Sculpt log (new AOW lizardman head)

First off sorry for closing the last thread, it was getting a bit cluttered in there and I had been getting lazy with sculpting...

So this one is pretty much a continuation of the last thread with a few exceptions:

    What's new
I'll be putting all sorts in here, personal pieces, miniatures from troll forged, the next AOW piece (nothing 100% sorted here, Felix has asked about a Lizardman BSB, so I'll see what I can come up with and more importantly if it's to the standard he is looking for).

    What has changed?
So in this thread you can expect to see more futuristic pieces from me (I'm drifting to more sci-fi and 40K minis). This includes the sister of battle Seraphim that I've nearly finished, my second howling Banshee sculpt (see below) and the completion of the Pariah.

    Revisting older sculpts
However I am using this thread of make some changes and even do revisits to old sculpts. I have already began to change my Vampiress as I was never happy with her pose and I am sculpting my second version of Lord Kroak from the Mark Gibbons artwork.

    The batting order.....
At the moment this is the list of things you can expect.
    The Vampiress changes
The sister of battle Serpahim finished
    The Pariah finished
Starting work on the next Troll forged Ganger.

After that I'll be adding in bits and pieces, most likely work for the lizardman (tempted to try a mounted version too) and the new howling Banshee (which Eldargal has very kindly offered to help me with I found some of Jes' artwork for a helmetless Banshee so will be using that (I will however exaggerate the pose). You can also expect to see me attempt a Wych sculpt too.

    Any questions, just ask.

    And finally
Please, please, please, do not ask me to cast anything which is IP protected, you can land the board in serious trouble just by asking.

Re: The brand new sculpt log

To get things moving here's a few of the pieces to be completed.

First off the Pariah, he's in the same scale as the current Pariah minis and ever since seeing the artwork in the necron codex I've always wanted to sculpt one.

Next up is Monique De noir.
    Here's the old shot,

What I've done is to move her sword arm so it's in line with her shoulder and the blade is pointing backwards behind her. The trouble with the old pose is that her arm positioning was too bland, it didn't fit in with the sense of movement with the rest of the body. I've also removed her axe and given her a shield instead, photos soo to follow.

Lastly here is my sister of battle Seraphim, again as with the Pariah she is in scale with the curretn sisters of battle, I've made some changes since this photo was taken, including sorting out the details on the bolt pistol. All I have to finish now is her jump pack whic is about 50% complete.

You are good! You are REALLY good! That Pariah reminds me of that Eberron race, Warforged. Cool stuff.

EDIT: Oh, lol... It's Rikard... I thought you were someone new... My bad.

As usual, your models are great. I like specially the Pariah, the GW models look too rude, yours more organic (and I think that´s the idea)

A small update (there will be more later on).

Banshee head mark 2, hopefully everyone likes it.

EDIT: Will be re-correcting the eyes.

The eyes do look a bit bulbous, but its still very good.

Re: The brand new sculpt log

Thanks for the comments and helpful advice.

Work is killing me at the moment (loving the early morning shifts).

Just got the one image at the moment (though I've made more progress since it was taken). It's a teaser for the Kroak sculpt I'm working on.

Sister of battle very nearly finished now (jump pack needs rivots on it and then attaching to her) and the vampire I've just finished this evening, photos soon to come.

Glad to hear it, old school Kroak is my fav piece of MG artwork of all time.

    Here's the Vamp as promised.

I sorted out her arms pose as they didn't match the body, too clunky, too clumsy, too in the way, too bland and not enough character.

I wanted to help build the feel of flow, ease and general close combat nastiness, so I looked at the mirror sword options on the howling banshee exarch and used a similar pose. This also makes ranking up so much easier.

The shield is held in place by blue tac, I still haven't decided how she should hold it.

Is it possible to turn the sword 180°?
    It would look better IMHO
    will the vamp ever cast?

You mean so that the blade is pointing forwards rather than behind her?

And no, please remember what I said in my first post, the IP belongs to reaper miniatures, this piece cannot legally be cast and I have no intention of trying to. Besides which casting this piece would be a nightmare, there's just too many air spaces and gaps.

I will be using her in my VC army though.

    @Gonfrask
    What's not to like?
That artwork is iconic, it has the perfect blend of the Ican/Aztec/Mayan styles and feel to it as well as some the 5th ed Lizardman feel.

    @Eldargal
Thank you very much, I really love the combination fo the different cultures that have gone into Mark's artwork so I hope I do it justice.
I'm glad you like the Vamp too, ironically I hate sculpting boobs, big boobs are worse, they ruin any sort of sleak, cat like or even character of a piece, turning it into what can only be described as a wet dream sculpt.

    @Verm1s
Anything you'd advise me relooking at?
I had a quick look at Mini sculpture, definitely some names I recognize, I'm sure I've seen you about on troll forged before (or am I gettign confused?)

I'm tempted to leave it as it is. sticking forward creates a few issues such as ranking up. I also prefer poses where the action is either at the start or the end of the movement, inbetween tends to look awakard (for example, think of a great weapon in mid swing from over head).

Not especially. I've kind of trained myself to be too hypercritical (like Simon Cowell with OCD), and I regret shooting my mouth off. Apologies!

Yup! Not often, but sometimes. I sculpted the halfling they recently released.

You make Necrons look good, truly miraculous.

    The Seraphim is fantastic.
