I am excited about the new models and not interested in the rules which are going to be similar to US and FA.

I'm very interested in the rules, to see just how similar they will be to US.
If they are too similar it won't be worth it for me to start yet another game, although I like the models a lot.
I'm also curious how they manage to have land, sea and air units interact.

Been dropping hints to my wife about this as a possible christmas present, here's hoping she was listening. Love the Prussian fleet and I love the way their play-style sounds which should be different than my usual preference in fleet combat games. Slugging it out at close range then sending my rocket hussars over sounds like a fun plan.
And the tesla coils, oh the tesla coils.![]()
what are the play style differences among factions? I haven't read anything on that yet

Warhammer 40K is like LSD to me:
It's expensive, it lasts too long, it makes my head hurt, but damn I love the visuals.
It seems people are receiving models in the post now. Has anyone had a good look at them yet? I don't think my postman can get through the snow to deliver mine.
I think just Americans are getting it at the moment.
My rulebook and Prussian and Blazing Sun starter sets have both shipped. I didn't even realise that land units were planned to be released until today, the concepts look awesome.
Maelstrom have posted my EoB Carrier today, but no idea when it will arrive with the weather problems.
Now I've decided to wait for the release of the Bombers blisters before deciding if it is better to order the miniatures individually (Really weird pricing, starters seem so costly compared to individual units).
Anyway between the issues with the deliveries from UK (not even GW went trough, our shop received nothing that week, it's the first week of December and I'm out of AoBR boxes to sell..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) and Maelstrom being out of stock with the starters it's not like I have much of a choice anyway.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a miniature gallery!
Well, after having been very impressed with Spartan's other games, and with the style of the current Blazing Sun stuff, I'm picking up the first part of a fairly large force tommorow. At the least, I'll get some photos up when I unbox it, if theres much of an interest for that.
Hell, I may even pull my finger out and do a proper project log for it all. Who knows!

Strange, the rules are great, one of the reasons why we play it, is it the rules in general or just a specific rule?
i'm likeing the idea of this and the mini's look cool but are the rules simlar to us and fa or are there enough differances to make it stand out
i think i saw something about a 6mm companion to firestorm somewere if this is going to be a full system that melds sea warfare with a 6mm land based models that can be used as a campian i'm in i'l just have to convince a few others to take the plunge which is the tricky bit.

It's mostly the exploding 6s. They make the results swing so widely that it's pointless to bother using tactics. I personally could still stomach a game of "let's just roll some dice and see what blows up" every once in a while because of the cool theme and models, but most of my friends have ragequit.

I really love the mini's, and the "fluff", will be picking it up for Christmas

Huh, that a weird reason to hate something. Honestly the exploding 6's don't negate the need for tactics anymore than any other 'critical hit' rule do; their effect can be calculated like anything else and unless you are talking full battleship broadsides you aren't likely to see them swinging results too far.
But then again I've seen people not play games because they dislike the die-type used or because it uses dice pools so while I think its a silly stance it isn't completely alien, it still manages to boggle my mind. Especially when my play throughs of US seemed to emphasize pre-planning and maneuver a lot in order to get the best use out of you ships.
Well apparently the naval and aerial stuff will be similar to FA but it also contains rules for ground units which will likely play fairly differently. The big difference between DW and FA/US is that it operates in multiple theatres at once. So instead of it being all navy vs. navy it can be ground vs. air, air vs. wet navy and even ground vs. wet navy or anything in between.i'm likeing the idea of this and the mini's look cool but are the rules simlar to us and fa or are there enough differances to make it stand out
On land you have massive tanks and walkers slugging it out, in the air you have zeppelins, bombers, fighters and even flying battleships trading blows and on the high seas you have the usual wet navy types plus the potential for more weirdness depending on how creative they want to get.
To me it honestly feels like this is a compilation of all the lessons they learned from developing US and FA and put it into this game with a few choice extras. Out of the three lines this one actually sounds more different than FA and US were to each other simply because it adds more dimensions to combat rather than operating only in a single theatre.
i like the rules but the rules surrounding attacks and responses from different levels (high, sea and submerged) are somewhat confusing on paper. Add in attachment escorts and tiny planes and i'm just frazzled tbh. anyone care to help. otherwise the rules seem really good and the special rules added arn't to bad either though i do like the fact everyones tiny aircraft have special rules, be it extra machine guns and better engines to swarm tactics and vertical dive bombing lol.
