After looking at quite a few of these project, some are awe-inspiring and I wanted to create my own.

I have a number or armies to complete and I have almost finished my chaos army ready for a tournament coming up next week, I feel some of it is slightly rushed but it has come out relatively well considering my lack of painting skill. Here is where I am so far...

Next on my to do list is my war-shrine, I'm happy enough with the conversion and is my first attempt at converting on this scale, not including the great weapons on my marauders.

Not bad, personally I think your base could use a little work, your Valkia looks interesting, I have given you a 5 counter that 1, with the current edition in mind I would be use trolls over ogres.

I used the dark elf sorceress on cold one body.

Troll will be my next project after these, I have some river trolls on there way, I want to have 12 trolls plus Throgg, although I'm not sure how I'll do my Throgg yet, plus dragon ogres; converted from iron guts/cold ones, and a shaggoth, which again I'm not sure what I'm going to use, possibly a tyrant + carnisaur, although it might look quite bland in comparison.

I have used ogres in a few battles and they have been quite useful in most, breaking large blocks of HE spearmen and Empire guys. But I do like the idea of lots of rolls on eye of gods table for the trolls ^^.

Edit: Ah and yes the bases aren't finished yet need to add some snow and tidy them up a bit

    Re: Two Damsels one Chalice.

What I would suggest for you bases is a black wash over them, in future I would wipe nearly all the paint of the brushes and gently dry brush them, it looks a lot better. I had the same thing pointed out to me and it does make a massive difference, in all honestly I wish I had used resin bases for my WoC army just to make the models stand out a lot more, the only issue is obviously the cost

I can see how ogres could be good but in fairness the stats difference isn't all that major, even with great weapons and you are always going to be getting that 4+ save against attacks (apart for the obvious). If you are using them against a T3 5+ save model, S5 is no different to S6, they also work out cheaper than ogres with Chaos armour and great weapons. The main difference is as you pointed out the mutant regen, rolling +1T, +1A can make a massive difference to a combat. I think also you have some great modelling opportunities with chaos trolls,

Rushed or no, I think you have done a great job on your army. I like the scheme, and I dig your Chaos Ogres, a lot of character there.

    Re: Two Damsels one Chalice.

    Update:
I've been doing some rearranging and have sold of my High elves and found the love for short stumpy fat dudes, so I'll be including those here soon.

I'll update with pics later but this is what I've been up to.

    Chaos:
Almost finished 2 unit fillers and a few additional semi-converted beast men to join my marauder great weapon unit to make it up to 40.

I've started on the trolls, finished a couple and I probably be concentrating on those and the marauders so I can add them to my tourney list for end of Jan. I'm also needing to finish, or should I say start, some marauder horsemen and hounds for same reason.

I redid all the snow on the bases of all my chaos with a little tip I picked up, although I think they look much better, there is probably room for improvement later.

Great conversions here! Scales on dragon ogres are much better than what I came up with. Have you finished Valakia yet? She looks like an interesting converting project.

Your dragon ogres look better than the GW ones for sure!!!

they have more pleasing proportions. very nice!

you use cold ones and plastic ogres? anything else? I would love to try my hand at that conversion,
    mimicery the greatest compliment no?

I redid the scales as they looked a bit naff, they're much better now IMO I post a pic of the progress of them tonight.

I used the lizard men cold ones and ironguts as they come with great weapons. I copied it from someone else so give it a go a lot of green stuffing will be required though to make them blend together well.

Nice looking army. Coming along very well. Nice conversions for the dragon ogres. Look forward to seeing how your dragon ogres turn out when painted.

    Re: Fubar's Fantasy Painting log

Update: I have been getting prepared for upcoming tournament, by making sure I have a list I'm happy with and that I have all the models ready, here's my progress so far.

    Trolls:

I've finished 8 trolls all that remains is painting the bases and putting some snow on them, I think I'll try a different formula this time for the snow, as although it was much better that the first attempt I'm still not entirely happy with it.

    Marauders:
I have 31 marauders finished already but I need to make t up to 40, so I have my unit filler and 5 more I need to complete, I have a couple of extras which I'll do now. I also thought I'd whack troll arms/weapon to one of the beast models to create a more unique champion, which I think looks pretty cool already
The reason there are beast men in there too is I had some left over from when I used a pair of their legs for creating Valkia, but I think it will look quite good whe. There all mixed in the the rest and the unit filler.

    Wolves:

Base coated, based and a little colour added in the hope to prompt me to continue with them.
As a side note I must remember to do bases before I start painting so I don't have to paint the bases after I've finished the model, it's a royal pain in the butt having to do it afterwards><

    Marauder horsemen:
The last unit being added to my army, base coated and based(yey) and ready to paint. I saw from a couple of plogs, people were base coating it black then dusting it with White, I thought I'd give it a go on this unit to see if it helps at all.

So that's where I'm at, at the mo, I still have a few more things I'll be continuing with at a later date, dragon ogres, a shaggoth, Valkia conversion, a few more trolls and I still need some inspiration for a Throgg conversion. I'll also start adding my dwarfs to this plog when I start painting them.

    Comments, suggestions welcome.

How about some more shots of that warshrine? It looks like its an ethereal ghost shrine which is real cool. I'm thinking maybe if the whole thing was painted like that blue it would be even cooler, including the warrior.
