    Re: AoW plastic Dwarf Berserkers

GW's dwarfs are as short as their halfling models...

The ideal dwarf height for me is 4' 6" to 5', so basically one head shorter than a human. But 1.5x as wide at the shoulders.

Can we please keep this thread on-topic, ie we are discussing the Dwarf Beserker Preview, not the other minis which may or not be coming from AoW in plastic next or in the future.

You have to sacrific detail when you are putting together parts that can be intermixed for a unit.

Personally I've been waiting for plastic slayers and I would buy these up in a second.

OMG! Those are just wonderful. Do we know when these will be coming out yet or at least an approx date?

Fantastic models! All sort of variety in poses is exactly what slayers/berzerkers need to show their wild temper. I hope it includes some different weapon choices too...

You guys think this might speed up a GW plastic multipart kit for Slayers?

OK speculation aside (sorry Wintermute!) I think there is enough detail to make for a fantastic looking ranked unit. I hope there are options for command but if not it's just an excuse to get creative. I hope the release date is announced soon, I can't wait to get my hands on some of these guys. The multi-part/pose potential is going to make for some nice variety in units!

Tempted by those for sure, my Dwarves from the old Starter box have been pretty lonely for a long time, a few boxes of these plus the slayer King could get them back on track.

I'm not a fan of too much detail on rank and file models other than the command models. These guys detail levels look just right for batch painting IMO.

Yeah I was just thinking to myself "Airbrush Tallarn Flesh and go to town!"

These guys could be the one exception to my all metal classic Marauder/Citadel Dwarf army.

I dunno if people are looking at the same pic as I am. Most of the details aren't bad, but the overall effect is awkward. This one looks like it's got no arm joints, particularly the shoulders. Where are the shoulders? The arms look like rigid objects attached to the sides of the ribcage, spreadeagled like a Macy's Day balloon. Or some other kind of inflatable figure...
And the muscular detail looks like lines etched into a barrel.

No way these are better than Mantic's berserkers, unless by 'better' you mean 'more of a rip-off of GW's trollslayers'.

I wasn't as impressed until I saw the video, its much better than the pic. And I for one, will bet that Mantic will be kicking themselves once they see how well a high quality box of plastic slayers sells. I still can't believe they made such a surefire hit metal...

Well, if the Revenant Knights are any indication, Mantic has a way around that metal issue now.

I have a couple gripes with the AoW stuff overall, but none of them major. Plastic dwarf berserkers though are a good kit. It certainly makes an all-berserker army far more feasible. Plus, I like how he kept it very multi-posable. I'm still surprised he went with these as his first release though, but I hope he does well.

They look pretty nice, I am not a fan of how wide they are, not sure if its just me. The legs seems a little off too, but this could just be the video. Of course this is good for the first mass production of AoW.

Well, of course they do! There are knees in them!

I've sent Felix a pm on his forum asking if he would consider making a chaos dwarf upgrade set for the slayers. All he'd need are torso/head and hands and they'd look very close to the hellcannon crew models. Much better for people who want this look than the big hat warhammer forge models.
