I've been collecting GW minis for more than twenty years now, selling/trading some of my collection, but I'm a collector first, gamer second, and painter third ...

Then, four years ago, I had a "painting spurt", and over the course of roughly six hours per week for two years, I painted a bunch of Night Goblins, then found a job, and lost the motivation to finish the odds and ends of my NG army, without even thinking of the rest of my collection (Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen, Daemons of Chaos, Empire, Dwarves, the new IoB set ...) ...

Now, two years later, I've decided to start painting again, in part because of the new edition of the rules means more games with my friends, and also because I'm fed up with my undercoated minis ...

But my motivation is wavering (lost the above mentioned job, hard times IRL), so I thought about starting a plog and asking my fellow Warseerites for help ...

@Xcross : more pictures are coming today, nice and sunny for once in Belgium.

@Little Joe : well, I intend to collect more greenskins, but I'll wait for the new book before buying lots of models ... there's also an Island of Blood set coming in the mail, so that means a bit of High Elves and Skavens ... and of course I'd like to collect a few more models for my Chaos armies, enough to make a 3K list for each, but those are still in the "ideas on the drawing board" stage.

I wish you the best of luck. Consistency is very important(something I'm currently lacking).
If you make sure that you get in even half an hour every day (or every five) then you'll find yourself making leaps and bounds much more than if you have one large painting session a week.
Also, if you could re-size your pictures a little that would be great. At the moment reading your post requires a lot of side-scrolling. That will put some people off reading the thread.

A question for my readers : what size of pictures do you prefer from the three edited ones in the first post ?

Also, if you could re-size your pictures a little that would be great. At the moment reading your post requires a lot of side-scrolling. That will put some people off reading the thread.

I'm not having any problems, but I guess thats because I have quite a big screen, it would be wise to resize them tho. If people have to scroll to read every post, you won't get a lot of readers .

Update time : not much on the painting front, I undercoated 20 models and started the robes on some Night Goblin Squig Hoppers, but I took a bunch of pictures my currently painted gobboes ...

Looking good. The blue robes are a nice choice. It might just be the photos, but it looks like your metals could use a wash (black or brown); they currently look a bit flat, and like they're made out of silver or some crazy moon metal (unless that's what you're going for, obviously). Nice to see some of the older models brought up to speed too.

Hmm, yes, I see your point about the metals ... but I was going for a shiny look, according to a bit of fluff I wrote, my gobboes trade fungus beer for new weapons, and then go on a fungus-fueled Whaaaagh to try them ... still, I will try washes on my other projects, it should look good on my old Chaos Warriors

That is what I call a good start!

You can only have 30 hoppaz in a 8th edition army, so why not use the rest to boost the herder unit. Also the spear units should be a lot larger in 8th to survive with netters in the units. Seems like you have enough for two 70 spear units. Also gives you less animosity.

30 hoppaz at the 2K mark, yes ... and I did indeed think about using them as spare squigs for a bigger squig herd, with my spare clubbers as additionnal herders.

Well, I took the pictures of the army as it was for 7th ed, seeing as I'm still waiting for my copy of IoB to come in the mail, but I have plans for at least one horde of 70+ gobboes ...

Progress !

I've finished two "Snotling Fanatics", those two were part of a Pump Wagon purchase on eBay, I just repainted some parts and rebased them in the same style as my army :



I also finished the robes on 4 Squig Hoppers and 4 Fanatics :



And finally, I unearthed the two very first miniatures I painted for Warhammer, some twenty years ago :



I've also updated the first post with a couple of additions (4 NG Speargobs that I still need to assemble and the start of my Skaven list).

@Seville : thank you ... that's five years of collecting O&Gs, but it's only 2K or so worth of points, gobboes are cheap
