    Mordheim- what's the learning curve?

As a long time skaven player, I've always been facinated by Mordheim, but never got to playing.

How tough is it to learn the game and get started with Skaven?
How expensive is it to start? Can regular models be used?

And last but not least, how many people can play in a campaign?

Tough? Hardly. If you know WHFB or even 2nd d 40k, you're set. The only changes are the rules relating to stealth, height, and campaign specifics (income, hiring, new equipment, etc...)

Expensive, nope! You can build a fully useable Empire warband using the Empire Militia box (which is precisely what Mordheim models were) and Skaven can be converted easily enough from Clanrats I believe.

Regular models are completely useable. Most weapon options are as standard, but in the Skaven case there are also slings, throwing stars, claw-type blades, etc... as said, one box of Clanrats and a bot of imagination.

You can have as many people as you want. The beauty of Mordheim is that you can even play 4 man games with ease. There's no allegiances in Mordheim, you just fight like madmen the whole time. In short, it's bloody brilliant!

the Skaven are actually the Nightrunners from that boxed set (same principle as the Militia)

Ack, no! Unless you really, really want a challenge the like of which would send Rob Lane running away in terror, I would advise against that. =D The latest rules review completely screwed amazons over.

I've only played a few games myself and I've loved it, and found it quite easy to get into a learn, though because I don't know any Mordheim gamers up here, I'm forgetting a lot.

Basically, every special item they had that made them semi-powerful before is now no longer compatible with any sort of skill. Especially skills like Quick Shot and Expert Swordsman.

it uses all the basic WHFB basic rules, and after a couple games you should be used to the modifications.

God, i love mordheim, wait til you start campaigns with your friends thats the best.

a bit of a downer but I'll most likely persevere with them, i haven't seen any other warband that takes my liking
