These are both legitimate concerns and if that is how you feel I invite you to please post as such on the DC(in the suggestions and feedback section) or to PM me if you prefer. With examples if you can.

Sky and I stand behind our moderators and the job they are doing, but if you feel that they can do it in better fashion then I am all ears.

I run the day to day operations and with the exception of this weekend because I will be away for a GT I get on the boards at least once a day so I'll be around to read and respond to your concerns.

I did, in early August. My concerns went unadressed. Seems like the one around a staff member ripping someone off in a trade has been getting the same treatment.

Now, I never considered the Razorwing can-opener + meat-mincer in one to be a viable tactic, yet several of you seem to have had success with it. What have I been missing?

And sorry I'm OT, Symriven's right.

Lets keep any Dark City discussions to the Dark City and not this tactics tread.

Personally I'm not to fond of units with dual roles that are not compatible, because when you are doing one thing you arent doing the other, while you still pay points for that.
For the flyers this is different. Only the first turn (when you unleash all or most missiles) are they anti infantry, the turns after that they are basically anti armour. Furthermore the ability to whipe out or at least cripple any one footslogging unit at the start of a battle is great.

Yeah, that's been my reasoning as well. Which - alpha strike + more clearly defined secondary role - is why I'm holding out for a voidraven or two, even if points-wise it's a fairly sizeable investment.

Did you come to me? No. Did you follow up on your unopened PM to Sky? No.

I know just about everything that goes on @ the DC. And I don't recall there ever being an issue with you. And looking at the moderation reports you've never been written up. So whats the deal.

Come to me and we can talk.

The ripping issue is and was being dealt with and can be discussed on the DC.

Sorry for the OT but this is an important subject to me.

So whats everyone's opinion of the Talos? Is it worth it to have? I already have 2-3 Ravagers and a Razorwing. I was just wondering if the Talos needs to be played in pairs to be effective etc. of if they are viable as a one off type thing. Thanks for any comments and or opinions.

If you're running a fun list, the Talos ideally needs a WWP as it's slooooow. Running them in pairs is good, but don't have them stick together. They rip through stuff pretty quick that having two working in tandem is overkill to the point of detrimenting their potential effectiveness.

In comp lists, they don't exist.

I feel much better about my purchase of this model. Still probly a little over costed, but a really fun gun.
Agree about the cost issue, but I have just finished kit-bashing one and am really looking forward to trying it on the tabletop. Nice to hear that it has improved somewhat, thanks for the specifics Hovey.

I agree completely about dual-role units, but I usually run my Razorwing with FF, Dissies, Cannon and two Monoscythe and two Shatterfield. And I have to say, like SpeedFreek mentioned earlier, it's been great against both infantry and armour. Sometimes the armour gets hit as a result from scatter, but I also don't hesitate to target it directly if the situation warrants it.

I have also held on to some missiles until late in the game, ripping an entire SW until on Turn 5 on one occasion.

I love the Razorwing, and can't wait to get my Voidraven on the table as well.

I often throw a couple Talos' in my list if I know the mission and it involves one or more objectives near the center of the table. I never take them in general army lists.

Not sure where all the hate for dual-role units comes from. There are certainly some bad dual-role units, tactical marines for example, but razorwings are an example of a good one.

There is no law that states you must take ravagers for tanks and venoms for infantry. An army with razorwings and raiders spreads it's AT around without losing shots overall. Plus the razorwing can wipe out a MEQ squad in a single volley - anywhere on the board.

I honestly don't know if this aproach is better. I just have a feeling that the traditional list does ok without being spectacular. It competes but doesn't win tournaments much. When you can go no further, change.

Personally, I don't hate dual-role at all, but I do find that I have more success (and often save some points) concentrating on one primary role for each unit.

The Razorwing is an outstanding dual-role platform in every respect. I just prefer Dissies on it along with the cannon and missiles for the extra volume of shots over the higher strength of the DL's.

But I don't care about a competitive list much, I just play whatever I feel like playing.

I run a coven list with 3 x talos if I ever get a chance to play DE these days. A great unit if you can split consentrated fire up between a few high toughness units like Grotz or wracks. I honestly don't thing you need a spam Talos, I actually think 2 x Talos + 1 x P.E. is most likely a better choice, since a TP on a Talos is awesome.

A really good multi-task unit, O.K. at knocking out transports when coming out of a WWP, great at supporting combat, not so great at protracted combats.

Talos are really solid once they get a PT on them. The issue is getting that token pretty quickly or they might have trouble with things like missile spam for example.

I'm playing mine with flails, ccw, TL.Heat lance.
    .......... alittle more ....... a little more.

Cool thanks guys. I like to have options and the model is cool as hell so I was thinking of investing in 1.

Re: Dark Eldar (DE) Strategy Guide 5th

I got an idea for a trick that I call "Dance the Penetrata"

You have like, A unit of 10 harlequins. All with Kisses, even the leader has a kiss.

And you have like first turn.

And you have an empty raider with its side to the line waiting for a pivot.

And the harlequins are like 2" away.

And they embark, and you pivot, and move the raider 12" (total 15") and hopefully, there's a piece of terrain in the middle of the board to hide behind.

And you disembark the harlies 2"

And then you fleet with the harlies.

And then, placing each harlequins as far from each other as possible, you multi-assault an imperial guard parking lot, getting contact with as many chimeras as possible.

And since it's first turn, you auto-hit with 41 st4 rending attacks. And since it's close combat, they're AV10, And since you're rending, it'll be 6,8 penetrating hits.

An then, Hit and run if necessary.

Harlequins? More like Harle-WIN-s! ( I want to see your Incubi pull of something like that!)

You have a LOT of if's and likes there to make that happen. And you are also assuming that the opponet is going to allow his chimera's to be on the line for you to get that close to.

I also believe, but i could be wrong, That you cannot embark and disembark in the same turn.

    This.

First turn charges are occasionally possible, but not easy. Actually wyches with haywire would do a similar job I think and could legally begin the game in their own transport.

I think tech priest is right. I'm sure you can embark and assault from an open topped vehicle in the same turn, but not embark and disembark. Otherwise dark eldar would be doing a lot more first turn assaults. Also, the cries of cheese would drown out all other communication in the internet .
