Thanks for the shouts of encouragement.

I've not done much at all unfortunately, I've been ill for about a month now, I managed to get one nasty illness followed by another.

hopefully I will be better soon and then can keep on sculpting.

The banshee is coming out really nice. Excellent work, all through the log.

Maybe you can give me a few hints on how to work with Green Stuff? I'm most comfortable working with metal and glue, but I want to mix and match more, and will surely need to get my hands dirty in some sculpting. If possible I will probably opt for the lazy alternatives given the chance, and try to find pieces that fit well with the goals of my conversion.

What tools do you prefer for shaping? Got any valid pointers for a pure beginner?

Here are some ideas of mine.

I think the best thing would be to pick up some clay shapers and start off with conversions on minis, nothing major just little bits here and there. As your confidence grows so too will your skills in which case make the conversions bigger and grander until you end up scrapping and re-sculpting at least half a mini.

Re: The brand new sculpt log

    Small update,

I had to remove the entire right leg and resculpt it, finished both feet too and have begun work on the weapon and on the decorations and leg guards.

Hope you like it, suggestions as always, are welcome, if you want to see certain ideas make it to this piece, now is the time. Once this piece is cast though I will be hanging up my sculpting gloves though and no longer will be working on cast pieces, only private ones. This is due to a number of reasons, but the primary one being that updates to my thread have become too long and I know it must get frustrating/annoying.

    He's looking good mate!

Just as long as we get to see your sculpting. Don't worry about slow updates, some things are worth waiting for

Well the sculpting is exceptionally good and thus slow updates are not a problem with me. I awe each and every time.
The legshield with spikes is great, it is great to add a different colour and keep the theme. It also gives a hint of civilisation because it is not broken which I rather like.

Sorry to hear about this being the last public one, but ultimately it is your choice. It was a great show so far.

    You're too patient

Doesn't look like i've done much but I completely removed and reworked the thigh guards, they just didn't fit, I am quite happy to get some more detailed shots of the thight guards if needs be, I don't think they show up at all well in this photo. There's still loads to be done and much of this weekend was spent adding scales, spikes and finishing work on the tail and new thigh guards.

This is the bare base for the great weapon head, I have spent ages filing it to the right size, now I just need to add details on top of this.

Also got the WIP of the head for Oxayotl done (still got chin spikes to do under the throat), for size reference I held a needle just above the head as I took the photos. Hoping to go for a GD piece with this.

Something fairly similar to the original artwork, but a bit more stretched out with the feet and in a tree, taking aim at a chaos maruader in a swamp below. Even thinking of making green stuff piranhas.

Sounds good, liking the piranha idea. I take it this is for the duel category.

I was thinking of diorama to be honest, as I already have an idea for a duel piece (sister of battle VS black legionnaire). I'll give you more details on that piece when I've finished these two...

    Here's another update for you,

At the moment I'm working on the decorations and bracelets on the Lizardman.

I've done the loin clothe too and am adding a few bits and pieces here and there still, but what I need now is some feedback. I've also included a side view photo of the thigh guards, I will be filling the space between them and his tail with some more spikes.

What would you like to see?

I've been thinking about adding some sort of Incan aztec light armour to hang down from the chest, something with small plates joined together, but not something which covers up all the muscles.

I've also thought of including a large demon like skull in the center of this, as well as some dinosaur bones and spikes

What do you all think? Do you like this idea or is there something else you would like me to add to the miniature? This is your chance to up forward your ideas and suggestions.

I've also included the armature work for Oxayotl, still keeping the pose consistent with what Mark Gibbons did way back in the 5th ed book, but have spaced out his legs, he will be mounted in a mangrove like tree and so altered his feet and tail to help give him balance. The blow pipe is almost finished, just need to add spikes to the strap and the tie on ends for the strap (not included yet which is why it looks a bit bland).

    The duel sounds coll too.

The Lizardman makes me think of this guy from Apocalypto. Perhaps something like an armoured collar, maybe daemon-hide to kinda complete a ring of spikes and thick armour around his neck. Not sure about a big skull as its kinda GWs default option if they want to add something but then it depends how you do it.

The dolly for Oxy-thingamajig is looking dynamic.

Good point, I've finished sculpting the demon skull so will include photos of it later, but I like the design of the neck crest on that bloke, I think it would work better than a semi-circular neck plate, mainly because of the height differences between the neck and where it meets the chest.

Will upload more photos when I've got that bit done.
