    The Kabal of Eternal Anguish

Oh look another Dark Eldar log!

Yes, I too have started a Dark Eldar army. They were my first army back when they came in the 3rd edition starter set. I loved the models and was captivated with 40k as my older brother was into the game and I thought it was really cool. Flash forward 8 years and here we are.

Now to the army. First I decided on a color scheme, I knew from the start that I wanted to do a mid-night blue color scheme, so the main armor will be necron abyss followed up with some sharp highlights of necron abyss mixed with fortress grey, and then the sharp highlights of pure fortress. The compliment colors will be either, red/green/yellow.

I decided to make this my first army where I really focused on the bases, and I've always wanted to do a city fight theme and I found this to be the perfect opportunity.

Enough with the talk, here are some pictures to get it started.

Not the best pictures but there will be better ones once I get some paint on them. Riders on the raider will be added later on. I plan on having some fun with the reaver and other raider bases. I'm planning on 6-7 raiders and 2 Ravagers in the army.

Cheers, Let me know what you think. I should have test model up mid week.

Ooh that's Raider's base is nifty, I love it when people do thins like that with flying bases.

In fact, all the bases are great, should look a treat when they are all painted up.

Cracking stuff! I read somewhere thats its a good idea to use several grades of rubble on bases, so you may want to consider that. Are you pinning that guard figure? I reckon the base looks a little odd otherwise.

The base of the Raider is something.. more.. "Michael Bay-ish" then other clear, boring flyer bases. It's pure win dipped in awesomesauce! I can't help it, but I've never cared for Dark Eldar models.. they were always so.. shallow and.. boring compared to their own fluff. But you, good sir, have expertly captured the menacing, plain evilness I am used to read about with these new, shiny models.

sweet! its this sort of thing that makes me think I ought to start again with a new DE force completely and not just add to mine...

nice basing and posing on the warriors. base on the Raider is sweet! I like the use of the domed helmet on the Sybarite. I love them myself.

Re: The Kabal of Eternal Anguish

And here is the test model!

I'm pretty happy with how he came out. Half way through painting he fell of the table breaking both arms off, I then preceded to back out of my chair which ran over the model breaking his head off and a few spikes. I think it was the Dark Eldar way of introducing me to emotional pain. Ultimate facepalm moment, but I think I saved him.

The highlights were a bit tricky but I think they will become easier with practice.

I really like the base on the raider/ravager. It feels like its 'floating past' gracefully rather than just hovering in the middle of nowhere. Good work.

Re: The Kabal of Eternal Anguish

    Wow, Laughing God.

    You've improved alot!

These models look very nice. Almost convinced me to get back into 40k with Dark Eldar! Where'd the column on the base come from?

The only thing that bothers me is the color you picked for the talbred. I think it should look more brown. If you're going to a peice of flesh, it looks a little too pink/alive. The pink doesn't work completely well with the other colors you picked. I'm sure you'll figure something out.

    Other than that, great work!

love the test model mate, the detail is very crisp looking, might jump on the dark eldar band wagon at one point how are they to build and paint out of curiosity?

Very promising army, such a good test model makes sure a raider will look amazing, I can only imagine how cool an entire army will look.

These very bright highlights combined with dark parts really make these new models look extremely awesome.

Re: The Kabal of Eternal Anguish

Thanks for all the encouraging words guys. Sorry I haven't updated yet, I plan to change that in the near future.

I painted up the squads sybarite because he just looked so cool.

I'm now assembly line painting the rest of the warriors. They're pretty simple, being mostly armor, however getting those highlights right are a pain.

Now let's see if I can get the rest of the squad done by next weekend so I can start on the raider.

    Cheers,

@Lazuli, the columns are from a local hobby store. I have some plans for them in the future. The skin in that picture looks a lot more pinkish than in real life. Hopefully the pics above show it better.
