Thread: Cadians for Golden Demon Diorama

Re: Cadians for Golden Demon Diorama

    Right,

Here's the next few photos. No more cadians yet, but I have been working on finishing the Tyranid. I'm fairly happy with the skin, but the carapace is driving me slowly mad with feathering the lines on.

    C&C Please!

Please note, A) there is still a lot of work to be done, the skin is the only finished part on the 'fex. and B) the guardsmen are not glued on, only pinned atm so that I know their positions. and C) the 'fex is only pinned onto the base as that will be the next step once the 'fex is completed.

Looks awesome mate. Very good work. But isn't better to keep your submission a little more secret? There will be enough imitaters who could copy your work... It's a shame, because it's very inspiring for me. Like myself, I always try to cross borders with guard conversions.

i really like your idea and i like your work so far. but (yes, i know, noone likes the buts) same as the guardsmen, your fex might need some thin washes on it's lower portions. there the skin is in shadow and thus needs to be darkened.

i know that you are running out of time, but seriously, do those washes in between drying times of other stuff or something. you won't need more than probably 10 minutes of doing a couple of washes on the lower parts on the big beasty and there you go.

again, don't take my comment in a bad way, i'm really only trying to help. it's rather that i'd like to see you succeed and at least reach the finals, because i like the trophy shot idea and your clean brushwork a lot.

    cheers mate.

    Hiya,

Thanks for the advice so far. I will be doing some light washes on each of the models once they are completed, so that I can get the shading positions right. More photo's to follow tomorrow!

Right, after 48 hours worth of weekend, and 21 hours of those spent painting, here are a couple of updated pictures I managed to take last night before I fell asleep.

I will get some more detailed photos later.

The base looks fantastic mate. If I would suggest anything it would be maybe churning up the soil around the 'fex. I imagine these things thrashing around a lot before they finally go down for good!

    Great work though!

This looks like a fun project, but if you're looking to place then this is the standard you need to be aiming for:

The UKGD gets guys from all over the place entering, and the level is crazy.

Re: Cadians for Golden Demon Diorama

Yes.. Thanks DarkMark. Having entered Golden Demon for the past 10 years I am well aware of the standards needed. I have placed in finalist position several times as well. The reason for posting on Warseer is to ask people to help me improve my techniques, not to just tell me what the standard is.

Thankyou Emilio101, I have added more texture to the base and some claw/drag marks. The first couple of completed and weathered models are glued on now. More photos to follow shortly.

Haha! I love it! This really captures what the IG are about. Is the photographer going to be a soldier as well?

I think the term is "remembrancer"...

Though a servo-skull with a camera would be awesome.
