    Dystopian Wars.

So is anyone else excited about the new release from Spartan games. The same people who brought us Uncharted Seas and Firestorm Armada.

Their newest game coming out is called Dystopian wars and it looks to be a steam punk alternate WW2 naval land and air combat game. The first 4 factions are the Federated States of America, The Prussian Empire, Empire of the Blazing Sun, and the Kingdom of Britannia.

So far the models look really nice though I'm not the biggest fan of the Empire of the Blazing sun ships. I'm hoping the game will play much like Uncharted seas does.

Can't wait to get my hands on the rulebook for this one. Probably going to be getting the Britannia and Prussian starter boxes to test it out and see if my Buddy and I enjoy it as much as we do Uncharted seas.

and here is a link to spartan games dystopian wars section of their website for anyone who wants to check it out. http://www.spartangames.co.uk/dystopian_wars.html

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

There is a lot of excitement being generated around this game from my club members. The last time so many were anticipating a release was with Warmachine.

I hope i don't have to wait for a second wave of releases though, it sounds like the first lot are all pre booked already.
This is only from the very few traders my group use though and i may be well off mark.
Any how, roll on Nov 2?th.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

As soon as the game releases (November 24 from what Maelstrom said) I'll buy the Rulebook and a Kingdom of Britannia fleet. If the models are really as good as I expect then... then it's a good question as I'm torn apart on which fleet to get next.
I was thinking about the Rising Sun as I was not sold on the Prussian ships. But now that I've seen them painted they grew on me. I was disappointed with the FSA carrier until I realized it's actually 2 carriers in one. Still I'll probably go with the Prussian in the end just because their Zeppelin is so awesome.

So far the missing factions are:
    - Chinese Federation
    - Italian Free States
    - Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
    - Republic of France

Very interesting. The Prussian Empire looks amazing. But being chinese and seeing Archibald_TK's post. Will be edging and waiting to see the Chinese Federation.

Hmm going to probably end up picking up all the starter fleets for the factions at some point myself even though the models for the Empire of the Blazing sun don't do a whole lot for me.

I wasn't sure about the Britannian Carrier but the more I look at it the more it grows on me. It just look so big and intimidating. I just hope they have fixed their flying bases cause I know they were a royal pain in the **** for firestorm armada.

According to what we've been told on the spartan forums the first 4 factions being released will also be getting land forces sometime in December.

After that the League of Italian states, Russian Coalition, Ottoman Empire, and the Covenant of Antarctica will be getting their forces around summer of next year. Other factions will be coming out but some (Republic of France was the one mentioned) will only be available in blisters that can be added to the forces of their allies though eventually you may be able to field them as stand-alone armies. I mention this for anyone who wants to wait as you'll probably end up waiting for a long while.

    Oooh, where?

I have pre-ordered the Prussians, the book and the carrier off Wayland games (did not want to as they take ages to deliver) but sadly spartan do not do pre-orders themselves . Can't wait to see were they go with this, though not madly so.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

Yep, lots of nice info yesterday. The core rules from Uncharted Seas are solid and the VSF navy theme is looking awesome, this game just needs to strike a chord with enough people to get word of mouth spreading it in clubs and it could end up being pretty big, lets hope.

I'm going with the britts. Love the look of the hulls for their ships.... Although I may buy the zepplin just to have it.

Really looking forward to antarctic faction. Hopefully the game will be popular enough for the release to be relevant next summer.

Is this all going to be based at see? or are we going to have land combat?

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

According to the Spartan Games website there will be land units and air units. There are some cool sketches of land units for each of the factions on the website. The Federated States of America has a "Land" ship which looks alot like the White House made into in amphibous tank and loaded up with guns. I have to say. The more I look over this game the more excited I get about it.

Seems to be land, air and sea based. Pretty promising I must say.

I think they got me hooked. I'm a steampunk nut, and this is the first mass battle game I know in that setting. Humhum...

And here are some pics of the painted miniatures (note that the FSA don't have two carriers, it's actually the top of the sea one that can be removed):

I don't think it can fly. If i remember correctly Neil at Spartan said it had been placed on a flying stand to allow a better view.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

Dice rolling will be the main source of damage production.
The cards aren't necessary to play the game but add a little extra in the form of firing, movement or other hidden skills or tech.
Similar to the decks in both Uncharted Seas and Firestorm Armada.
See the link on the OP at the top. Tons of info there.

I am excited about the new models and not interested in the rules which are going to be similar to US and FA.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

I'm very interested in the rules, to see just how similar they will be to US.
If they are too similar it won't be worth it for me to start yet another game, although I like the models a lot.
I'm also curious how they manage to have land, sea and air units interact.
