Hey, i've had a string of failed logs in the Random project log section so I thought i'd start a thread dedicated to each army as I start/continue to work on them, seeing as i've started Dark Eldar I thought this would be a good starting log. Due to a recent windfall i've been able to get a fair chunk of the force already;

The basic principle of the list is deployment shenannigans and tank busting followed up by sheer weight of anti infantry fire.

I should be able to get pictures up by Wednesday/Thursday at the latest but i'll try to get some blurry pictures up by this evening (British Gas are installing central heating so the house is a bit hectic at the moment). Also, I need some advice on my Lady Malys conversion, i've got two versions i'm working on and i'm not happy with either of them.

I do have an idea of how to paint the armour, I was a bit concerned as I can't paint blue to save my proverbial but after picking up my Aristocratic Vampire to use as a starting point for Lady Malys, I remembered I painted the glass armour on her by working up from grey to white and washing over with a dark blue, which worked better than expected and was quite quick to do.

I'm considering a Poisoned Tongue cabal too. I have looked at the vampire model as well as some of the inquisitors from the witchunter range. The death cult assassins also caught my eye. I'll be watching to see what you come up with.

@Wise Guy Sam: Thanks, she is missing arms and waiting for some white spirit before I can convert her.

@IronOx: The Witch Hunter Inquisitor was another option I thought about, if you can convert the shoulder pads to look like Kabalite armour it should look decent. The Death cult assassins seem like a good idea, I wsa thinking of converting them into a Succubi if I do a Wych cult.

Absolutely, thanks Rabid Bunny! I'll be starting first with her minions and lieutenants, of course, and then perhaps by that time we'll have a better idea whether or not Lady Malys will be released in model form in the foreseeable future. If she isn't, well....then I suppose I'll have to try my hand at converting her. I might do this regardless, as with all the great and interchangeable Dark Eldar plastics and such out, it should prove to be, if not easy, effective.

I'll have my project log started up within the week with any luck, Rabid Bunny. I'd be stoked if you popped by to check up on my progress when the time comes.

I did think about it, but it doesn't seem noble enough, Malys is a courtesan. I think it'd work as a Succubi. Sorry I haven't got pictures up yet, I should get some up tomorrow.

Right! Double post and some poor pics, an outstanding start for this plog! The pictures are ****poor purely because its dark (The pictures were taken 10 minutes ago despite the light background, that was the camera's devil work). And I don't know how to use my Mum's camera. If it isn't overcast tomorrow i'll try to ge (t more pictures.

First up is my Venom. This is my Trueborn's ride although I do have another one for my Kabalite Warriors with less skulls. The Trueborn's Venom has three human skulls and an Ur-Ghul skull. It needs some greenstuff at the back at the sides of the grill, the cockpit needs to be sealed and covered up and handrails added. They're not as nice as Alphachickens but I like them. Its slightly longer than a regular Vyper and the Aethersail makes it slightly shorter than a Raider so all my comments in the Tactica thread about them being useable due to their size can be considered bunkum.



Next is some very WIP Scourges. I shamelessly nicked the idea of using Daemonette feet on them although I can't remember who from, though thanks!. I'm glad I had the mounted Daemonettes lying around as i'd picked up a few purely for using the steeds for Warp Beasts.

@lilloser2010: Thanks, they still need alot of greenstuff and demouldlining until they're similar to what I want them to look like.

@Kamsm8: Thanks, they're Kabalite warrior heads with the back half cut off and filed smooth with Daemonette hair glued on the back. The first pic in #10 has a mounted Daemonette head with a collar added, I couldn't sculpt a helmet I liked and the face looks suitably warped anyways.

Those a very nice. You used gargoyle wings right? They fit really well with the look of the rest of the model. Very dynamic posing also.

hah very nice rabid bunny, I love the sail on the venom, I played around with the idea myself but couldn't fit it anywhere, kudos that!

And thanks for showing us these wonderful scourges, I wasn't sure if the gargoyle wings would work, but they look really nice. I might try that myself!

@Logarithm Udgaur: Yeah, I've seen a few conversions using Sanguiniary Guard wings, but they look too clean cut for sadistic flying horrors. I'll be greenstuffing over the segmented joints in the wings and a few barbs and feathers on the wings.

@Alphachicken: I tried using the full scale one, but they were too big. The larger top bit of the aethersail will be used for my Cronos conversion.

Yeah I agree, the fluff and the art in the Codex makes their wings seem very organic extensions of themselves, fused and ligamented into their actual flesh - the Sanguinary Guard wings are nice, but they look too mechanical for Scourges imo.

I like the wings you've used - how about for the Sarge you use the Dark Pegasus wings? They would have the same vibe but make him more imposing!

:Gresil: Thanks. I was thinking about using them, but they'd be huge compared to a DE, that and it would be awkward to rebalance the model, it'd fall backwards alot.

@RTB01: Thanks, i'm surprised you could see the one carbine given my pic quality. The carbines are made from the splinter rifles with the covers on them from the Raider kit with the barrel trimmed down. There are two useable ones per Raider kit, so i've got 6 made up (enough for a 10 man squad).

I didn't manage to get pics today, i've been working on getting the Warriors and Raiders finished as I may be able to get a game in on Wednesday.
