    Waaaagh Riksmeg!

    Hi all,

This is going to be my project log for my ToFP for Orcs and Goblins.

I've Edited this first thread to keep an up to date photo of the army to date.

    (Army shot inc)

    Original post

I already have a fair bit of models, most not painted, or in need of re-painting, I'll post what models are already painted and then use this thread as a WIP for the rest of the army as it's built during ToFP.

    First off;
    My Giant
I painted this guy about 8-9 years ago (I think), I really like the model, but think I do need to get hold of the new one as that is even better.

Ok WIP for month one ToFP are on my mobile phone camera and shocking, may get them up at a later date, here are more pics which didn't make the cut on the thread and those which did.

I was happy with the boarz however not convinced with the orcs skin colour, I haven't actually done any highlighting on two of them as I was going to do some more test painting and re-do the skin at a later date.

WIP for month2 - spider riders
I've gone for a blue theme for the army - so blue spiders ftw, though I'm going to red shields for a little colour change

    Thumbs up Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

Looking really good. The tones are very fitting and the use of shading is apparant. Nicely done, I look forward to seeing more, but stay away from Ulthuan!

I've been working on the spiders for month two ToFP
I've done the spiders in chaos black, regal blue, enchanted blue and ice blue.

    Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

Ok I'm going to try to keep this thread going throughout this years ToFP and finally get an entire army finished (Been on and off the hobby for 21 years so this really should become a reality before I die).

Here's some pics of my WIP for month 1, most of the savage orc shaman and forest goblin shaman are done, just want to top them up a little (Think I need a lighter shade for their skin).

I've also thrown in a pic of my current photo set up, quite amuses me, will be looking at getting myself a cheap (£30 on amazon, but will shop around to try to find something cheaper/better for the price) set-up (Something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Stu...pd_sim_sbs_ce3 )

And here's WIP on my giant

    C&C welcome as usual.

    Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

Here's a start I've made to the giant, I've magnetized the hands (at the wrists) and head to be able to field various different options that come in the box set as there's so much choice I couldn't decide on my favourites.

I'm quite happy how it's coming along, however struggling a little with the skin, up really close there's a nice blend of skin tone however from a distance and especially on camera with extra light source it looks rather bland, I'm a bit worried that if I go for the sharp contrasts rather than gradual, it could look ... I'm not sure for right choice of words, but I probably wouldn't be happy with it.

I think what I'll do is paint up the arms I'll not be using and try different options on them and go with what looks best, will post them as I go along to see what y'all think.

I've added some spiders from the a'rock kit to the base, but didn't want to go over the top with some of the extras especially adding around the giants belt, I'll save them in my bitz box for special characters and such

    Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

Ok, to start keeping this more as a painting journal and not a "Here's what I've finished painting for the month log", I'm going to try posting at least once a week, this should also help keep me motivated and most importantly, painting!!

Giant, well to keep you updated with this, I haven't done a huge amount, it came together quite quickly and I got over excited and started painting before I had truly finished prepping the model, so I've added some greenstuff mid paint job and also done a few washes to change the skin tone a bit more purplish, will post pics as this progresses, but looks a bit messy for now.

Here's my progress with the A'Rok for ToFP, I've finished the shaman and shrine for Nov's deadline, will get the spider and howdah finished for Decembers.
The spider itself needs more work, when I look at the pics, I can see there's not an even level of blue across the model from the black, I do like the white bits though and am considering putting white patches onto parts of the legs, unsure if this would be too much though.

    Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

I've also tried to make a bit of a theme on the base

however I'm really impressed when I look at others models and how they've added tonnes of bits to their bases, so I may add some more at a later date.

Here's some pis of the Howdah
    v

Goblin Great Shaman (Don't think I'll ever use this in game, as I can see it becoming even more of a canon magnet than it already will be - and a huge amount of points)

    Re: Waaaagh Riksmeg!

Ok, updates time, have put the giant to one side for a few months, put some green stuff on him, EVEN though it's mostl painted, gah why am I such a noob!, anyway, will get him finished in Jan/Feb time.

Struggling for painting/motivation to paint time atm.

Did however buy a citadel wodd set which I got most of the base done in one sitting, it was alot of fun to make. Still to do on it, the roots and moss (which are currently still brown), I may also further ighlight the rocks, depends on how the trees look when they are done.

Hopefully as I took photo's in daytime next to front window, they've come out better than normal.
