    Warriors of Khorne - ToFP

Did you know you can fit five characters on juggernauts in a 2500p game? Well you can, and this inspired me to start a Khornate warriors of chaos army. Even signed up for the Tale of Fantasy Painters.

Anyway, here is the first one, still a little work left on him, but I like how he is turning out. The juggernaut is from the bloodcruscher box, with chaos knight legs and marauder torso. The head is from the chaos warriors box.

Very nice chap, are the markings runes on the right hand "rump" part of the model or added by yourself?

    Re: Warriors of Khorne

Thank you for the nice comments!

@brendino: For the juggernaut I started with a basecoat of p3 skorne red, then shaded with skorne red mixed with black, then blended it towards pure skorne red again. Then I washed it with baal red. I then highlighted the edges using skorne red mixed with white, blending it towards pure white. After that, more baal red. The rider wash shaded only with several layers of baal red, and highlighted the same way as the jugger.

@Nightmare Mazer: The metals are very simple. For the brass I started with tin bits, applied one highlight of p3 rhulic gold, and washed it with devlan mud. The iron was done by overbrushing boltgun metal over black, followed by a heavy badab black wash.

@Ludaman: Hehe, yeah, though not so effective perhaps now that they no longer recieve look out sir-rolls.

@Earthbeard: The runes are part of the model, and are perhaps the weakest part of the sculpt. Looks more like someone applied some random grafitti than marks of the gods.

Some of the chosen I'm working on. They are bhuilt using all manner of different bits, from possessed chaos space marines, chaos knights, men at arms, bestigors, chaos marauders, death company blood angles and regular chaos warriors.

Oh yeah, they guy on the left does not have a bloodletter head, it is a mask.

Fantastic work. The red is really effective, I'll have to try out your method.

Dude, the picture isn't really good. It doesn't zoom enough and I barely see the general look of the models.
I'd LOVE to see the details on each of them They seem a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

    Re: Warriors of Khorne

So, here is a tutorial on how I paint a juggerknight

Undercoat the model black. Give it a heavy overbrush of boltgun metal, followed by a lighter drybrush of mithril silver.

Then apply an even coat of p3 skorne red. This may take several layers.

Wash the red areas with baal red. This helps you see where to paint deeper shades.

Make a 3:1 mix of skorne red and black. Apply where you want the deepest shade.

    Re: Warriors of Khorne

Add more red to the mix and gradually blend the paint brighter.

Highlight the edges by painting a line of skorne red mixed with just a little bit of white added to it. Follow this with another line thinner line with more white added to it. Finally, use a small ammount of pure white where light would reflect off the model, such as sharp corners. Then wash with baal red. After waiting for the paint to dry completely apply another wash of baal red. Then another another wash of baal red .

The rider was only shaded with baal red as the details were too fine to shade "manually" with the red/black mix (not because I'm lazy. Honest).
