well ive decided to do a new project log containing models ive painted that dont belong in my other logs. this will be a slow log painting individual minatures between painting units for my two armies. first up will be the contents of iob.

first a sword master of hoeth. nust be a painful occupation as this guy i noticed while painting has a badly dislocated right wrist.

This is one of those paintjobs that looks better the more I look at it. I love the checkered pattern, it works REALLY well on this model, and the blueish sheen on the armour makes for a very magical effect. The green gems totally finish the model up.

Only thing, I would give the hairband thingy a different colour from the hair.

Hmmm.... I already told you I think they look great, and I really do think that, but I feel like I have to point out something.

The pouches really shouldn't be purple... Just paint them brown. It will make the remaining purple bits all the more striking.

cant say that i agree with having brown pouches enhancing the purple i think they may be more distracting.
ive taken a break from the warroirs of hoeth and a reward for having done 50 o and g troops, so ive started the prince on griffon the prince is done, the griffon i am planning on doing based on the hobby hawk for the bird parts and clouded leopard for the big cat parts. i think this may work well as i can match the colours between the two distinctive areas so that they merge making a more singular looking animal.

I like the metal coulour on the swordmasters, it seems like a gleaming blue-steel. what's the trick?

the blue metal was dilerberate to give it a magical sheen. it is also very simple, boltgun base, a couple of asurman blue washes making it quite heavy in recesses and areas of shade, then lightly build up with a couple of thin layers of chainmail and mithrel.

been a while since i painted anything that isnt orc or eldar, but i just had to do this. though i would like advice on how to do directional lighting effects since there is such an obvious light source on this miniture.
