Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

Long time since my last update, but I'm hoping to post updates a bit more frequently again.

At the moment I'm working on the heroes for my skryre inspired mordheim warband, which will also double as front rankers for my upcomming stormvermin horde.

Here's the first one, the warband leader. Wounds and warpstone eye representing the 'horrible scar' injury, cybernetic tail to represent an upcomming tail fighting skill.

Next up is a black skaven with warplock pistol, followed buy some giant rats and packmasters.

Re: Sliver's Skaven (work in progress)

Managed to get some pictures of my latest rats before going on vacation. Sorry for the delay, have had some issues with the camera I usually borrow to take pictures (had to get new batteries, just to realize that the I got the wrong cord for transfering the pictures to my computer, etc etc.

    Here's the new rats.

Black Skaven with warplock pistol and eagle eye googles

Giant rats (hard to get hold of, but more giant than the current ones imo!)

Update pictures of the Assassin Adept (better quality, but still some shadowy parts due to the pose).

Next up (after vacation, so probably end of July) is some additional plagued monks, followed by some WIP pictures of assorted stormvermin based guys: a packmaster or two, a poison wind globadier, a fighting claw rat and some skryrified short style stormvermin.

And if Orcs are your cup of tea, my Orc Shaman will be finished by then aswell

Oh yeah, that is the old Doomwheel rider isn't it? I may not have noticed if mrtn didn't point it out first!
I think the GW store might have the old metal giant rats in the Skaven collectors models bit.

Red/orange: White undercoat, home mixed basecoat (something like blood red, blazing orange, vermin brown, 2:1:1, not sure, long since I mixed it ^^). Highlights with blazing orange, then blazing orange+sunbust yellow, then certain sharp edges/tips with a tiny amount of sunburst yellow. And a coat of light walnut shader.

Warpstone: White undercoat, glazes of scorpion green, sometimes thin glaze of sunburst yellow, and sometimes a slight shade of snot green near the base of the object. For the glow, white glazes / highlights with some transparancy, and then a glaze of scorpion green. Its a bit tricky to get right. Practice is key!

    Hope this helps!

Beautiful OSL on those globadiers. My favorite has to be the one in the middle, who appears to be frozen with fear at the moment he realized that he forgot to put on his gloves.

cannot for the life of me work out how i've missed this log, amazing work, your work pretty much epitomises everything i like about skaven and also why i'd never do a skaven army, cause i'd never be able to get the glowing stuff look anywhere near as good as that (that and the sheer number of rats required) I'll have a flick through the rest of the log but yeah great work

    Hey Sliver!

Skrits from the underempire here. Loving the new globadiers. I thought your painting couldn't improve but your highlighting on the latest batch (especially the back of their cloth) is even more awesome then your older models. Really dig the middle dudes pose and I love the right ones backpack.

Hope you will stick to painting Skaven for a bit instead of focussing on all those warbands you were talking about
