I like the look of that too; nice call on the Chris Foss look! I don't play FA but some of the new ships make me really tempted to collect some days.

Hmm its a fairly small photo, but especialy those green ships look a bit more sci-fi than steampunk to me, or at least its starting to look like the technology of the world has advanced a lot since the first ranges of models for Dystopian Wars. They look good, but I think I will mostly stick to navy and land with only a couple of airships like the zeplins.

The Covenant of Antarctica have been designed to look a little more Sci-fi than the other races, If that helps.

I welcome this release, but wish it had come before I had ordered my FSA stuff separately. However its good news for the EotBS who have the cheapest boxed set.

Yes, they've stated pretty much that the Covenant units are as far away from the aesthetic as they'll go.

54sih pounds doesn't sound too bad I guess. Basically, for the Prussians, you get Gewitterwolke for 75% off. I don't know what I'd need 8 blimps and a larger blimp for exactly. I would have probably preferred some of the bombers, oh well. I'm sure I'll be buying this too

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

Having seen the game in the club a few times, I've just jumped in on this. I've gone with a French fleet, mainly to wind up my opponents, as they know my partner is French.

Picked up a starter fleet, battle carrier, some destroyers and subs. It looks like a fairly well balanced place to start with.... and well, the balance has got to be better than GW, so I can't have gone that wrong (except risking Waylands delivery times...). We're playing at 800pts at the moment, but are thinking about larger games at times.

    I have two questions.
    1) Anything obvious to add to fleet?

    2) Has anyone tried painting a fleet in Dazzle camouflage? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazzle_camouflage) if you need a reference. I'm wondering if to try it. It seems fitting, and could look highly effective, or awful...

The default (or Spartan's 'house') colour for Britannia was like that (sort of).

Flying Carrier, it carries 3 more tf then the ordinary flying carrier and it's stats are practically drednought esq

My Olympic class Troopship arrived today, it's a gorgeous model and insane value for the sheer amount of resin in it.

    Re: Dystopian Wars.

Hey guys, new to the Dystopian Wars game.. been playing for a few weeks now and wondering if there are any players in the Cambridge, UK area? I get to play with a couple of guys regularly but we are looking to expand our DWars adventures with new players.. any about?

Also, does anyone know if there is a Dystopian Tournament on the horizon? Any already existing? I'd love to get something together if not..but unsure whether there'd be a market?

I currently play EotBS and CoA, my mates play KoB & Frenchies, CoA and we also have a Prussian player.. would love to get some games in with other local guys..

On a final note, two questions:
    1) any CoA players: I find the Icarus pretty sweet, I've just order 4 more through Troll Trader on eBay and am planning on running 2 x 3 Icarus (Icari? lol) is this too much or do any of you use that many?
    2) to Jap players.. I ran 2 Ika last night in a 3 way versus Prussians and CoA.. I was .... underwhelmed. The first one popped up and savaged a couple of frigates that had been used to road block and then was reduced to a limbless husk...the second spent the majority of the game swimming forward and not really doing anything.. They seem to be 200 points wasted..I'd rather have a second Sokotsu or second group of Inari or Tanuki? thoughts?

Cheers guys, sorry to take up time!

Darn. I was hoping they'd have cannons that fired bears at the enemy.

If nothing else the ablative armour sounds like an awesome mechanic for a force of brawlers. Now they are far less likely to be swiss cheese by the time they hit RB2. Considering the full forward firepower and the background saying that their ships are loaded with marines I dare say these guys may be the real brawler+boarding faction. Definitely picking these up since they sound like they sound like the play style the Prussians should have been on day one.

Having seen the Russians ( Playtest version N.n, anyway) in action a few days ago, you're half right. They are definitely brawlers, although they're not simple to use. They have some interesting special rules that stop them being point and click.

Well, my copy of the rules finally arrived. I'll probably run Prussian Empire, partially because the club I go to has every faction but the Prussians, but also Metzger.
