By the gods, these models are gorgeous.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a miniature gallery!

the models are a damn sight better than anything they've done so far. Plus that french battleship did make me joygasm after ahving done an entire years worth of course work on a very similar idea
My Guard and Khador now too. Updated 9th MARCH

We are very excited in our play group. Six of us now have starter fleets and enjoy the game quite a bit. The models have an impressive amount of detail and workmanship with a healthy dose of sheer cool. We're still getting all the rules down but so far we've enjoyed the games.

Overall there are some sublte differences between Dystopia and the other two games. So far I like most of the choices they've made (Assault Points but no Crew Points for example).

If they are too similar it won't be worth it for me to start yet another game, although I like the models a lot.
I'm also curious how they manage to have land, sea and air units interact.
The inclusion of air power for everyone makes them a bit different even though the naval rules are similar sans windage. Not only do you get tiny planes along with medium size bombers you can get massive size blimps that drop bombs, etc. I can't speak for the land units yet as they are unreleased. I for one am anticipating the John Henry Flying Robot for my FSA.

FSA take one more hit to register the first point of damage (DR). They one of the slower fleets as well. They can get shields, rockets or kinetic (1d6 movement) for their cruisers and battleships.

Blazing Sun take one more hit to get a crit (CR). They favor rockets and can make them incendiary setting ships on fire. They also have fixed broadsides so are trickier to move but when done properly dish out a lot of fire. Their tiny flier torpedoes are nasty.

Prussians have the highest number of Assault marines (which have jump packs!) along with their Tesla cannons they like to board other ships.

Brits I have yet to see in action. They seem to be a bit more well rounded and versatile but that's just annecdotal. I haven't looked at thier stats much.

Really nice details on the tiny models there. Are they all metal, or are there some resin/highly detailed plastics as well?

Ta very much . They seem reasonably priced as well for what they are. I might have to look into this.

    Hi people.

I have been well excited by the Dystopian Wars, the rules, the models and fluff... definately something I would advise you all to have a look at as you will most likely enjoy it.

Anyway here is a link to the review I did of the game:

    Dystopian Wars Review

Hope it proves useful to you all, I have also got pictures up of the contents of the Britannian & Prussian Battlegroups, and in the next couple of days shots of the Carriers for both of these factions will be up too.

Spread the word, this game is awesome to play and the well worth the relatively cheap cost to get into it.

Except for the bombers which are all metal They are excellently detailed for the scale they are. The tiny rivets on the metal bits, the grooves between the wooden planks on the deck. I'm quite impressed.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

My order is sitting in the dispatch queue at Spartan Games.
They've apparently been flooded with orders, so it's taking a while for them to send them all out.

Ordered the book, cards, Britannia battle group with an additional Battleship and some extra cruisers. Don't really like the look of their Fleet carrier, I'm waiting for their Sky Fortress for that one.

Love the recently (as in yesterday) revealed medium flyer for the faction too, it's a lovely Victorian Seaplane Osprey cross-breed.
It's model is pretty large too, 57.89 mm long, 53.6 mm wide.

The other faction medium flyers are behind the link

As a whole the game looks rather interesting, can't wait for my package to get sent out and starting reading and painting those babies.

Love the Brit and Blazing Sun airships. The Prussian and FSA versions don't do a whole lot for me (and I'm a Prussian player) but I think once I get a unit of them they'll grow on me. But I am a bit jealous of the factions using more rotors and anti-grav stuff for airships. Good thing the Magenta is an allied unit for the Prussians though so I can still get my hands on a proper air-battleship.

Yeah the medium flyers look awesome.

As does the French battleship... allegedly the french have some kind of carrier that uses two of the battleship hulls.

I don't think I have seen a pic of the land sea or air forces together. I'd like to get an idea of how they scale upto one another.

From different posters on the Spartan Forums (no land vehicles are currently available, and the only current air forces are the flying Carriers, the fighters and the Bombers):
You can see the Prussian fighters (the square bases) on the first pic, they have exactly the same size as the FSA ones in the last pic:

The game is a lot of fun. I've already gushed a bit about how good the models look. It took us a few games to get the rules for the tiny fliers and AA correct. They appear to have learned a few things from their previous two games. I like most of the decisions they've made regarding what rules they have tweaked for DW. The cards I like a whole lot better than the set for Firestorm for example.

Faction wise I love my FSA so far. The FSA Battleship is pretty darn beefy and its two turrets are strong even at long range. Rockets overall are weak so right there the Empire of the Blazing Sun is harder to play. They have fixed channels of fire with their broadsides coupled with rockets makes them a challenge. They have some of the coolest models though (IMHO) and we can't wait to see what the Mechanical Ika will look like (giant robot attack squid go!). The Prussians certainly want to get close and start boarding actions. It isn't terribly easy to do if you get pounded as you move in. I have yet to see the Brittish in action.

It's still pretty eary to tell exactly how things will shape out. There's so many models yet to be released its hard to gauge how everything will shake out.

Any tips on learning the rules? You said you found the aircraft a little tricky to learn.
