Dawi of Karaz Ankor: The bearded one's dwarfs

Hello there. Obviously ( looking at my name, avatar and sig and the content of 75% of my posts ) I'm a dwarf fan and player. Time for a painting log.

I am nearly done with painting 2500 points, but it is worth sharing with you, as I have gotten a lot of praise on other fora and in my local GW. I still need to paint 7 miners, 10 or so hammerers, my BSB and my lord on shieldbearers, and I will definately add something more when the dwarfs are rereleased ( please plastic ironbreakers of epicness ).

Anyway, without furher ado. I have a unit of dwarf warriors, and they're not up to my standards anymore, so I decided to touch them up. The skull pass champion has been replaced with a champion I still had lying around from my first regiment of dwarfs ( which is retired, and being picked apart to be reused in regiments everywhere, I can't just abandon them after all ).

Here a picture for reference, this is how it looks/looked before I started repainting.

Here is the new command squad.

And here the first 7 repainted warriors.

Very nice! Would you mind giving me a tutorial on how you do a few of your bear colors (any colors will do) because the only one I can do well is bleached bone + flesh wash.

    Thanks;

wow - they looked pretty sharp before the repaint even. You have a nice, soft touch to them.

I too wouldn't mind seeing some beard recipes.

Re: Dawi of Karaz Ankor: The bearded one's dwarfs

    A couple of beard recipes;
    Lightbrown

    Snakebite leath + scorched brown
snakebite leather highlight on the strands
snakebite leather + skull white as final highlight on the strands ( can be done in multiple stages with varrying amount of skull white, bleached bone could be used instead of skull white as well )

    Fiery red
    scorched brown + vermin brown
    vermin brown
    vermin brown + skull white

    blonde ( more complicated )
    calthan brown
    calthan brown + snakebite leather
Calthan brown + snakebite leather + golden yellow
    "................................................. ................." + kommando khaki
    "................................................. ..........................................." + dheneb stone
    "................................................. .................................................. ................" + skull white

    and tadaaaaa! Blonde beards.

    White
    codex grey
    fortress grey
    fortress grey + skull white
    skull white

    grey
    chaos black + codex grey
    codex grey
fortress grey highlight on the strands

Yay, I've finally got one!! I could not resist the lure of the small template anymore!

And I just had an epiphany; A warmachine has a number of wounds. Each wound is a crewmember. When the warmachine loses it's last wound/crewmember, then the warmachine is removed as well. Well then why bother with using a warmachine and 3 seperate crewmembers running around? I'll just use 2 crewmembers and when the last wound is inflicted, remove the warmachine. So I glued a crewmember onto the base with the warmachine

Some nice looking dwarfs you got there, can't wait to see you get to grips with that grudge thrower. Will you be posting any pics of the rest of your army?

I sure will ^^ Most of it's already painted. I've got nearly 2500 pts finished.
And I'll post a pic of the grudge thrower W.I.P. in a few moments.

Some additional highlighting on the metal. It could use some as it was still rather messy and bland.

    High five!

The crew of the grudge thrower, finished! The engineer with pistol is converted from the BFSP one.
