Looks good Rikard.
Are you still planning on doing a second head? If so, do you normally sculpt the full body then cut off the head and sculpt a replacement.
HN
I'm going to try for some better photos today of the first finished head.
I was thinking about a Spinosaur style head, but I think the problem there is it's not as bulky (I.E more fitting for a big power housed creature).
If you think it could work I will work on one though.
I always start with the head and then sculpt everything else though so making a replacement will be easy.

What about an Ankylosaurus head? It looks bige and heavy, even dumb

I think a Spinosaur head could work, just look at the Beloved of Sobek from Crocodile Games.

Closed mouth could work, would look very focused rather than as a roaring death-machine.
HN
I second the closed mouth secondary head,
for more of a silent glaring intensity.
Thanks for the feed back.
I'm working on improving a couple of the teeth at the moment and then straight in to the rest of the body and the weapon.
Once I've got the initial model finished I'll then be making other options such as the closed mouth head, hopefully this will help give people a clearer picture as to what other options will look like on the finished piece.

Wow, great sculpting. And it is very interesting to see how long it actually takes to do such wonderful work stage by stage.
I just checked the picture of the AoW Lizardmen hero and think you should definitely stay in style but second the option for a closed mouth as it is different and can be more threatening with the right pose.
I love the small powerfist, very subtle and refreshing; it doesn't look too heavy to use!
The Lizardman is looking good, I really like the spiny detail around the eyes and head. The head looks better proportioned with the neck.

Thanks HN and Little Joe,
I'll post more pics when the basic layer of the entire torso is done, I'm working on getting the thickness right first (when it gets cast it ends up becoming thinner).
I'll then be looking at additional detail to cover over that.
On another note I've got my new Necron codex finally and need some help putting together a good list.
I'm going to scratch build my overlord and was wondering what kit I should give him (especially as it means I have to sculpt it on him).

Yea pretty sure this Is my favorite Saurus head so far.![]()
Been a while but here's some heavily updated shots.
I'm working on more scales, especially along the tail, I have also done my best to design some very different looking club like tail end. I will be adding some more spikes to the arms too as well as some armour and decorations.
The legs at the armature scale had to be removed as they made the tail too thin to where it connected to the upper body, but I will be adding legs soon.
any more suggestions or if clearer photos are needed, just ask.

Whoa he is heavily armoured. He looks good so far though obviously a little odd without legs and hands.
Kinda reminds me of the Black Knight from Holy Grail..."Its only a flesh wound!"
HN
I love it, it is bulky, spiky and dynamic. Will it get some armbands and a necklace?
As someone who is just trying his first full miniature may I ask how many breaks you take in the process to let it set? Currently I am working with more is better, but I fear the whole project will take very long this way.
Yeah, I always build up the initial layers first and then go over the top, so things like scales and spikes and then bracers, bands and armour.
At this stage I am just open for links or even sketches and ideas for what to give him.
I tend to break whenever I need it, get a layer done, wait for it to dry then tackle the next stage, that's the way I work.
@Hairy Norseman, yeah I really should sort out my armatures as I don't think I've had a single one where i haven't ending up changing or chopping parts.
I'll add in the hands when the weapon is sculpted.

Wow I really like the back scales on this one Rikard.
I think some scales on the thighs might work, but armor wouldn't be bad either.
