    107th Caeldoni Regiment of Foot

Hi all, I figured it was about time to start a thread about the infantry part of my guard army. You can see my armoured regiment here, and my Dark Angels log here. As I mention in the log for the armoured regiment there are two parts to my army, the 107th Caeldoni Regiment of Foot - primarily light infantry, and the 820th Panzergruppen - the armoured elements.

The majority of the infantry that I have was painted early on in my gaming career, in fact apart from a few space wolves, these were the first models I painted. And can tell. Any of them that look like they're well painted were either done by my brother (lazyn), or done by me more recently. I still want to go back and repaint most of them, well the faces anyway as they look terrible tbh. But I've got other things on the go at the moment so that won't happen for a while.

Anyway, enough talking, here are a few pics of the infantry, I'll add some HQ elements later. I think I'll have to take some more photos as these ones are average. Oh well LOL

And some heavy weapon squads. I've just finished my take on Marbo, he's been sitting on the desk partially done for months now so I figured I'd finish him off, will take some pics later. Next on the list for these guys is a rough rider squad who are waiting on some chaos black at the moment

Looking fab lazy.sarge, the camo is a nice touch. I especially like the banner bearer, the banner design is fantastic. In the first pic, the chain sword is covering some words, what are they?
Looking forward to seeing the RR's.

Thanks man I was looking for something that represented light infantry, quick strike etc so I though lightning was fitting. The words are Regt of Foot

The cam scheme came from an attempt to represent New Zealand DPM.

And yeah I'm looking forward to seeing the RRs too LOL

Re: 107th Caeldoni Regiment of Foot

The holidays are here so I've found some time do actually do some work on these fellas, over the last few days I've brought the Rough Riders up to close to finished. Have att pics of some of the closer ones.

I had a lot of good advice in my Panzergruppen thread about how to '40k-ise' the riders, hopefully it's worked. I certainly think they look a lot darker than the knights they've been converted from. Still some minor details to add like grenades, canteens etc.

Have also added some photos of the lancers in the group, looking for advice as to the colour of the lance, I've done one in scorched brown and one in codex grey. Interested as to which one looks better or what I should use instead. Cheers

Re: 107th Caeldoni Regiment of Foot

I think the lances would look nicer in a paler colour to contrast with the armour. maybe snakebite leather with a touch of chaos black drybrushed with bleached bone. Or you could replace the standard plastic ones with a piece of brass rod for a less Fantasy feel.
A couple of grenades at the end would look great. Explosive lances FTW

Hmmm, paler you say? Will have another test and see how it comes out. I've already replaced the ends of the lances with cut down Space Marine missiles, once they're painted they will look more explodey Not sure I want to replace the lances completely, but will cross that bridge if I can't get the current ones to look better. Cheers

Re: 107th Caeldoni Regiment of Foot

After some more work last night and today, they're pretty much done. Still some minor things to do like unit/sub-unit designators and grenades/canteens etc. C&C welcome as always

Oh and I decided on Graveyard Earth for the lances, with Bleached Bone highlights. Thanks for the advice icecream boy

Only eight as that's how many horses come in the Knightly box, may add more after I see how effective (or not) they are

Yes these look great now. I think the only thing too Fantasy about them is the legs, though that would be hard to change. Even if you changes the feet over it would look much better. And round/capsule bases would be nice too

Hahaha, yeah I could change the feet, but don't have enough spare legs for that, and I put too much effort into the bases to change them now. I'm happy with them now, and they've already been moved to the 'done' pile and a Valkyrie I got for xmas last year has been moved onto the desk Will add grenades/canteens etc when I get around to it LOL

I like 'em! There are a couple of things I might do differently, but the overall effect is quite good. The OD Green armor gives the mounts a more modern look, and the assorted holsters, packs, grenades, &c. really helps pull together the mix of components. Nicely done!

Some new infantry for the horde. Including FW plasma dudes with hostile environment suits

I can now make two full platoons of three squads and four vet squads
