Looking rather nice there. I actually went out and bought a box of Wyches last week after looking at your blog, going to convert them a bit to add to my Dark Elves. They are such a nice kit. I may even paint one or two up as Dark Eldar.

Hey! Awesome! Im glad to have inspired someone to buy models! very flattering. I'd always wondered if the wych kit could be converted into some witch elves. Is that what you were planning?

Just a quick update to say my Dark Eldar have had their first victory! I went down to Games Workshop this evening and had a game against a force of Grey Knights. The mission was annihilation with a spearhead deployment. I won 7 - 5! Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera so no pics. My opponent was also inexperienced with his army so it was a pretty good match up. Im very pleased with how they performed!

Not actually going to use them as Witch Elves, I'm converting them into beat handlers for my Storm of Magic beasties. If the conversions come out ok. Figured it was a cheaper way of getting handlers and makes the beasts look more Dark Elfy.

Thanks! I hoped it would make them look rather vicious.

Ah! Thats a great idea! Just need to make some whips out of green stuff/spare bits to replace the pistols and you'll be away. I look forward to seeing them.

    Update!

I've painted up the guardsmen victims for the two unit champions and the Archon. I decided on the cadian scheme for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I didn't think a camo scheme that matched the bases would look very good... at least I couldn't think of a way of making grey/orange work. Secondly its a stronger image for the guardsmen, and matches the cover art on the army book nicely which I thought would be nice. I also fancied painting the scheme! Having seen how they've come out, I kinda wish I'd painted my guard army like this! I also thought the blood would stand out quite nicely... On the subject of blood, it will be added once the DE models are painted.

First up, the warrior's Sybarite. Please note that I left the left arm unpainted intentionally, I realised I'd missed an area on it that I had intended to green stuff so I'll paint it up once the green stuffing has been done. Unfortunately I left my green stuff at home when I moved down to cambridge so it'll have to wait a while!

    The wych squad Hekatrix:

And the Archon. Im a little unsure what colour to paint the soul smoky stuff. I was thinking a ghostly grey type colour, but Im definately open to suggestions!

Poor imperial guys, I'm not into 40k but do recognise some ace conversions and good painting. It sure gives the army style, keep them comming.

Oo you're painting up the Sybarite! I was really looking forward to seeing that. It's a great diorama-on-a-base.

    The Archon is also painted:

What do you think of the grey smoky stuff to represent the soul?

Finally with this painted, I have a core force in place, with 2 troops and a HQ choice. This is the first 1/3 of the army . Let me introduce you to the Dragonsheart Kabal

great job on finishing so much in such a short time! It all looks really great!

As for the soul stealing diorama, the idea is cool, but the material at present looks more like a net. Would plain cotton wool have a better effect? You wouldn't really have to paint it since it would look wispy and all that.

Still, if you're happy with it, do keep it.
Once again, a fantastic job all round.

Thanks. Yeah I was thinking that. The benefit is that the paint has given it that bit of rigidity to survive transport that little bit better. I may try repainting it. Certainly dark colours aren't helping, so maybe having a good go at painting it in much lighter colours, light grays and whites. Maybe a few spots of colour... but if that falls through I may have to replace it with fresh cotton. Thanks for the feedback, its really helpful to get!

A little birdy told me (actually, it was you in Juicy's log) that you are starting up a WHQ project...

    Any teaser shots on that?

Alas nothing more than the one shot I put up a little while ago, its on page 10 if you want to remind yourself. It was my first corridor section. I bought a big sheet of that blue polystyrene foam stuff which fits on all the core rooms from the game except one objective room. Unfortunately its still at my parents home, I didn't have time before leaving in september to do more than chop out another couple of corridor sections. My plan for the time being is to work on my Dark Eldar until I get home for christmas, then properly start work on the WHQ project. So there'll be a bit of a wait before I get anything done on them Im afraid Hopefully it'll be worth the wait however!

Hey guys! I wanted your opinions on something! Im currently painting up my ravager which I've given the Night Shields upgrade. To represent this I've painted the front of the vehicle in a much darker scheme. I was wondering what people thought about it? Here are some pics:

The shields that the gunners have will also be painted dark so that when viewed from the front the vehicle is almost completely dark.

    What do you think?

Looks good, but I think at the moment it just looks like you're half way through the highlights. Once you get the other colours painted up and darken them down at the front, I think it will look like the effect you're after.

I really am loving these Dark Eldar I'm just sooooo tempted to start up my own force.
