    Alphachicken's Dark Eldar

    Hello everyone,

    I'll be starting dark eldar soon, when they're released, as a side project for my Saim-Hann eldar corsairs. I've started my work by building a Venom, which I'm sure I'll be using when the armybook comes.

    There's quite a lot of background story and some drawings in my blog;
    http://supersincap.blogspot.com/

    Anyways, I've started with some concepts;

    Then moved onto building. I'll be using 1mm plasticard and miliput, and be as simple and fast as I can, since I have to build probably another one of this, and I am not really patient.

    I've taken some in-progress screenshots to anyone else whom might be building venoms, I hope they help

    A normal Vyper body;

    A longer design that I want takes shape

    Making the skeleton of the venom

    Then I built the "chariot-cart", and added the plasticard around.

    Some dirty milliput work continued to bind the plasticard pieces and the models together!

    Then I cut some blades and tails to add some "grimdark" into it.

    That's it for one day! I will hopefully add more and more detail to it tomorrow, and when the Dark eldar come out, I intend to add some hanging-on eldars, and other details. I hope you all like it.

    Hope to see you soon!

    Haha thanks Sheep, I'm sure people can do better with more hours put into it, I wanted to do this as fast as possible so couple episodes of "the pillars of the earth" saw through it. (really nice series btw if you haven't heard it before) It's meant to be a very simple convertion which I can repeat again and add more details once the dark eldar bits are availible. Shame I got a straight 3 rating for it.

    Thanks for all the other comments, I will hopefully get it sprayed today and see how the sandpapering worked. It should show better detail on the photographs aswell. Now if only the real dark eldar would arrive. *sighs*

    Good start!!! Can't wait to see what else you have to put together.

    On a different note.....how are the eldar doing? Man I loved that army of yours.

    Not bad so far, but I'm waiting till wave 3 to see if converting a Venom is required. I'd rather buy one.

    That looks really cool. I was thinking about converting some, but I don't know when the model is supposed to come out. Can't wait to see how this turns out, I might have to have a try on my own.

    Cheers,

    Wow, thats a very cool Venom, definitely looks different to a Vyper. One thing i'd do is swap the head of the crewman for a spare Dark Eldar or Dark Elf head, it just seems too craftworld for the model.

    Yeah definitely, I need to wait till I get my preorder though, waiting is killing me.I'll swap the head then. I also am thinking about adding some spikes and throphies on the back of the chariot cart. Need that raider sprue =(

    Anyways, slapped on grey paint on it today. I hope it helps a bit to see it together, the white of plasticard and miliput kinda made it hard.

    Thanks again, and see you soon \o

    Re: Alphachicken's Dark Eldar

    Looking nice all tied together like that. I think it could do for a couple spikes around the cockpit roll cage thing.

    Are your Dark Eldar just going to be using the red colour scheme or are you making up a new one?

    They will be black/red, like this;

    The photo is from GDUK

    I was playing around with the idea of making them all red, but I think this looks much sinister and "fast"

    Great conversion! That alone is worth 5 stars! It just needs some Dark Eldar bits to set it off a little more. About time the new models become available! The colour scheme looks pretty awesome, too. Looking forward to seeing more of this!

    Re: Alphachicken's Dark Eldar

    That is a very evil colour scheme, I can see why the GW team picked it. Your other stuff looks great so I'm sure you can pull it off.

    Re: Alphachicken's Dark Eldar

    Thats some really nice work there! I like the choice of colour scheme too, and this is one of the one's I'm debating. I've got a Vyper on the way with my first Raider, to kitbash together to make something like this. Your plasticard has turned out really nicely. I'd suggest grabbing some spare bits off the new Raider sprues to "Dark" it up a bit - there's lots of extra chains, spikes, and blades on it that would serve you well. Are you going to model some guys on the back of it as well?

    Great work, can't wait to see how this progresses!

    Looking at it now, I think a few more lines, similar to the front of the canopy, over the back would break up the blank sides. Good choice on the paint scheme, I think a lighter metal colour could help.

    That is actually a good idea, I might do more lines to the cart like you say, it would make it a whole. thanks!
