprue, the head from the doomwheel pilot (without beard) and the backpack is an ork warlord shoota.

I'm quite satisfied with the 'tech' feel and payed some extra attention to all the glowy warpstone / engine parts. Hopefully I'll be able to take some better shots of the OSL effects from the warpstone (the upper one's is quite visible I guess, but not the lower one's).

Next up is probably my Plague Priest, not sure if I should keep him as he is (its the one from the Plague Furnace) or if I should modify him. I kinda dislike the way he holds his staff, so we'll see.

Also, I think I've decided upon what to use as back bone for my Abomination: The Caller's Rat Beast, Necromunda. I'll have to come up with a way to make it beefier. And add some engine parts to make it more techy. Ideas welcome!

    The engineer looks great.
Not sure about the rat beast, he looks pretty small compared to the abomination. Maybe add in some empire steam tank parts?

Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

Maybe try scratch building a huge mechanical monstrosity to represent the Abomination?

Nice use of the shoota for the Engineer's backpack, it doesn't look out of place at all!

Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

I'm sure whatever you come up with for the abomination is going to be aces. Your kit bashing is flawless. You make new models that look like they are GW sculpts, but still don't look like the models they were made from. I'm also enamored with your painting. The glow effects are Wunderbar.

Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

Finally another update, I've finished my plague priest. A minor conversion, repossitioning the arm and adding a brazier etc to represent a flail, and add some more glowy green to the miniature.

    Hope you like him!
