Man you put up an entire army!

I like the eye for detail you put in some of your models. like:
    - the ammocrate in the mortar squad
    - the ogryn conversions, nice, everybody talks about it, you actually did it!
    - the scene with the ork and the walker is classic.

I think the underslung hunter killer missile looks odd. Maybe you could position it somewhere else on the model, or maybe it's just the angle of the camere, I don't know.
als , you might want to put some more work in the free-hand nubers/decal on you vehicles, the vehicles look awesome yet the numbers written on it seem too sloppy, the seem out of place on tanks painted that well!

regarding the eldar: your highlingting is verry good, how did you go about it? Nice

I don't understand why I'm the only one giving you a reply, frankly your work deserves it!

    cheers!

Thanks very much the kind comment! Im glad you've appreciated some of the odd little things I've tried to add. I really ought to finish putting up all the picks of the army I have there's still a fair bit to come lol.

I completely agree with the hunter missile problem. The only trouble is I couldn't find anywhere else to put it that didn't look worse! I don't know if anyone has any suggestions for where would look better. Its only blu-tacked on (so I can remove it once fired) so I can easily move it. Possibly the stance of the sentinel doesn't help? I also apologise for some of the free hand work on these models. This was the first army I tried it on with, to say the least, mixed results! Perhaps you can see why I haven't rushed to try the free hand detail on my eldar lol. Also, alot of the models were painted up very quickly over the summer in time for an apocalypse game, and I think that shows in some cases. Anyway enough with the excuses!

In terms of the highlighting of the Eldar, they were painted in three layers (after I'd basecoated and shaded), with each highlight being further concentrated on just the upper edges, where the light would catch. They were then all tied together with a blue glaze.

I will try and get an update up in the next couple of days (honest!)

    Thanks all!

    UPDATE!!

    at long last...

progress (embarassingly little) on my Dire Avengers: next two painted:

and here's (one of...) the reasons for so little Eldar getting done

    Thanks for reading!

I'm afraid I've jumped on to the Dark Eldar bandwagon. Alas the new kits were just FAR too tempting! The craftworld Eldar will just have to wait, probably until they release decent jet bikes! Grrr... lol well having had a bit of a play with the plastic kits I have to admit they really are superb! Here's the work completed so far, 2 warriors, 1 wych, 1 helion and a reaver (couldn't resist doing one of each first!)

    Re: HereBeDragons' Paintathon

Well Im heading back to university tomorrow so I felt it was time to update the plog about my painting plans for next while. Most of the Dark Eldar are still on the sprues so they're out, besides me thinks there's enough of them on Warseer at the moment lol. After the complete painting failure of last term, I feel I need something quick to paint...

Night Goblins! Thats right kids the plog is going green for the next few months while I paint up my night goblin collection. They've been sat in a box under my desk for YEARS! But the time is finally right fo them to see the light of day!

The model above is a test to work out the method I'll use to paint them. Needless to say batch painting is in order! Some more angles:

    So thats 1 down...

    79 to go!

Please Please Please let me know what you think!

Those dire avengers are looking sweet!

I've been resisting the DE urge myself. I've been successful so far, because I'm making my entire collection visible to me by taking out a lot of my minis, blisters and boxes out of the cupboard. It's so disturbing my wallet hides from me.

Cheers! And well done on resisting! Maybe I should have tried that one lol

    Update!

Finished my first rank of night goblin spearmen! I have to admit I really like these models got so much character lol They're alot better than the current versions imho. But anyway here's a couple of pics:

Unfortunately I didnt bring my supplies of static grass and coarse turf so it'll be a while before I can completely finish the bases. I also intend to apply dags etc at random to the unit once they've all been painted.

Looking good, as is the norm with you it seems
I only wish I had the motivation to put up to the speed you paint your models, but alas, my perfectionism puts me "back out of line"...
And let us see a taster of those DE, I'd like to see more creative color schemes, to decide if I should get a model or two just for painting!

Anyhow, nice to see you're not getting a mindblock whenever you sit down at your desk.
The best regards from the not as cold as expected Finland wastes! I'm still hoping the -50 degree weather expectations were just to troll people into buying more clothing

Wow! Thankyou! Thats definately appreciated coming from you! The Goblins are very quick to paint (compared to those damn dire avengers that I need to finish lol!) and better than that its actually really enjoyable! Maybe its the sense of achievement when I finish a rank? I'll see how I feel after I get through the other 70!

As for the dark eldar, current thoughts lie along the lines of blue... but alas it will be a while before i get round to painting anything. Want to stick to the night goblins while Im at uni which unfortunately wont leave me alot of time to get on with the DE, at least not until the summer probably.

Thanks! I decided I'd go for a similar colour scheme to how GW used to paint their night goblins. Thought it would definately suit the classic models better than having bright red weapons and yellow shields!

    Update!

Finished the next rank! (well apart from one model...)

    The unit so far

The unpainted goblin I was intending to convert into a netter, but never got hold of any nets. So unfortunately he will have to wait until I can get hold of some bitz. I've got another two in the front rank as well which is a shame. Maybe they will encourage me to get hold of some !

    Re: HereBeDragons' Paintathon

Just a quick wip shot of the command models, and I apologise for the picture quality. Need help with the banner bearer. Does anyone have any idea why they had a skaven banner top option in the old goblin box?

I've currently painted it as metal, but Im not sure whether it wouldn't be better as wood? What do people think? Im also considering just removing it and not bothering with any banner top since it seems too skaven rather than goblin?

    Suggestions would be massively appreciated!

    Anyway here's the pic:

You could always paint the banner up like a skaven banner that has been stolen and "tagged up" by the gobbos. One Love

Thats an excellent idea! One of my friends has just started collecting Skaven, so I think that would be perfect!

Cheers! Though you should definately give them a go! I was dreading it for years but they're actually really enjoyable to paint. I dont know what it is but they are such charming, cartoony (in a good way) models!

    Re: HereBeDragons' Paintathon

    Update!

Command models done! Well, atleast as done as I can with the paints I brought with me from home. The banner will be painted up at a later date following lord_of_end_times suggestion as a stolen skaven banner that has been suitably despoiled by the goblins ! Here's some picks of them:

Since I got these off friends when they decided to give up on them, I had to make do with the parts I had available. The boss ended up with a different shield due to the fact I didn't have enough moon design shields. I guess thats the problem with buying models off others! Still, I don't think it harms the look of the unit . The other two models in the front rank are destined to be netters when I manage to get that sorted out...

Woo! Im one quarter of the way through the night goblins!!!
