    Tale of some epic gamers.

Ok people the time is upon us to start this painting log.

    Final rule set:

250 points a month ( this maybe +- 20 points so from 230 to 270, upgrades for both units and characters count, magic items/banner do not.)

Month 1 begins now and will come to a close on the November 30.

You have 1 joker every 3 months people .

Your first post should introduce yourselves and the project you are working on.
Feel free to also post anything else you paint!

I will post my first minis tomorrow as tonight is kind of cheating.
Will also post a list of the people in this once they make a post as final confirmation that they will take part.

I will be working on my Empire, this will be my third Empire army after having sold my previous two ( one for each previous Empire army book), this time its Hockland for me!.

    Nagash66-Empire.
    Jind_Singh- Orcs and Goblins.

Re: Tale of some epic gamers.

Well I am going to commit to....

    40K: Ultramarines
    Warhammer: Orcs & Goblins

I started the Greenskins a while back but never got round to finishing them - this will give me the boost I need to get them looking tournament ready, especially since I have been using them a lot recently.

    My first 500 points:

Night Goblin Big Boss, Giant Squig
30 Night Goblin Spears, full command, netters, 1 fanatic
20 Night Goblin Archers, full command, netters, 1 fanatic
    5 Night Goblin Squig Hoppers

All of the above are already base coated, hence I am going for such a big lot for the 1st month, but they will (hopefully) give me the push I need to get the army going again!

For 40K it's a single Scout squad - 2 shotguns, 2 extra combat weapons, sarge with chainsword

Hello one and all, the pink terror rises once more!
    ...
    ....
    .....
That is to say that I will be working on my Cult of Slaanesh Dark Elves.
The first things that I'll be painting will be my unit of 10 Cold One Knights with Full Command. I will also be painting up some Heroquest models to use as characters in my army so that the older gamers can start feeling the tingle of nostalgia!

The max is 270pts? Don't get me wrong, this sounds like a great project but isn't the idea of a maximum a tad silly? For example, now I can't work on my Dark Elf Dragon for this project. (Actually, while we are on the subject 10 Cold One Knights with Full Command is over 270pts aswell...)

Wouldn't we be better off setting 250pts per-month as a target with anything over that ignored?

My name is Draconian77 and I like to quibble.
In terms of actual painting skills, well, let's just say that I won't be winning any Golden Daemons in my lifetime...

Well, yes, but Cold One Knights are more like 20 models when you think about it, 10 Cold Ones and 10 Riders...

So how does this work, do we just put up pictures at any point in time? It should be noted that my camera work is as "good" as my painting. (You should get the excuses up nice and early I reckon!)

Hello everyone. I'll be painting a Skaven army. I fell in love with the guys at first sight waaaay back in the late 90's, but the clanrats were too hideous to buy a bunch of them. The new ones are beautiful and I've decided to paint up an army full of them.

This first month is going to be a big unit of clanrats and a weapons team.

The max is for you HAVE to do per month, after that you do all you want, the reason we have a max is so one cant do 500 points and claim 2 months worts, its 230-270 per months...plus what you want.

You can post pic of the models at any point at any time, you want to do it piece by piece or just the finished version makes no difference to me.

i suggest for those that want to show progress pictures and stuff, to create their own topic for it so this one doesn't get cluttered, and to only show finished pictures here.

I'm on board with this too and although I am a truly poor painter (and as such won't post seeking admiration) I will gladly use the postings as a tool to ensure that I stay on track with myself. I DO look forward to seeing what great paintings you all have as well.

My army choice (I changed my mind from earlier): Beastmen

Yup, I will be starting am almost brand new Beastmen army from scratch that I'll submit as my part of the project. Obviously I'll have to acquire more models for the 300 point increments after the first month or two but that's part of the fun-- but for now I have an old giant and two boxes of the combined, older Beast herds that I can mingle into new Gor and Ungor units hopefully.

Quick question: I am also currently constructing a large underground terrain board, with interchangeable tiles. How many points would painting one 2' x 4' board be worth?

    Hi all. Ludovic here!

Well, I'll be trying to build up an Empire army (I did say try), not sure from where though...

My painting skills aren't the best and I paint very slowly (not much time + I don't like rushing) and this is my first WFB army.

I'll try and get some models ASAP and the army book (it would help, wouldn't it?)

    Cheers,

    Ludovic

Re: Tale of some epic gamers.

    Morning all.
I'm going to go completely against my original ideas (and somewhat against my own better judgement) and go for some High Elves, starting with Island of Blood and moving on from there.
Most of my models wind up being painted dark colours so High Elves will be an interesting new challenge, adding to that I've always wanted to, but never managed to brave painting white.
Hoping for this month (Shouldn't be too hard to do - but I do paint pretty slowly...)
    10 Seaguard + command
    1 Mage

    For around 255ish.

I would argue for the opposite, people are here because they need a little willpower boost to paint, the conversasion over how something looks, advice on how to imporve things, etc will be a great boon in the fight to paint tons of minis.

So feel free to post work in the making just try not to go overboard on pics.

Thats great man, beastmen are a fun army to do lots of chances to go crazy with the models.

I will give you 200 points for it.

The isle of blood models are rather great and once you factor in the savings there awesome.

    Hello all.

I'll be doing Chaos Dwarfs using the ravening horde list.

I'll be as faithful to it as I can with models but likely will end up doing a little conversion too.

Not sure what units I'll be doing this month just yet, I need to sit down with a cup of tea and think on that!

Like Jind I'll also be doing a little 40k if that's alright!?

A tactical squad for my homebrew Space Marine Chapter.

I'll post detail on my first 250 hopefully tomorrow.

    Thanks all and good luck!

Hmm, well...I found my camera but I didn't find the bit that lets me connect it to my computer so no pictures as planned I'm afraid. Let the search for the never-before-used bit begin!
