Mirbeau's Great Spangled Fritillary - Island Of Blood, High Elves, Wood Elves, whimsy

My aim with this log is to have a 3000 point Empire army painted to the best of my ability, a 3000 point High Elf army painted to a high gaming standard, a 2000 point Wood Elf army to a gaming standard, and ditto with Dark Elves. So just a bit then!

Along the way, doubtlessly indulging myself with any other minor pieces neccesary to hold my attention! Hopefully keeping this log with keep me organized and motivated, that remains to be seen...

I hope to update this fairly frequently, with pieces I see as being of importance to the armies - no-one really wants to see fourty plainly painted evlen spears I'm sure! And as soon as i can figure out how to resize images my first pieces will be going up...

If anyone wants to know any of my paint-schemes (or more pictures/different angles) don't hesitate to ask, though they are often quite convulted (I often have to mix a lot due to having a very limited amount of paint) and my memory isn't all that....

My test piece for the High Elves - the elf ranger from Warhammer Quest. It's largely a repaint of someone elses (ebay) work, didn't need a lot doing as the original painter had done a largely fine job.

It's only alright mind, the skin, gems and metal in particular need work, but thats what a test is for!

Thank you very much. Aiming to have them done in about two weeks, but did paint a tester today - though to a much lower standard than the high elves. It only took about half an hour with shading and highlighting! It needs eyes, some tidying and something else... Enjoyed painting this, you can paint them quite grittily for an elven model, and do some speckling and blends.

Thanks, I've been enjoying yr Chaos Warriors for some time, I really ought to have subscribed by now.

Today I've done more on the seaguard, got past a barrier and am quite enjoying them now. The pictures below show three stages of progress. I've also made some headway into the new althran on foot, two stages shown below. Quite lot to do yet mind.

Swordmasters done, and the Seaguard are close. I've already let the standard of painting slip mind, but I'd rather get them done to an acceptable level and go back later on - I intend to get all the H.Es in the box done by next week. The Blademaster's eyes aren't coming through in the pic but i'm pleased with everything thus far.

I also knocked up a tiny bit of of scenery and old h.es (as statues) for my I.O.B battlefield - Just a quick (dheneb stone, flesh wash, dheneb stone, white highlights) job but it looks alright. Below is also all my modelling equipment, I'm painting everything with a standard brush, just to be difficult.

I've done an awful lot this week, the high elves are done (besides althran on foot), and I've made some headway into the skaven, as well as into lots of little other bits.

The ellyrian reavers need a lot more work, the spell-singer too, the woods are wip, though what is within isn't, and is a hint of things to come...

This week - the skaven are very near complete.

Some orcs from the 6th ed box have been started (which means since august i've painted minatures from every single warhammer starter box, bizarre) as has the WQ Orc king (though the photo is terrible).

Felix Jaeger's on the way too, re-reading Troll Slayer on an afternoon got me in the mood.

I also bought some white lions and arcane ruins... And though this is a fantasy blog, started a squad of blood angels. They likely won't become an army so will be confined to the occasional post in here.

Cheers fella, sorry for the LONG delay in replying. I'll try and figure that. I shall be very belatedly updating this in the week, with the remainder of the elves and rats, and a fledgling Ostermark force.
