As well as my Mantic Dwarfs army, I figured I really should have a GW legal army for Conflict, or instore tournaments, so, from my vast hoard, I, for the time being at least, figured Ogres was the best place to start. Big models and points cost = low model count, and they work as suspicious allies to everybody, so I can bulk out my Dwarfs with them, or get started on one of my Chaos forces at a later date.
So, a little background...
My Ogre army is a tribe of savages from the rain-drenched isle of Albion, whose name sounds almost like Skullpluckers, but isn't quite. The name comes from a devolved practise they inflict upon the heads of their enemies (severed or otherwise) in order to remove the last remains of tasty brain before mounting the skulls as warnings to any other trespassers. Of course, the larger the victim, the easier it is. Like all Ogres, they pride themselves on girth... They are uncivilised and brutish, more so than any other Ogre tribe around, and spend all their time either fighting, growling in strange accents, chasing the elusive Haggis and deep frying various races in order to find the perfect ending to a night of brawling, drinking, and 'brain removal...' The Skull(pl)uckers cover their faces in blue warpaint, with vivid white crosses, the origins of which remain a mystery. Like all Ogres, they are monothestic, but have coined the insult 'Yer Maw,' which Imperial scholars have debated to mean it is either suggestive that the insultee is less favoured by the Ogre God, or has a puny mouth, which would be inadequate for any serious eating competition.
First up is my unit of Bulls for the ToFP, although they are still to be varnished and have blood added. I'm still working on a banner top, although it will involve a large skull. Possibly with enlarged eye sockets...
I have since, repainted all the facial hair ginger, as, if you are going to rip into a racial stereotype, you might as well do it properly.
Next up will be, eh, I dunno. I have a huge amount of OK stuff to be getting on with. Probably a Bruiser and 2 more units to make a legal army.
EDIT - I want to include at least one of every possible option for my army, regardless of tabletop prowess. I reckon approximately 200 - 250 points per choice as a general figure, of course, this will be easy to hit with Ogre units, and more challenging with Gnoblars. Some choices have a fixed point cost, so, I'm stuck with that, and some characters might be hard pushed to get that high, Lords being the exception.
So (entries in blue are complete, those in orange are being worked on)
